What Are You Listening To?

Last 5 albums, all last 2 days:

Bathory - Nordland
Curtis Mayfield - There‘s No Place Like America Today
Billy Paul - 360 Degrees Of Billy Paul
Guido Belcanto - Balzaal Der Gebroken Harten
Julee Cruise - Floating Into The Night

Love me some Curtis!
Curtis is awesome!

There's 3 Curtis threads on the board - I bumped a couple of them but they didn't go anywhere. It's really strange with Curtis - he's deeply respected and yet massively overlooked, imo.

Curtis is great. You know how in Africa they talk about the big 5 animals. Well the big 5 black artists imo Curtis is one of them alongside MJ, JB, Marvin Gaye And Stevie Wonder.

There’s no place like America today is less catchy as his previous albums, it is harder work to find the memorable melodies but it is a great album nonetheless. Billy Jack is a fantastic track.

I’ve been listening to Short Eyes – the massively overlooked sountrack album. Some of the tracks on here are timeless classics! The one I regard highest has to be Back Against the Wall. So good! So is Do Do Wap is Strong in Here.

That’s funny, your 5 big, @filmandmusic – I believe I would choose the same as you... although... Maurice White should be in there, too!

So great to see fans of Curtis in here!!

Now you're going to make me listen to earth wind and fire! It is one of those bands I only know of a couple of hits. Never gave one of their albums any attention so far!
As if I my albums to listen to list isn't big enough as it is :p

I also think of Bill Withers now. Perhaps we should go for a "magnificent seven" 🙃

It is good but it's too long for me so I don't listen to it very often. Love it, though.

Awesome! The handclaps! The percussion!

"Check your fears and hope that you're dreaming"

And I LOVE the ending! Love it.

Maurice White should be in there, too!
Um, that would be a no, from me!

Love Curtis. I understand why Stevie is more highly rated but I will never understand why Curtis is so underrated, despite the genuine respect he gets. It's weird.

Oh, I envy you, so much greatness lies ahead of you!

Bill Withers – yes!
