The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

She's Trouble and Starlight had been publicly available for 20 years or so prior to T40.
They didn't even include Hot Street on T40. Which is odd. We still don't have an official version. Obviously, they are holding back material for T50.

If Hot Street is a copyright issue, they are at least holding back stuff like Why Can't I Be and Nymphette Lover.

And there's still no guarantee WCIB & Nymphette Lover even have MJ's vocals. The tape for Stand Tall, for example, had another singer's voice on it. Or they could be instrumental ideas. Could be anything, really.

AFAIK from this thread, Hot Street boils down to issues involving Quincy.

True, but still available. So, not new. My point stands.
There's entirely new tracks

Official releases of leaked tracks

And reissues of tracks we've already got

Thriller 40 gave us:

2 Entirely New Tracks (Technically 4 if you found the demos of Behind The Mask and The Toy to be unique and different enough, I personally might say it's 3)

2 Official Releases of Leaks

4 Reissues of tracks we already got. Only two of which really made sense, Carousel (Should've been the full length version tho) and Got The Hots, which was actually very hard to get on physical media.

I love Sunset Driver and accept it as a Thriller demo but it's certainly contentious, and CGOOTR makes no sense. Should've been TGIM demo.

Carousel (Should've been the full length version tho)
That is the full version. The "intro" on the leaked version is just a metronome, not a part of the song itself.

Got The Hots, which was actually very hard to get on physical media
Not really if you have access to eBay or Discogs. A significant number of editions of the King of Pop 2008 compilation have the track.
You can find a copy of the Italian one, which features both the full version of Carousel (for the first time ever) and Got the Hots, for 10 euros on Discogs.

CGOOTR makes no sense. Should've been TGIM demo.
It would fit a "deluxe box" better since it's a B-side. TGIM demo wouldn't fit either since it's just a demo of an album track.

The bridge was longer though. Like Rock With You.

Yeah, that's not easy. Not as easy as literally going to Target or Walmart and buying it off the shelf. Or Amazon. You can even rent CDs from the library nowadays.

I won't exactly argue with that. But so is Starlight.

It would be better on Disc 3, that's fair.

My guy, if you don't think buying a CD online is easy, well... I see you're not the type to buy stuff online, are you? lol

Although it's fundamentally the same track, it's an embryo version with a completely different theme and lyrics. In that sense, the PYT demo would fit the idea better than both CGOTR and the others mentioned.

We ain't talking about me boy. We talking about your grandma or somebody who don't know what a computer is. Otherwise just go to Spotify.

My grandma or somebody else who don't know what a computer is surely wouldn't be looking for a deep cut of Michael Jackson's discography, especially that being Got the Hots, my guy.

They wouldn't look for anything but Thriller or Off The Wall, let's not get into that. But that only further highlights how visibility means something.

But it’s nice to have it now on streaming services due to the anniversary, plus I don’t want to have to go through all the trouble just to find that one song. So it would be nice to have a re-release.

I feel like they could've easily had a third disc for b-sides and previously released tracks (CGOOTR - *cough*), and left more room on the second for additional unheard/unreleased material. Oh, well...

I wonder what potential Bad40 release will look like? How many already released tracks would make it on such release?🤔

I feel like re-releases should be treated as definitive editions, so I don’t have an issue with them including all of the previously released material. So long as they even it out with a fair amount of new music. (And if they actually include quality mixes of the already-released music—“Carousel” from T40 came on shuffle the other day and I still cannot believe they released it in that quality.)

I think T40 was a throwaway project to test the waters post LN. Chances are like most other bands they are saving the big guns for the 50th anniversaries, like The Beatles have done. With MJs streaming figures they can afford to I guess. T40 was a token IMO, but I'm grateful for it considering I wasn't sure if we would get another physical MJ release at one point!

Carousel and CGOOTR. Still speechless over those. They sound like they were downloaded from Limewire

On the third disc I would have also liked to see different takes of each song, sort of like how the Beatles release their album deluxe editions.

My guess is everything from Bad25 and Throwing Your Life Away. If Porcaro allows Chicago 45 there's a good chance it'll be on there. If not, I'm guessing Turning Me Off seems the most probable.
Prob not bad 25 but cheater, TYLA, Chicago 45, turning me off, changes, then remixes

Didn’t Damien Shields confirm that ‘What you do to me’ has full vocals or am I misremembering?

Perhaps Joe Vogel's knowing more. Has he ever been asked about WYDTM?
