"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Off-topic but I'm wondering whether, in the biopic year, Michael will feature in any way at the Met Gala 2025.

The theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" Could be a good moment for MJ-inspired style to be front and centre. Either that or my imagination is running away with me, lol.

I hope Michael won't be mentioned at the Metgala. I don't want him associated with those hollyweird weirdos

Every part of Hollywood is weird, the film industry is rank.

I'd say there's a good chance Michael will be featured at the Met Gala 2025 in some way even if it's just Colman Domingo being interviewed about the biopic just as he was when he attended this year. Plus Michael's style has inspired Met Gala outfits before (including Riley Keough in 2017) so it easily could happen again in the biopic year.

I just had a thought: I would love for them to use “Lady of Summer” (MJ’s 2009 classical song) after the credit song in the biopic. David Michael Frank was the intended composer, and he has voice memos of MJ singing the track and he has written out the music. The song itself (I’m assuming in demo form) is actually copyrighted at the USCO. It would be very easy for him to complete the song as MJ would have in 2009.

I'm not understanding the concept of award nominations being announced when a film is still in post-production but ... posting as FYI. 🤷🏽‍♀️

As these are industry awards, they would have sent in an application, a show reel of work. Many industry award shows are just promotions and marketing, people pay to apply and enter, as a way of getting their product known. Its also a way for those people, whos job is done, to scout for new work. Industry people will keep an eye on the nominations and winners, as a way of recruiting people for their next project.

Not necessarily 😉 This Is one of my favourite films and reminds me of MJ a lot! 💜

Speaking about movies that remind me of Michael's dramatic life story like crazy, has the movie Mystic river ever been discussed here?

The character played by Tim Robbins and what happened to him in his childhood and the zombie-like shadow of a person he became in his adulthood are like a parallel version of what Michael went through in his childhood and what he was like after the trial.

Regarding the turmoil of Michael's later years, I don't want the filmmakers to gloss over that period, but I also don't want them to dwell on it either. Michael's whole story deserves to be treated with respect, and if those in charge do any different then many of the fans will figuratively crucify them.

These predictions as to when the teaser is supposed to come out have been flat out wrong (June 25th, Jaafar/MJ's birthday, Comic Con, all wrong) and I don't think there's gonna be a concrete date whatsoever. I think the teaser is simply gonna drop randomly when everyone least expects it lol

You're not wrong but I can understand people speculating/being a bit frustrated/going stir crazy. There were rumours going around that there would be a trailer revealed at San Diego Comic Con and, ngl, I did get a bit caught up in that, lol. I didn't really believe it but I did get madly over-excited and was very hopeful. Until someone on the board very kindly pointed out that Lionsgate most likely wouldn't reveal a trailer at a comic event. A film event, sure, but probably not a comic thing. Which made sense. So I had to calm down! 🙄

This is what I really believe and, also, am hoping for. I think dropping it without any announcement, teasing, online hoo-ha will be perfect. And hilarious!

True, it's completely fair to expect something on an event but when people expect something on a certain date like a birthday, an album anniversary and things like that I think they're just setting themselves up for disappointment. I wouldn't hype myself up if all of those date predictions turned out to be wrong, is pretty much what I'm trying to say lol.

It's most likely going to premiere ahead of wicked. Very similar (musical) and a highly anticipated movie which will bring lots of eyeballs in theaters ahead of the holidays

oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, that does make sense. I did wonder if more cast names might be revealed on Michael's birthday and, of course, that didn't happen. But, otherwise, pinning your hopes on any specific date probably isn't going to work.

That makes sense, especially with Ariana in the film (she's mentioned Michael as one of her inspirations). It's out in the US late November, I think, so time-wise it would work.

You should see Kendrick Lamar fans trying to determine when he's gonna drop his next album lol. It's been a long standing series of coping.

Completely off-topic but your Pulitzer thread got me looking around and I discovered that Kendrick Lamar was the first artist from a genre other than jazz or classical to win the Pulitzer prize for music.

Completely different film admittedly

It's worth noting the last James Bond film No Time To Die initially didn't have a teaser trailer. The film had an April 2020 release date initially and they released a full trailer in the first week of December 2019.
That film was distrusted by Universal internationally
