The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I don’t know man. It seems like a natural progression for him to stick to the lip-synching. Both songs were lip-synched at the 30th Anniversary shows, for example.

Songs that were lip-synched once, were always lip-synched after that first time e.g. Thriller was sung live on the Bad Tour and lip-synched every single time after the Munich concert on the Dangerous Tour. Another example is Smooth Criminal, or The Way You Make Me Feel, after the European leg of the Bad Tour. That’s kinda how Michael functioned.
I think TII was gonna be a reset of sorts. More of a return to the Bad/Dangerous Tour Energy.

But sure, maybe for the more highly choreographed numbers, he preferred to save his strength.

Perhaps. I believe Michael Prince that MJ told him that he wanted to sing more. The question is how realistic that would have been, given his health. I think many things would have changed as the shows went on, one of them probably being the realisation that he wouldn’t be able to sing live as much as he had intended.

Did MJ get to record vocals for You Are My World? From what I’ve read, R. Kelly originally intended for MJ to record it, and only released it for himself on his 11th studio album, Write Me Back, after MJ’s death.

Someone told me that Cheater 2001 was actually an alternate mix for Bad Special Edition (Ignore that it was just a troll)

I'm pretty sure The Beatles have exclusive use of that tech for now. Peter hasn't allowed anyone else to use it so far.
I'm even more jealous of this now having heard Now and Then

Just think what this could've done for Thriller 40

It'll wear off soon though, this exclusivity.

So what songs would be live in your opinion? Probably the same ones he did on previous tours like WBSS, Human Nature, IJCSLY and the medley

Pretty boring selection if this is the case
Live all the way through - WBSS, Human Nature, IJCSLY, J5 Medley

Lipped with live adlibs at the end - SC, TWYMMF, Beat It, BJ, MITM

Michael never strayed far from his general set list but I do wish he would've explored his catalog a little more. He had too many songs that were crying to be heard live to be stuck singing the same 20 hits throughout his tours

MJ didn't record anything with R Kelly towards the end of his life. R Kelly had prepared around ten songs for MJ. Some songs are featured on his 2010 album "Love Letter" including, apparently, the song "Not Feelin' The Love."

Otherwise during his career, I may have found a collaboration between them which remains unpublished. But I'm not sure at all.

I don't really want MJ's name to be associated with that of R Kelly again.

He also wanted to scrub R.Kelly from "I have this dream".

Michael Prince has said that towards the middle of June 09 they realised he may have had the intention to do as much love as possible but the reality was he wasn't up to it. Hence recording WBSS to lip synch and a few others.

I think realistically This Is It would've been 80 percent mimed. Let's be real here, had he have served through to July he'd have been in pretty poor shape.

I'm not saying it was easy. But I think he would've tried. In any case, rerecording the vocals would've been a worthy exchange. That's more egregious about things really.

Since we on the topic of concerts, I was wondering and maybe it’s a dumb (and already repeated question so I apologize if so) but is there full footage of every bad tour concert somewhere in the vault?

But it has been said R Kelly work on studio on some recordings during the next days after MJ death
Edit : it was in this article https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/music/2009/sep/03/r-kelly-michael-jackson-album

Every MJ concert was shot on tape. So in theory there must be all the shows in the vault! But only the estate knows how many are lost..

I'm very sad that song adore you did not have vocals I was hearing the snippet multiple times

I’m pretty sure that’s not what Michael Prince said. He said that they initially started re-recording songs, for Michael to have fresh vocals to lip-synch to, in order for the illusion to work better, since he was much older at this point.

But, according to him, soon after they started recording, Michael came up to him and said that he doesn’t want to lip-synch that much at all, and that for the songs for which lip-synching was necessary, they should use what they had used in the past.
