"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Woooooow I gotta say I'm extremely pleasantly surprised by this move!! I've been saying for a few years now ever since I saw a clip of Jaafar singing with his dad and brother at a Christmas benefit I immediately thought that kid was gonna do something big at some point. The resemblance and sound of his voice compared to Michael was almost uncanny. Sure after further listens there are obvious differences, but this is going to be pretty stellar to watch on the big screen! I've been really curious to hear him take on some of MJ's material and what better place than in this film! Kudos to powers that be for getting THIS one right!

I am extremely disappointed with the casting.

Having a Jackson play MJ makes sense BUT he is not an actor , he has zero acting experience.

We needed someone who could really act their ass off and not just be an impersonator.

I've heard Jaafar and he can sound like MJ at times and do the usual dance moves - this won't be enough.

FFS

Will be interesting to see what they do with his appearance from the 90's onwards.
Makeup and prosthetics should be the way to go. Jaafar looks like Thriller-era MJ enough as is so I don't think CGI is necessary anymore.

He could still do well, Aaron Paul for example never took acting classes and never had a relevant role before Breaking bad but his part on the show was still phenomenal.

2024 release seems the most likely then. A new album to accompany the movie would be great.
Now I think there was allready many prepartions in the background and it is likely that the release-day will be in time on Michales 15th death- anniversary. And at least it also a good thing that there will be no family-fights and intervies against the project

Edit: so Jaafar is preparing for the last six month

I really hope he can pull it off.

Everything else about him is perfect, he is a Jackson , can sound like MJ and dance....

Could be brilliant, we shall see.. I'm already warming to the idea since my initial reaction.

I'm just thinking about how authentic this film could be in terms of costumes etc.

Will we see real MJ clothing being worn by Jaafar? Will Michael Bush make the outfits etc.

For the choreography, surely the likes of Travis and Rich and Tone will help mould Jaafar into Michael.

As the Estate is backing this, we won't be getting cheap clothing and amateurish production which is good.

It's quite amazing to me how the initial response to this film was generally negative, but now, it seems the majority of people seem very optimistic. And for good reason, they seem to be doing everything right thus far. The director, producer, lead actor, the fact that both the Estate AND and Jackson family are involved, etc.

I was one of those people who was initially very skeptical regarding this. I am now very optimistic and looking forward to seeing the end result. This could extremely successful.

Do you really think a MJ biopic has a chance of winning the Oscar for Best Picture or something? lol
Not best picture, but best actor. Good Biopics are always nominated for it's acting. GOOD BIOPICS, I repeat, GOOD BIOPICS (with good actors).

And where in the world did the director or the script writer said they will talk about allegations? That is something a news outlet said, not anyone involved with the production of the movie. I will not believe it until then. The protagonist does not seem MICHAEL-y in the 90's, nor on the 00's. MJ was a WHITE LOOKING CAUSED BY A DISEASE AFRICAN AMERICAN MAN. They will not paint this dude white (and it already looks weird on the musical to have a black man dressed in the dangerous tour outfit), ergo, they WILL NOT go further than THRILLER/BAD era.

It's not gonna happen. And if it does, it will look weird, as MJ was a white looking caused by a disease african american man. THAT is a fact.

They have to be using multiple actors. He's 26, how's he going to be playing the span of Off the Wall to even Dangerous, let alone up to his death.

That said I think he looks the part so it's a decent casting.

Chadwick Boseman played James Brown from his late teenage years to his senior years in Get On Up. They just put old age makeup on him. Chadwick was in his mid-30s when the movie was filmed. They did have different actors playing James as a child.

So Jermaine finally gonna get that starring role and be the MJ......through his son ha.

Seriously though, Jaafar looks so much like Jermaine!!

I hope he doesn't get flour on his face like Flex Alexander in the "Man in the Mirror" movie
Urgh what a truly awful awful film.

This film should have a big budget so I'm confident it will be a million times better than anything we've seen before.

Searching for Neverland although better than man in the mirror, it still made me cringe at times.

The only good series was The Jackson's an American dream.

Terrible choice. Bye Bye Oscars.
Let the Jackson family out of this.

It's gonna suck.
And I foreshadowed, this would be based on the OTW / THRILLER years with J5 flashbacks.

I'm surprised the Estate has decided to team up with the Jacksons for this....
Oscars lol. Who cares about them in 2023? They are a joke.

And besides, no way MJ biopic will win anything, even if it is great.

I think it could be a good choice. Jaafar surely want to respect MJ and will play the role candid and honest.

If he can act, I do not know, we will see. Hopefully he can.

I know nothing about Jaafar, like I don't think I've ever heard about him before. But I do like the choice. Resemblance to MJ is there.

Is it possible tha Jaafar is the singer of "Keep your head up"? :D

Maybe "Michael" from 2010 was the teaser for the Biopic 2024 ;) Kidding

Who's the one on the left?
If you're talking about all the way left on the photo, then that's Dealz (aka Sigmund Jr./Siggy) Jackie's son. He's most known for being in a music video by Aaliyah, but he has released some rap songs independently. If you're talking about Mike's left (or right to us), then I don't know. Maybe Jermajesty
