So I'm guessing the sacd hasn't leaked with disc 2? I wonder if a rip will sound different from the physical cd 💿 now that I think about it

nooooo he looks grey and purple in this, and lennon looks like a straight up orange rabbit. so remember the time, would probably look too yellow /green. Who is it - black /blue (maybe) and so on.

If this was edited on VHS, then any special effects would have to be done over from scratch. Unless they do like the Missionary Man 4K video and just scan the non-effects parts from the original film footage and the effects from the videotape, which you can easily tell the difference between the 2. In the same way, I don't think anything much can be done with earlier videos like Rock With You or the Motown 25 performance as they were shot on videotape.

I hate that Im curious about rtt so badly .. i dont wanna poke the bear but...really glad Rock with You is saved and Motown 25 BJ . i mean how would that even look? black glitter i guess?

Isn't every video on film with exception to Off The Wall/Motown 25?

This here is the video with the most important message and i couldn't ...concentrate because i was still gawping be it ...AI or upscaling -
It started off okay but it then still looked so purple and yes , hues of blue. I could see up michaels nose and felt intrusive , although being under him was impressive so i can only imagine BoW 4K -But on the whole -i didnt treasure that experience because i felt my gawping was taking away the message, The whole point..

The original footage of those might be on film, but most music videos of the 1980s & 1990s were edited on videotape, no matter how they were originally shot. The same thing happened with some 1980s TV shows, like Star Trek: The Next Generation the effects had to be done over when the show was released on blu-ray. Something like Thriller & Speed Demon had practical effects or claymation, which are done in camera. Remember The Time likely had computer effects added during the editing process. So the effects are probably not on the original filmed footage. I'm not sure how Jacksons videos like Blame It On The Boogie & Goin' Places were shot, but they look like film to me. Can You Feel It is most likely film. In some cases with music videos, the original footage might have been thrown out or lost. I don't know if this happened to any of Mike's. Even if the film still exists, it can deteriorate, have faded colors, or have damage. With Weird Al's Eat It video, it has a lot of scratches, they probably didn't want to spend more money cleaning it up. The War video Low Rider, was scanned into 4K, but I think it was shot on 16mm film so has more grain than 35mm. Low Rider is from around the same time period of those 1970s Jacksons videos. 16mm also can not be scanned as large as a higher sized film stock

Alright, that makes sense. As long as there is film footage, even 16mm. I don't think 8K is necessary, or even 4K persay, but as long as 1080p is possible that's really enough for me. I just imagine it's film, and videotape editing, as you said. So effects would have to be touched up very often.

But like Paramount, the Estate has LOTS of money so they could easily redo all the effects

In fact it'd be miles cheaper than Star Trek since MJ has like maybe (off the top of my head) a dozen videos that use CGI, all those videos being average of 5 minutes

Meanwhile Star Trek was 178 episodes of 45 minutes...

I heard that the Next Generation blu-rays didn't sell as well as the company wanted. The younger generations are more likely to stream than buy physical media (other than video games). A lot of them don't collect stuff except maybe Funko Pops. 😁 Also DVD still outsells blu-ray & 4K discs put together. The local Best Buy stores don't even carry CDs anymore, but they do have a few vinyls, but they can cost up to $40 US for 1 album. Best Buy does sell CDs online though. But not everybody shops on the internet.
 
Weird al literally just got the effects for eat it put back on the 4k remaster. No excuse for "the envy of all estates" lol.
