The Brad Sunberg Seminar Leak/Theft of 2023

I'm slowly loosing my trust in mankind. It's quite depressing. We as human beings are getting so selfish. Just looking for the next short fix. Junkies of the "save" online world were we don't care about rules and ethics what are society is built on.

I'm amazed by the moral standard in this place, while I had the feeling this place was more on the sane side of the MJJ fan community, but it don't know man. The stuff people get up with to justify for this theft, I just don't get it. The fact that I now have to read posts in this place by a person that claims to have commit the crime and people complimenting him for his efforts. Seriously, wtf! He probably didn't actually do it and just wants to act cool, hiding safely behind his online mask, but still. It's despicable! And if he did do it, it's even more dispicable that he's bragging about it in here and actually gets support for it.

Some of you cheer for the thief and attack Brad, I mean come on... Sure I understand that most of us in here can't resist watching and listening once it's leaked to YouTube, and that's from a fanatic point of view somewhat ok, but criticizing Brad and cheering for theft. Wow, seriously. Maybe some of you got a bit overexcited, but that is not OK. Brad is in no way to blame and crime should never be celebrated. It's as simple as that and it can't be argued. (Nor will I)

The things that Brad does is within our rules and standards. It's allowed by law, since the estate allows him to share the copyright protected material by playing it to a crowd during a seminar. You might not like it, sure. You can have your opinion and share it, but it won't ever justified what happened. You can be pissed at the estate, but it won't ever justify the s#!t that goes on right now. Brad asks a price, you don't have to pay it. But if you want to, you can. Just like anything else in the world. That doesn't mean you're a victim, nor are his guests extorted or ripped off like some of you claim. And it sure has nothing to do with feeding of a dead black man. How do you guys even come up with this crap. Some of you are really full of shit.

Brad offers a great experience that done from the Heart and for the right reason. Yes it comes at a price. Mostly because of the costs, but he probably benefits from it. So what, just like your local butcher and bakery. There's nothing more to it.

Brad was the technical engineer on huge albums. He started of as just a simple assistant in a studio. Hi started of keeping the place clean, setting up mics, stuff like that. He gained the trust of Bruce, Michael and Quincy. And rightfully so. If you do some research, instead of jumping the wagon to feel good about justifying something that is clearly wrong, you find out that the moral standard of Brad is really high. He always supports Michael and has been very professional during his career and never back stabbed Michael like so many others did.

From his professional career he gained access to exclusive stuff. In the studio, a legal pad with lyrics notes, etc. wasn't considered to be anything worthy. It was just a tool on a normal work day. A lot of it was thrown away. Some of it was gifted to or kept by Brad. Bruce did the same and it's fine. They are the rightful owners, Brad is allowed to sell it. Again, you might not like it, sure. You can have your opinion and share it, but it won't ever justified what happened. Loads of Michael related stuff, including clothes, notes, autographs, rare CDs are being sold for much money. It's what it's worth and it's idiotic to claim that everything should be available at the demand of the fans for free. It's not for us to decide.

Please people, get a grip. Be decent. Be kind. Give it a thought, don't do to others what you don't want to be done to you. Be reasonable. Although this place is online, you're talking to and about real people. @Lord Jackson, please seek help and work on yourself man. This attitude isn't ok. Or at least if you're fine with that you're doing have the decency to change your nickname, cause in this state you're in, you're not worthy of carrying it.
The theft was not right, but we don't need to love and endorse what Brad does. There needs to be a nuance between "Don't rob people in broad daylight" and "Should exclusive material be behind a paywall?"

Maybe the seminar prices could be lower, maybe it could have a hybrid video communication option, maybe the estate should officially endorse the project. Maybe a museum should allow all of MJs significant material to have a home. It's worth discussing, just maybe not the right time. But better late than never really. And overall I'm still fine with what Brad does.

That type of discussion I have no problem with.

But when it comes to the theft and the attitude…

The estate doesn't even want to release the MJ music or videos they already have. People rightfully are not cooperating with this current Estate. They clearly have had many poorly done releases.

Brad is free to charge any amount he wants, no one is entitled to anything. He seems like a good person and he can run his business how he chooses to.

It's more than I would pay for this event but more power to him for having a positive, entertaining, event that people enjoy.

It's not like as a recording engineer he became a multimillionaire , I'm glad he can find a way to make some money after the fact.

Geez. Simmer down. The Laptop has been returned, the music and videos liberated and no real harm done. I doubt that any fan is actually interested in violence.

Poorly done is a matter of opinion, the same opinions that have been being shared since about 2001. If you're not satisfied with the releases of the Estate, that's fine too. That rarely has anything to do with what Brad will do though.

They might release a project that satisfies and Brad might eventually receive an endorsement, if they don't create their own similar program of their own. Overall, yes, he is free to do everything he does, I agree. I simply have chosen not to pay for it. Nothing more nothing less. It's not even boycotting, I just ain't got it like that. I'd actually like to go one day but it is a lot to ask for.

who is planning and encouraging? I just see one person bragging about being the thief with no idea if their claim is true or false. Gaz has taken the stand that its ok to discuss these new leaks, so that's why discussion is allowed.
The only reason this is being allowed is because of traffic. What an absolutely pathetic state of affairs. This board is gone to the dogs.
@LordJackson, your a tosser. Hopefully the law will catch up with you very soon!

So the admins are seeing a member describing a thief he did, and have nothing to say / to do with him ??
Shut up, get off your high horse! Thanks to that man we now have a huge amount of material floating around and I for one am damn grateful! We haven’t received shit from the estate in years except for a half assed Thriller 40 with really only 2 new demos and the best thing we’ve had in a decade has been two of the 3 Thriller short films being remastered but they didn’t even bother with Billie Jean. I’m loving all of this, keep the leaks coming!! Love Brad and I hope he got his laptop back, but I’m excited about all of this! Felt like a birthday present and my birthday isn’t even till June 😂😂

If anyone has details of LordJackson‘s whereabouts please PM me. I’m going to pay him a visit. I’m going to break his jaw. I’ll only do about 6 months.
Calm down there tough guy lmao, I know you want your kudos for being Mr. Morality but you just sound ridiculous. You can’t tell me you didn’t listen or watch any of the leaks, because you’d be lying and you can’t say you didn’t enjoy them. Well boom! Now you’re just as guilty as everyone else now hush.

Real leakers do it the old fashioned way, hacking a Server of the music company.

I find it extremely ironic that @Lord Jackson is of the crowd that thinks Brad is some greedy fraudster literally extorting fans for his own personal profit, and yet he admits he needs crowdfunding himself to support the financial expenses of flying out to the seminar to commit this crime.

Brad literally is "extorting" money from the fans for the exact same reasons, after all. The travel costs of himself plus whoever he invites to be a guest at these seminars, as well as the payments to the professional recording studios he uses for the seminars to provide the experience he wants to replicate for the fans (it is called "In the Studio" With MJ, afterall. Replicating that in the studio experience in a professional studio and asking to allow crowds of people from the general pubic to fill out what is usually a more intimate environment surely doesn't come cheap with how much sensitive equipment you're giving people access to).

Seems the supposed Robin Hood in this story has come out of all this with the same "extortionist" needs the person he stole from has needed from people this whole time. The only difference is that one is a personal longtime friend of Michael who wanted to share his experience in a way he thought Michael would approve of, while the other is someone who has lost sight of any messages Michael ever taught us about humanity and how we should treat one another, becoming a criminal without any regard for what kind of person Michael would have wanted them to have become at this point in their life as a fan.

That's my two cents in any case.

Yeah the point I was making was that this guy has said he’d only do 3 years for engaging in organised crime therefore he’s willing to go ahead with another planned robbery. Dress it up all you like but the manner in which this took place is wrong and Brad didn’t deserve to go through that.
I have no problem with leaks per se. I listen to them and also buy every official release as I’m a collector. Leaks have always been around and most hardcore fans are going to listen to them. That’s a given. It’s the fact that he stole Brads laptop and added insult to injury by rubbing it in and bragging online as though he’s actually taking pleasure out of inflicting damage on someone, and the attention seeking arrogance of seeing himself as some sort of anti hero. It wasn’t enough that he committed the crime but he also wants the fame and notoriety to go along with it. All he’s doing is creating a mountain of evidence that will insure he’s locked up. What an act of total idiocy and what a total bell end he is. Even his name, LordJackson! Give me a break! And he’s mentioned another planned attack! Total clown!!! MJ loved Brad and wouldn’t have stood for this or wanted LordJackson for a fan.

None of them is "extorting"... to keep with the comparisons, Brad would be more like a traveller who shows you some spectacular show (and there's no scam) ... (The issue from my point of view, already explained earlier is rather, is that the right way for MJ's works to be shown/heard...)
The comparison with Robin Hood works in the sense that unlike some other leakers, LJ doesn't try (not that I know) to make money by selling what he has stolen and makes it free for many. Where the comparison stops working is if one focuses on an idealistic/perfect image of Robin Hood... while, for reminder, Robin Hood is a thief and a "real life Robin Hood" is not necessarily someone you'd want to stumble upon... but the image gets loose on this side of interpretation. (And, he's trying get crowdfunded because otherwise he's financially blocked...)
You got a point about current community behaviours going far far away from MJ's messages...

I don't think returning the laptop makes it ok. He still stole (copied) the material on it. That is probably the more valuable thing to Brad not the laptop.

There is no excuse what so ever to steal like this. End of story.

No matter what you think of The Estate, no matter what you think of Brad and ITSWMJ, there is no excuse.

It's like trying to come up with excuses for someone robbing a bank. - They needed money, the bank was greedy etc. etc. Simply just NO.

I do not know Brad, I have not went to ITSWMJ seminars, but I can not believe anyone would actually risk ruining their lives for some MJ songs and videos. You can go to jail, that's one thing. But when you get out there are tons of jobs you will never ever be able to get. So it is beyond stupid to risk that.

I am not holy or perfect or anything. I have listened to the leaks and seen (and enjoyed) the videos.

But that simply does not change the fact that it's wrong in every possible way. And the way it was stolen. Disgusting. And someone desperate for new footage and material trying to come up with excuses?? Get a grip. There is no excuse. And the Thief should not be priased but condemned.

I wonder if MJJcommunity will be legally culpable for basically allowing active planning and encouragement of theft here. It's kinda funny that the mods really don't do anything to people around here, unless I called someone a (reclaimed) slur or something.
Pls take ur pills

Going back to the sound quality of Chicago, JacksonUnreleased just put up this 'Rework' version of the song. Is it just me or does the quality sound better then what was originally uploaded a few days ago? Remember this is YouTube also so is compressed yet it sounds better to me.

There are different versions of the song that's for sure, Damien talked about a version made for TUC and another that MJ was gonna work on before he died. I just don't know if a version from Invincible exists for certain.
I think the version that would have been on TUC is like Cheater

mostly the same song, mixed differently

If this is not a reason to ban this idiot for at least a week, I don't know what is.
