"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Create 7 slightly different tv spots advertising the movie, closing with the tagline "See the life story of the man who brought you: The Dangerous Album in 1991!"
That would be an awesome idea!!!

Regarding the soundtrack. It would be nice to have a couple deep cuts at least. As for unreleased songs, Iโ€™d be totally fine with non in the film itself, but id want some to be on the soundtrack as bonus tracks.
I think they should include a new song provided they have one that was fully finished or at least finished to a satisfactory level. This movie will be a one off oportunity as far as exposure is concerned.

Yes, I agree, 2 hours doesn't cut it, but it will be interesting, to say the least. I recently read J. Randy Taraborrelli's (no hate please- I can read with an open mind and my own opinions held strong or I wouldn't read) book that was hundreds of pages long, and I finished it, like yes... AND?? I still had a million questions like what about this, or how about when that happened...?! I just don't think we'll ever get enough. :ROFLMAO:

the "Michael has been dead for 15 years" era.

there are no more eras, i dont see people labelling the elvis movie an era or the whitney movie an era.
The difference is nobody cares about Elvis, whereas Michael is trending every other second of the day on social media. So he might as well not even be dead given how much people keep talking about him

The difference is nobody cares about Elvis, [...]
I don't pay attention to Elvis online so I have no idea if his fans are busy on social media. That said, I was just reading something about Elvis recently - apparently there are still approx 400 active Elvis fan clubs plus approx 50,000 Elvis impersonators around the world. There's even something called the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest held in Memphis.

So I guess someone still cares about him!

Do you say these things just to be provocative?

If nobody cares about Elvis, how come Graceland is still a massive tourist attraction?

There are so many Elvis tribute artists , competitions, arena shows and Elvis festivals that still take place.

You make this type of statement and then in the other thread speak about the fact you hate Quincy. Seems very bitter to anyone who is not Michael.

"The eagerly anticipated Michael, the Antoine Fuqua -directed biopic of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, is pushing back its release date by six months to October 3, 2025, but for good reasons, rather than bad. The film's production was smooth sailing, with the singer's nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role, and Lionsgate, the studio behind the movie, is so confident in what they've seen so far that they're pushing the film into the awards corridor as they believe it could be a big hit with voters come the awards season."

[...] The Graham King produced Michael is now positioned in the awards corridor next year. Previously, Kingโ€™s Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, opened on Nov. 2, 2018 to $51M stateside and went on to gross $216.4M stateside and $903.6M worldwide plus four Oscar wins.

@StockRetail

"Seeing the Michael Jackson biopic is moving out a few months. Recently the studio had announced it was going to put very large marketing behind it and that they believe it will be a huge blockbuster. Probably just finding the best spot they believe it can perform in.

Moved from April to October (from q2 to q4)"

Well fudge. At least this could theoretically mean that they could premiere it at film festivals around the world at that time (Venice tiff etc).
Good point.

And yes timing with thriller / Halloween next year could be an interesting marketing tactic.
Agreed. Could make such a difference.

Film pushed back until October of 2025. 11 months now to go lol
October 2025.... wait a second... that can only mean that the film is to promote Triumph's 45th anniversary.
Released on : October 18, 1980

I haven't forgiven Quincy for the horrendous insults and things he said about Michael after he died.

Pardon my language, but this news is complete ****** lunacy to the highest degree. I understand they want to attract attention from the award-type people, but c'mon - a movie like this should be for the fans, first and foremost. And if it ends up sucking for whatever reason, those who waited even longer to see it will have a response that's far beyond the standard "pissed off" definition.

The movie being pushed back makes me sad for one reason only... it makes it less likely for Katherine to get to see it.

They are doubling down, it's going to break all of the records and help Thriller go #1
