Taj Jackson's MJ Documentary - Updates and Discussion [MERGED]

Nowhere today have I said I expected Taj to come up with bombshell evidence, because there isn't any, this is obvious. If there was, why would he sit on it? - what I suggested that Taj has hired people who have gathered information that he could have gathered himself. This is my third time re-iterating this point.

I dont know why are suggesting that Taj himself needs to do all the work on the project himself. If 250 000$ by estimation by Charles Thomson and Marcos Cabota is enough to film a pilot to pitch to investors/broadcast companies. And then Taj himself need to work on the project for 5+ years, depending on how long it will take to finish + paying for research, filming, travel and then searching for investors the 250 000$ is a drop in the bucket.

If Taj was going to do all the work by himself without hiring anyone it would take forever. Taj said by early 2021 that he had hired some crew already. The Michael Jackson Innocent Project was hired sometime during 2023. I have no idea exactly what their roles are or what roles Charles Thomson has etc. So its impossible to say whether whatever Taj is doing is right or wrong at the moment.

Considering the Robson/Safechuck trial and biopic was not on the map when Taj started the project thats also factors beoynd his control that surely has complicated things.

I would guess that the overall size and difficulty of this project has caught Taj off guard and he has clearly failed to reach many MJ fans as they dont listen to the MJcast or even watch the streams Taj has been doing. He should have devoted more time to update the actual gofundme page with whats going on!

What matters to me now is the final result, and by taking a long time the expectations for it will be even bigger! I would not wish to be in his shoes to be honest.

At last, with the trial coming up we all need to try and not attack people that are on team MJ as we will have our hands full with real enemies aka Robson/Safechuck and their scum lawyer/Dan Reed and the media backing them that will also try to destroy the biopic!

Can you guys please stop posting about this until something actually happens?

It's just a waste of everybody's time to click a few times and have to press back because there's nothing there.

Brett Barnes announces his close involvement in Righting HIStory

Brett’s Statement:

I first met Taj during the 2005 trial. We immediately hit it off and have remained good friends since then. I have found that we share the same admiration and respect for Michael Jackson. Taj has personally taken it upon himself to keep the legacy of Michael Jackson alive from his numerous media appearances as well as working behind the scenes on other campaigns. Today I am happy to announce that I have officially joined Taj’s Righting HIStory production team to help ensure that Michael’s real essence and soul are captured in this project. The world will finally get to know the true Michael Jackson. I am entrusting Taj in telling my family’s close relationship with Michael. I look forward to working together with Taj on Righting HIStory to expose the many lies and rumors about my friend, Michael Jackson.

What exactly makes a site not look like a fan site? Asking in good faith. The HTML and UI look fine to my IT eyes.
Not using MJ silhouettes, not talking about how loved MJ is, not telling people to stream his music and "don't feed the trolls", or to wear MJ memorabilia would have been stuff I'd say would go a long way to make the site look credible and not something that was put together by a bunch of MJ fans.

I'm not even trying to sound negative I just think it's a very bad idea and doesn't lend any credibility to the site or doc at all.

Looked OK to me. The design, I mean. Some of the content seemed a little vague. I'm slightly unsure how it's going to develop but I guess it's early days so I'll wait and see.
Also yeah, the info on there is vague, he states stuff but doesn't provide any sources or anything, hopefully he can add this stuff, although it should really be there already, especially considering he's supposed to be making a documentary and has apparently been working on it for years at this point.

Just read your reply to Mr JT. I agree with all of it. Those were my exact thoughts when I was reading through it. And your reply to me, same thing, those were my exact thoughts. I get that it's the first day for the site but it should be a bit more robust than that, imo. I was trying to assess the content as if I was someone who doesn't know the story. I was a bit underwhelmed, tbh. I'm leaning towards 'give the guy a break', mostly bc of it being today. The design is clean and it's easy to navigate. The content needs some work but we'll see how it goes.

When you put it like that, yeah. It's a bit more colorful than the topic warrants.

Hopefully not indicative of the documentary.

I will say, the “Facts Don’t Lie” section is fantastic. Long, detailed articles are necessary and all, but having a compact, easy-to-access section with undisputed facts and direct citations/quotes is invaluable and will likely speak to more people. Some of the bullet points could be removed, there are some grammatical issues, and direct sources would be helpful, but I do love the idea and presentation.

Still… this is it? Five years and hundreds of thousands of dollars later, and we get a website that any one of us could have made, with no release date or actual project status? (I also noticed that Taj suspiciously doesn’t acknowledge the doc anywhere on the site; at most, there are a few vague inferences.) And yet again, Taj has positioned himself as the figurehead of the entire operation, which will no doubt turn people away.

What a joke.

Disagree with the first part. Read it from the perspective of someone who is neutral regarding the accusations and wants to learn more. They won't be able to understand a thing, as it's just a collection of bullet points presented without context. Even as a fan, I don't know what he's referring to with some of these. But it doesn't even matter, because all of it is undermined by the fan-oriented Preserving His Legacy-section. No non-fan is going to take this site seriously if this 'manual' for how fans should behave is on the site.

Totally agree with the second part of your post. Taj doesn't even mention what Righting HIStory is. Someone without knowledge of the project would be none the wiser after reading his page. Some fans are excited about the Brett Barnes announcement. It is great that Brett and his family are willing to share their story on film, but why should he be a co-executive producer? Brett saying he looks forward to working with Taj on the project indicates they haven't done anything together yet. Wasn't this docuseries supposed to be out by the end of the year?

That’s fair. I was definitely reading it from the perspective of a longtime fan. I can see where an outsider or newcomer would be lost. I do think it could be a good idea, with better execution.

That website is absolutely terrible and reeks of the early 2000s "hanger on" projects we'd get.

It looks like a fan site. Telling people to wear merch? Get real.

There's not a single source for anything claimed on that site. No one on earth will read any of that and think it's anything but fan fiction.

Plus, in Brett Barnes' statement, it says 'Taj has personally taken it upon himself to keep the legacy of Michael Jackson alive'.

What a disgusting, self serving pile of garbage. It's almost nauseating.

And.. it doesn't even mention the GoFundMe he's already had over 250,000 dollars donated to!

It's no surprise fans are put off by this. It's a joke.

The website is not the finished project or the fruits of tajs labor. It's just a website and he's already said it's not finished and things will be added. He never said the website would do what you all are complaining it's not doing.

As usual people are attacking a strawman. It's getting old.

And please stop bringing up the $5 you donated like you made some huge contribution.

I myself donated $200 and I doubt any of you donated that much so please stop acting like The Gofundme took your rent money away,

Most people had more sense.

Most people had more sense.

Well good for them.

I'm blessed to have a JOB so I'll be just fine if the $200 I donated 5 years ago gets wasted.

Life goes on.

And If Taj does deliver something spectacular I'll be able to proudly say I helped bring it about instead of just sitting on my ass, whining and complaining on the internet.

So I don't have a single regret. I did it for Michael, not myself.

And If Taj does deliver, those of you who have been whining non stop better not try to switch up and pretend like you've been supportive all along when you were not.

Trying to brag about how much you donated and then acting like it's not important to you two posts later is probably the lamest thing I've seen in this thread so far.
