'Faking Michael' Podcast Out Now

Yes it is, seems to be a completely different mix, which I would love to hear. I’m assuming it has the unreleased guitar, being from 2008.
... And I love it! So raw and funky!

Such a shame they released this overproduced mixes instead

Michael couldn’t trust NO ONE. That’s not even an exaggeration.

"A fascinating, meticulously produced and timely deep dive into another facet of how, for some, money motivates all else.
It is also a reminder of how so much in Michael Jackson's life—and in death—has been mired in unjust controversies.
MJ became an ecosystem of wealth to many."

Any other media where I can listen to the episodes?

HT sounds like Bircheys Remix. lol.

Water + Monster in HQ sound beautiful.

Why don't they play longer snippets? ;(

I wasn’t in the fandom at time of Casio tracks but I find the podcast excellent on episode 6 so far and it really nicely lays out all the different vested interest of players involved and ultimately how they let down Michael with clearly forgery of songs.

I have never been engaged by a podcast, but this one has me absolutely hooked.
I’d rather read the book version, as you can get to the info you need quicker this way. Any news on when the book comes out?

I will definitely check out this podcast, as my knowledge on the subject of Cascio tracks isn’t as extensive as that of many other Michael fans.

I just wish this podcast was by someone other than Damien Shields, as I find him to be quite annoying and insufferable.

Sure, but you also have to give the longtime listeners something worth hearing. It’s the same criticism we all have towards official estate documentaries. Also, who is the intended audience? He isn’t promoting it on Twitter as of yet, but even if he did, anyone who follows him already knows this because he takes and writes about it constantly.

I’m halfway through episode three now (skipped episode two), and there’s nothing we aren’t already aware of. The closest we get is studio audio of Teddy recording backing vocals for “Monster,” and also some new direct quotes from collaborators. But that’s it.

Not trying to be a Debby downer here, but this just bums me out. We have so many questions and curiosities about MJ’s final years and later material, and the single best source for any of it decided to instead do this. It’s just a waste imo.
Yeah it’s not like people who didn’t participate in the debate will listen to this. People moved on long ago.

Teddy re writing MJ's bridge lines in Hollywood Tonight so he could make more money from the song after he made someone get him publishing and songwriting credit lol what a scumbag.
And him also doing a 360 about the authenticity of the vocals. This has altered the image that I have of Teddy. I never knew the intricacies of his role in all of this. Now I do.

What was last weeks news?
The Cascios trying to get more money from the Estate.

This is making me hate Teddy Riley. The fact he even knew he wasn't Michael but when it was time to say something to the estate, he left his own people high and dry. To those saying this is old , it telling me what went on behind the scene. Teddy being money hungry and John McClain trying to stop Teddy from remixing the cascio tracks. Who knew Harrison funk took photos of Teddy in the studio that McClain own. Teddy asked him to bring him photos of Michael because he didn't feel Michael spirit no more. I didn't know John knew they were fake tracks but continued to work on them.

In all of this madness that is the Cascio tracks, something that did put a smile on my face was when they hired the independent audio expert to analyze the vocals on the Cascio tracks and Michael’s songs. This is what he had to say about Michael’s singing abilities:

“Michael Jackson was indeed extraordinary in his ability to control his vocal tract and all the aspects of his singing apparatus. His lungs, his vocal folds and all of the other details that goes into singing—- and interestingly enough, in the known Michael Jackson recordings, the rate of his vibrato is essentially what’s regarded as ideal according to music theorist. So I realized how brilliant he was as an artist.”

I’m enjoying it but one criticism I have is he repeats tidbits of information numerous times throughout different episodes to refresh the listener’s memory which becomes annoying when I’m trying to binge-listen. Maybe it’s not meant for binge-listening, but if that’s the case, don’t put out 11 episodes at once.

I’m on episode 10, my biggest criticism is that it is incredibly repetitive. I swear it almost feels like the same 5 sound bites on repeat. How many times are we gonna hear MP say “that’s a adlib from earth song”. Overall I’m pretty disappointed with this. it could’ve easily been condensed into a 5 episode mini series and been much better.

Yeah the repetition was really annoying tbh.
