"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

I'm glad that Jaafar will play Michael. I do hope that the good and the bad parts of his life will be a part of the biopic, including his breakup with the Jacksons in 84. To understand his very chaotic and difficult life, one must study both sides

Yeah I'm not worried about the voice, dancing and looks. I saw a 1 minute clip and sounds very nice and has a bit of an MJ flavor about him.

I hope the bipoic will show Michael's flaws. If it only betrayes him as this perfect angel then that'll be no better than all the B.S ''documentaries'' that betray him as a complete monster. Michael needs to be seen as a human being thaqt included both his good and bad sides.

Jaafar looks nothing like Michael but everything like Jermaine!! Is nobody else seeing this? 😂

He will be made up to look like Mike so it will be fine. Also the vocals? Yeah Jaafar has that signature Jackson family sound..

A big budget estate back biopic, the real MJ's voice will be all over it too, it's not gonna be Jaafar singing everything, they will prob try and blend the voices at some parts.

Did anyone see Elvis? Austin Butler did not look like him but he WAS Elvis due to his amazing acting.

My biggest concern is the acting, I don't think he has any acting experience at all. How is he gonna manage the emotional moments without coming across as a poor impersonator.

It's like hiring Michael Trapson and putting him in the role.

By actually knowing his uncle and having that same spirit of being relatively meek and kind. Nobody in Hollywood is Meek*. MJ was. And so would his family's kin of course.

*Meek in the positive sense

But he needs to be a fantastic actor!

It's all fine saying he knew his uncle etc, so did his brothers yet they couldn't hold a candle to him.

Sounds promising......

What's the chances though that the critics will simply say this is a biased look at MJ to portray him in a positive light, and make him out to be the victim and misunderstood?

Critics aside , if the film can open audience members to the real MJ then hopefully some will have a different perspective after it ends whilst remembering how utterly amazing he was and gaining new fans?

This could be a great opportunity really bring MJ back ❤️

Idk, does he? He needs to embody that energetic performative power, I'm not sure if that takes "acting" per day. Otherwise MJ in the day to day wasn't like, let's say, formal. What really needs to be captured is MJ's rawness, his anger. That's been harder for most people to capture, not his smoothness, though few are rare to be as smooth. That impassioned agony he lets loose so often, that's what a good actor could stand to convey. That grit. You almost need someone with a deeper voice to hone into that but that ain't it either. Just one of a kind.

Of course critics will be hard on the film but the main idea is to open up the idea again that MJ could be innocent. The main outlook at this moment post LN is that he is guilty. If this movie is done well and truthfully I think it will re open the debate among people.

This movie could be a new dawn for a lot of people, even hard critics...

I'm very optimistic about this.

exactly, the film isnt for us per-say. look at the amount of people that have fallen in love with elvis now because of the Elvis film, like i know people who have pictures of austin butler and elvis on their walls and do everything to defend the fact elvis married someone he met when she was 14, like its mad

Idk, if Dave Chappelle don't believe he did that, why would I have to? Plenty of people don't believe that. The media just refuses to budge on it. And the media of course, deserves to die.

I think people can change, we are in general reasonable beings with a huge emotional capacity :-D
I'm just going to pretend hatred and violence don't exist for now lol

I know this has maybe been touched on or thought of but I am wondering how are they going to address the change of colour of his skin from say 1987 onwards when it was pretty clear that he was turning white due to the vitiligo?

It will be a very important moment for sure, I hope Jaafar can really put in an performance that shows MJ was emotionally distraught due to the vitiligo.

We know he used bleaching cream and make up to even things out so I hope they show it.

Personally I hope they show the allegations from MJ sides and how they were all a big fabrication! And maybe it will get the GA to actually research!

Benoquin isn't "bleaching cream", it's a medical treatment for extensive vitiligo. Not the same thing.
