New All-Star Tribute album?

From Neff-U's sessions alone they could use:
Broken Chair
Bang Your Head
D.I.E
You Were There
Love Heals
Silent Spring
Love Heals
Don't Make Me Stay
Dark Lady
Water
Red Eye

And from will.i.am's:
Can You
I Will Miss You
The Future
Still The King
A ballad with John Legend

Anything else from Rodney is complete guesswork since there's no song apart from GYWOOM that's confirmed to exist. I suspect that a lot of the songs we'll hear on the album will be songs we haven't heard of before.

Bear in mind that mkgenie's sources aren't always spot on. That was pretty clear to see during Thriller 40.

I think people are getting ahead of themselves, until we hear more about what this project actually is should people get their hopes up for unrealeased material.

What do you mean? He was on point when he said that the last song that was going to be announced for T40 was a new one.
His sources were right about the songs, yes. But remember he also said there'd be four music videos released in 4K, and we ended up with two (as well as the WBSS lyric video).

Not dissing mkgenie in any way, just saying that his sources aren't 100 percent accurate all the time

Well even the Estate said there will be a Thriller 40 documentary on January and...yes. So I believe there were 4 but the estate been estating

I understand they recorded songs MJ planned to recorded with Neff-U and Rodney Jerkins in 2009, but not make it before his dead.
So, no demos recorded by MJ finished with this producers but only songs never recorded, like Is She Come Back (by Dr Freeze)
Am i wrong ?

Seems like it... Maybe some songs that mumbled as well like Boy No and Dark Lady...We'll have to see... Interesting nonetheless

I hope they use MJ's original compositions but I really doubt that since will.i.am is involved and if you look at the stats there has never been a demo that was successful on its own (compare the stats of the demos to the stats of the remixes, they barely get attention from the general audience). Hopefully the remixes will be made with the idea of how MJ would want them to be done at least.

I personally hope they'll include at least one track were Michael does the chorus. It's a great opportunity to release something semi-finished like Just Remember. And if the song is that great as Damien said, then it'll be a great single as well.

That article doesn't convince me that it's an official project, sounds similar to the 2007 photoshoot documentary, I can't see the Estate allowing it without their approval

One thing that I can't understand, is if Mike didn't record any vocals, how do we know he wrote the song? Could it be similar to the Cascio situation? A song being presented to Michael doesn't mean it's a Michael Jackson song

There are plenty of things that MJ wrote but didn't record, like the bridge and the third verse of Hollywood Tonight, some lyrics of Innocent Man and You're So Beautiful. At the time MJ would only record the vocals once the instrumental was fully ready so it's more likely that MJ left songs that were already fully written but never recorded.

Yeah, it literally says in the article that it's an independent project.

I’m baffled at the pessimism here lol. Neff-U and Rodney Jerkins, two producers who have given MJ nothing but respect posthumously, get together to put together a tribute album that will not only allegedly feature unrecorded music that we would have never heard otherwise, but is being put together without the estate’s involvement or oversight… and somehow that’s “nonsense.”

Edit: not saying anyone needs to support or be excited for the album, but dismissing it outright is such a reactionary stance.

I don't really see how MJ fans not being interested in an album that will not feature him and likely won't even feature the music he actually worked on is all that surprising.

I would understand the disinterest if this was simply a cover album with MJ's top hits but the fact that they'll bring never-before heard songs with people who worked with MJ; rather than bringing the most popular producer of the moment, shows that there's a lot of passion behind the project. It's definitely worth checking it out rather than dismiss it entirely.

You've already said you don't think they'll even use the music MJ actually made, so yeah I just don't see what's interesting about this or should appeal to MJ fans. Happy for others to have something to be excited about, though.

True, but I'm still interested in hearing what MJ wrote at the time of his death since up until recently we had no clue how MJ's songwriting was affected by the trial. Although I would prefer if they used MJ's original compositions I'm still interested to see what sound they'll come up with for the songs (Mainly from Neff-U, fuck Rodney for what he did with Xscape lmao).

I don't get the people uninterested in this simply because it has no MJ vocals, yeah that's a shame but like, Bruno singing songs meant for MJ??? Sign me the fuck up!!
Some people are just out of touch lol.

I hope they are huge hits. Just inescapable anywhere in public.

These songs are huge for MJ in an entirely different way. Imagine Bruno Mars gets a smash hit written solely by MJ. That's genius work and it reminds that MJ was a genius hit maker and songwriter.

Who cares about MJ fans? I'm hopeful for good music. That's literally what it's all about. I know Michael would care that much.

I wish the person in charge of the project would have called RedOne and Ne-Yo instead of will.i.am and Rodney Jerkins. I understand that Will and Rodney are bigger names but I bet that the songs RedOne and Ne-Yo made for MJ were amazing and this would be the best opportunity to have their songs out. Hopefully there could be more tribute albums like this in the future.

I hope he's involved, RedOne. And I think he is, if Bruno is involved.
