Can't believe people are defending Brad Sundberg after he was ripping off fans for so long.
He's been riding the MJ wave for so long. Instead of doing some proper work as an engineer/producer he's just using the fanbase to get some money.
Don't get me wrong, it's cool that he's showing appreciation for MJ, but he's doing much more than that.
Producers like Teddy Riley or Rodney Jerkins manage to score other stuff after MJ. Brad is just...stuck. And I'm sorry to say it, but I'm pretty sure that MJ was the brain behind most of the stuff that people were doing in the studio.
Ethically, what happened to the laptop isn't right.
But as a fan? I think it's good. I see no point in paying 1000$ to hear a song once. And don't even get me started on the Estate.
Exactly.
People all of a sudden like to pretend how holy they are but fail to see the irony in that.
As far as I can see, there are only 3 options on how to handle demos and home videos:
1. Make it free for everyone.
2. Make it so anyone can buy it.
3. Lock it inside a vault and let it rot.
But don't give me some seminar pilgrimage nonsense.
It's like if you are a true fan, you go on a pilgrimage once in your lifetime and attend the Brad seminar. Well guess what, 90% of MJ's fans wont EVER be able to afford that. Which means they will NEVER get to hear all that stuff.
It's true, what Brad is doing, is not illegal. I'm sure he has some sort of deal with the Estate. But on the other hand, ALL music that ever comes out officially, can also get pirated for free. So people who are angry about the leaks, what are they actually angry about? Is it mostly people who paid money for seminars in the past? Tough luck, I'm so sorry that you are no longer the chosen few, who got to experience Michael. No, scratch that, I'm not sorry for you at all!
Michael was all about giving and sharing. He gave his Victory cut to charity. He made chorus to Earth Song without lyrics so the whole world can sing it. Of course he was selling his music and concerts but he wasn't selling his demos, home videos and effin' handwritten lyrics on mangled pieces of paper!
Wise up, people. If Estate refuses to give the fans what they want, the fans will simply have to take it. Stealing a laptop and giving all the stuff for free to the world, that is a NOBLE deed that should be celebrated. You all know that if Estate decides to sell this stuff officially, we will ALL buy it, despite having it for free. Because, as I've said, all music can be obtained for free these days, nobody is forced to buy anything.
edit
Just to drive my point further, can people who are upset about the leaks explain to me how exactly are these leaks different from Michael's official music on torrent sites? How is pirating Chicago 1945 different from pirating Jam?
The only difference I see is that Jam can be bought and enjoyed by anyone in the world while Chicago 1945 was reserved for selected few pilgrims. People should, in fact, be more angry about pirated official music than pirated demos because pirating Dangerous album actually hurts the Estate and Michael's children, while pirating Brad's stuff hurts only Brad.
