Actually, that's not quite true. When I lived in London I did get to see the moon very early in its rising (or setting) phase. I often saw it when it was really big, including a couple of supermoons. :)

I hope I will be able to see it from my flat. I live in an inner city, but there is some space behind my building and I can see the sky and mostly the moon quite well. But for the 31, I will see if I can go to a better place.

Ohhh, I see! The siggy is from an art exhibition in one of our city churches where an artist put up a huge model of the moon ...

 
"The term "once in a blue moon" is an idiom used to describe a rare but nonetheless recurring event. But according to NASA, blue moons aren't actually all that rare, recurring every two and a half years or so.

A blue supermoon, however, happens far less frequently. According to the website Time and Date, the last blue supermoon was in December 2009, and the next one won't be until August 2032.

This year's blue supermoon will peak at 9:36 p.m. ET on Aug. 30, Farmer's Almanac says, but you can use its moonrise calculator to see when the blue supermoon will be visible in your area.

The end-of-August supermoon will be the biggest and brightest of 2023 because the moon will be "exceptionally close" to Earth at 222,043 miles, according to Farmer's Almanac, nearly 17,000 miles closer than average."

 
@bluemoon7 so , a few .... a huge ammount of pages back - when we were all creating BYC the root of it- i think it was zin who said some awesome line , like - "Blue moon and the power of 7! " You know , along with our pictures of strength etc that we all posted
i dont know what page it was ....i would say a good 12 pages back lol

oh, it was! I didn't notice first time. But, yeah, I could imagine him doing something like that. Actually, when I was rooting around for those moon vids I saw one for an earlier exhibition that Luke Jerram did which I had forgotten all about. He had a similar thing but it was earth not the moon. And I saw it and immediately thought of how you could have that in a beautiful space and play Earth Song at the same time. Or people could listen to Earth Song on their museum headphones.
