I’ve been thinking about Michael’s autobiography. How come he named it Moonwalk? And why was the movie named Moonwalker?

Because that was a good promotion for it. He literally was famous for BJ and moonwalk in 80s. At that time he didn't become a legend yet. He was just an influencer and popular entertainer.

Yes. But if you try to view it from another angle: Was the title’s sole purpose to maximize exposure? Wasn’t there more to it? I guess he must have liked the word? As the title of the autobiography, is it a verb or a noun?

It goes hand in hand with Michael’s penchant for one-word titles, that much is clear. But I somehow believe there is more to the title choice than just recognition.

Bad was released shortly before the autobiography. If all he was after was promotion, I believe Michael would have extended that to the choice of autobiography title by alluding to the album. Michael wasn’t overly nostalgic when it came to music. He was always passionate about new sounds.

He also called his own film "Moonwalker", come on) It's obviously because he loves that word and he wanted a good promotion

What would you name your autobiography mister?

Mm good point though.

Hmm yes in that case.. it might be a love for the mystery of the moon (Neverland logo/Scared of the Moon), or maybe Moonwalker was a derivation of 'Streetwalker', he really liked that song..

Still, in the end I think it was chosen because the moonwalk was his most iconic/most recognizable thing up until that point

By that logic (recognition first and foremost), wouldn’t it have been better to name Bad, Thriller 2, or Moonwalker?

Good question! I will have to contemplate it.
Because he had to name it something and that's what he picked.
Not the most thought through response, that one.

No I thought about it just enough, you're thinking too much about the title of the book.
How can you say that with such assurance? Were you there when the title was chosen?

Edit: And if the topic doesn’t interest you, why do you feel the need to post in this thread?

And i know this was question was not directed to me but sweet, if it had been named Moonwalker...or Bad , The public would have got confused right? Thriller 2 ? I feel no impact from that. Because it is repetitive. And here he was reinventing his image so i don't think that would have gone down so great. So i think leaving out the er at the end of title...ironically, made everyone alert about things!:ROFLMAO:

🖤I aim to please darling LOL

Don't be so rude you tut tut

That train of thought tells of other considerations at play besides just recognition and exposure. Reinvention – it sure was important.

My own autobiography probably would go by the name of “Vy från en stubbe,” by the way.

I didn't say it didn't interest me, you're the one that decided to respond rudely to what I wrote for no reason. Someone earlier on in the thread basically said the exact same thing I did and you liked it lmao.

:unsure:What does this mean ? Mine would be - 'Seriously, Don't read it ' Then on the back in maybe neon scolding letters, 'Well, i told you not to.' :ROFLMAO:
It's a nice thread because I love books about m. This and DTD ~The best|!

How ironic....

It's depressing that most of the discussion on this forum at this point is just us responding to people who are clearly just saying things to be annoying and start unserious debates for their own amusement

Yes I was talking about people like you when I said that, well done!

I see you just came in here to derail this thread and be annoying as usual so I'm gonna put you on ignore as I can't be bothered.
You had already done that yourself due to your reply to Agonum. His initial response to you was perfectly acceptable.

I'm just not a fan of your entitled tone in your replies. This is not your forum, it's for everyone

If I were to expand upon my admittedly basic first comment, I think he just picked it because it sounded cool and was something that was recognisable and that everyone associated with him.

I don't think there's some deep thought or meaning behind it.

I really don't have time for whatever personal grudge you hold against me because you made an ass of yourself in another thread yesterday.
