"Butler creates the comic by pencil sketching original images, then scanning and adjusting them with software such as Photoshop, where the panels are then assembled ... Some of the feline characters are based on Butler's own pets, Ivy and Calvin."

This makes me so happy, that she starts the creative work in pencil. I could tell. I could see that the artwork was computer art but it also had proper depth to it plus a kind of visual 'feel' that computer art just never has, imo. This is so cool. :)

It's not really a title, I just don't know what to call it properly))))) But it made an impression. The heated battle language here isn't my thing either. And honestly I often don't understand what's going on. But it's so emotional and gripping.
It's very good that you've already found it. I wouldn't likely do it again.

Yes! That's why I edited my msg. I thought, 'no, she's not gonna want to re-post that'.

This thread is very accommodating. I'm just starting a new obsession! There is room for lots of madness on this thread. I like the way the madness ebbs and flows, the way it goes off in unexpected directions.

That's a little bit harsh, imo. I don't know these 'Pelle Svanslos' comics other than the fact that they came out decades ago - during WWII? - and the characters were cats. All cats? I have no idea, I've seen the thing mentioned a couple of times and seen a couple of pages reproduced but I don't know it properly. Certainly the style is visually very different from Tracy Butler's. In fact, I'm not even sure about the artwork bc there are the comics created by ... can't remember the name, too tired to look it up ... but, anyway, there were also books and I don't know if that was the same artist or someone different.

Is it the fact that Tracy Butler uses cats, specifically? Or is it just her using animals at all? Bc we have animals as characters in Orwell's Animal Farm. We have mice and cats as characters in Art Spiegel's acclaimed, award-winning Maus. We have cats and other animals as characters in various cartoon strips. I'm struggling to see this as a 'rip-off' unless I'm missing something.

It was mostly the cat theme I was referring to! Pelle Svanslös are children’s books, not comics.

OK, so it was artwork from books that I saw. Noted. But I still don't understand why Butler's work should be classed as a rip-off. Beatrix Potter published The Two Bad Mice in 1904. Art Spiegel published Maus in the 1980's with mice as the main characters. I just looked up Felix The Cat and he was created in 1919.

It's no big deal. Just seems like a weird take, that's all. 🤷‍♀️
