Some people really have nothing better to do with their time.

I would leave his "legacy" alone if I were the MJ biopic team. I was introduced to MJ during his "Bad" era. I was 11 years old. I lived in Orlando, Florida, and remember seeing "Captain EO." I remember a few singles from the future albums, bought the "History" double CD, the 2005 trial, and then he died.

Then I had a friend who is a huge fan. So we saw "MJ: The Musical" last year. It was phenomenal and had the audience starstruck. One fan called out "Michael" when the actor performed the moonwalk from the Motown special.

However, after that, I started investigating MJ because it ended in 1992 during his "Dangerous tour" and before the August 1993 allegations. There were several things said in it that I had to find answers to because I wanted to understand the meaning.

Then I discovered ALL types of information about him. I read Michael Jackson: The Magic, The Madness, The Whole Story by J. Randy Taraborrelli. I located a timeline of boys in his life on a website called "MJandboys," which detailed many photos I had not seen before. I watched many old interviews and re-watched "Living With Michael Jackson" on YouTube. I listened to the podcasts called "Think Twice" and "Telephone Stories."

Finally, I watched "Leaving Neverland." If this biopic does not address the various allegations, many more fans, as I did, will start investigating things. I've learned things I wouldn't have thought about had I not seen the musical without the charges.

I believe his "legacy" is going to take another hit. In the 80's & 90's, only his inner circle knew about certain things.

Newer generations are going to discover some unsavory truths about MJ. Many of them, such as I did not know the "cute" little Michael, The Jackson 5, or The Jacksons. To stop this biopic in the late 80's might be a can of worms they don't want to open.

This might not end well. It could lead to more lawsuits and more victims appearing to tell their stories like the men in "Neverland."

MJ's estate has enough money, and his children are grown. These producers shouldn't chase the "Bohemian Rhapsody" biopic model. If I were them, I would leave it at the "This Is It" documentary to avoid more damage.

You mean you were such an MJ fan but had never learned the facts about the 1993 case before watching the musical?

So how many people would watch MJ the musical while not knowing anything about the allegations and then go on a research spree to find out about something that is not adressed in the musical? And also while not having watched Leaving Neverland before or followed the 2005 trial in the media or the endless of other books, docos, magazines covering the abuse allegations.

It feels like that not many people except you would tick those boxes!

This is your first post and you arrive just in time to advertise the hitpiece "Think Twice" which is some of the worst biased journalism ever.

Finally, when Leaving Neverland has already hit and Leaving Neverland 2 is currently in production to be released, do you really honestly believe the biopic will hurt Michaels legacy? Its been an onslaught of negative TV-shows since Leaving Neverland, why would people have missed all that but suddenly would discover it via the biopic?

And also, would it not be better if people did their own research rather that watching one-sided hit pieces like Leaving Neverland? Most people watching Leaving Neverland did not start doing research, they assumed what was presented was a fact!

I know there was, but this new poster claims its the opposite. That people watch the MJ musical and start doing research and learn unpleasant things they would never have discovered if not for MJ the musical or the biopic, which I questioned in my post!

Probably 1 out of every 100 000 who watched it or so.

Lets not kid ourselves, that TV-show did even sway MJ fans to abandon the fandom. Just because we have a few select fans who claim to be new fans because of Leaving Neverland does not mean it did not do lots of damage, you just have to see the comment section on any social media whenever something MJ is posted to realize that.

That is exactly why I am very skeptical the biopic can hurt MJs legacy as our new member @MJfan1986! of the boards suggested, especially with the upcoming trial and Leaving Neverland 2 also set to hit cinemas in the next few years!

Do you guys think there will be a John Branca cameo ? Maybe not Branca himself, but someone portraying him when he was young and working with MJ.
The documentary really doesn't need that but It would be hilarious if he really insisted on them including him.

Except Branca actually does deserve some sort of a portrayal. He was pretty relevant in the Thriller Era.

I have mixed feelings abt this biopic. Even if let's say will make some light, it's just a movie. If one will say ,,but finally the truth abt Michael is here,, it will be dismissed as ,,it's just a movie,,. And with the Jafaar embodying Michael so well as they say, I see in this just the final attempt to replace once and for all MJ. Bc this is what they are doing, trying so much to replace this unique artist.
It's like a fish bone stuck into their throat.

I definitely agree that they're doing that with MJ generally in his music and other stuff they're doing, like I've said, selling the idea of MJ rather than MJ himself, but a biopic was going to happen at some point. They're done with most big artists and MJ was the biggest.

How can they replace an artist by hiring someone to homage him as accurately as possible? Without writing any new songs or likely even singing his own songs?

I swear, it's like basic logic goes out the window over "sentimentality" for Michael sometimes.

Trying to replace Michael? Did they try to replace Freddie , Elvis even Judy Garland in their biopics? This is why I hate fan communities sometimes due to how delusional they can be.

A successful biopic can honestly have the biggest positive impact for Michael's career and reputation in the coming years. Some people simply cannot see past their obsessed worshipping of the man.

Unless the likes of Arvizo, Chandler come out and say that the allegations were all lies, this biopic is so important, there is nothing else that will have the same worldwide reach.

It is so important they do Michael justice , to showcase both his talents and the truth.

Couldnt agree more!

Besides all his amazing music and achievements being shown in the biopic, if the biopics would explain some interesting (and controversial) parts of his life like his difficult childhood, vitiligo, humanitarian work & love for children and some simple details on the allegations, then I would already be happy.

The main goal would be to make the world know who he really was and give people michaels view instead of the tabloids and to understand him more.

If only 20% of people would show more empathy to Michael I am already happy.

I'm not worshiping the ,,man,, nor i'm obsessed. I am fascinated and passionate abt him. It' s a difference.

No actor has been announced other than Jafaar?
 
What is the reason for them trying to replace him? Simply trying to remove the music from the man based on what he was accused of? enjoy the music but ignore who created it?

That's impossible and will never happen but this is exactly why a biopic has such importance.
 
This biopic may well be ‘(re)make or (re)break’ for MJ in terms of his standing as a man with the genera public.
But, there is also the fact that many individuals (like myself) are quite prepared to separate the man from his art.
So, we may well have an interesting situation where appreciation for his music explodes whilst his reputation does not.
i think this may well be the scenario most likely.

Using MJ's cast would look very weird. It's possible to make Jaafar look a lot like MJ, not by using his exact mould but by applying different prosthetics that mimic MJ's features and still match Jaafar's general facial structure

It's been said before here, but I really hope they will play Dream Away during the credits, it's tinged with the right amount of melancholy and perfect for a bittersweet and heartfelt ending, either that one or a stripped version of Best of Joy would be my dream

You are all wrong, Jaafar should undergo plastic surgery to look like Michael, like the extreme physical changes that a professional actor would undertake.
