The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Not sure if I am just having a brain melt but I didn't notice this part in the article before.

In response, the Estate clarifies to THR that these tracks are not “new” as the master recordings are currently housed in the Estate’s vaults. “The Estate of Michael Jackson was presented with DAT copies NOT master recordings of Michael’s music, and we confirmed that the actual master recordings were in fact already located in the Estate’s vaults,” says a rep for the Estate. “It should be clear to all that ownership and rights of exploitation to the recordings remain vested in MJJP Records and that nothing commercial or otherwise can be done with the DAT copies.”

I mean, not to be a pro-estate junkie here, but the fact that MJ’s posthumous projects have single handedly out-peaked and out-sold basically everything the Prince estate has done kinda speaks to the fact that their methodology is working.

Not saying that the estate shouldn’t also throw us a bone every now and then, or that every project has been good or worthwhile. But there’s absolutely and objectively value in doing things for the general public to sustain MJ’s legacy. That’s how you keep artists on top.
I've been there dozens of times, but here's one more: you can do things for the public AND for collectors/niche releases. One DOES NOT exclude the other. You can put projects to appeal to everyone. That is something the Prince Estate does: although they also stick to his 80s albums, every SDE reissue has bonus tracks AND a concert recording along with the main record.
You're an advocate of the Estate's current management, so we don't see eye to eye. I can only respect your views and say that I pray for the day I'll see Branca out.

No, that is newly added. But that is exactly was I though, otherwise I really couldnt understand the estate

I’m not at all an advocate for the current management haha. I don’t hate them as much as other fans, but I’m far from a supporter. And I acknowledged in the post you quoted that die hard supporters should get more. I’m simply noting that doing things for the wider public in and of itself isn’t a bad thing as implied.

I am through the moon about having new MJ song titles confirmed and their completion state. I'd be willing to bet one or two of em leaks in the near future, just going off of history.

An easy EP would be get the guys who produced Bruno Mars' 24k Magic album to refresh 4-5 of the more complete loren tracks and then throw the OG demos on there as well.

It is if you do just that.

He came off as bitter.
The guy was picked to produce a Michael Jackson album, worked on several songs with the man himself and suddenly got sacked because people thought his songs sounded dated and wouldn't hold up. Several years and a couple of compilations go by and none of your songs are ever considered (not counting Superfly Sister).
One can see his reasons.

Sometimes stuff doesn't work out. He's definitely a bit of an asshole lol.

man the only thing i know about bryan loren tracks is once i stumbled upon a janet jackson demo from 1989 and the audio quality was so crappy and it bothered me to shreds so honestly if theres a bryan loren track that'll be released of MJ, it better not be crappy audio because i'd be 100x more bothered than i was with the damn janet song because its MJ lol

You're a MJ fan, you will always get the short end of the stick.

The prince estate are a different management now compared to when the deluxe sets were being made, now there is nothing coming out.
Didn't the Diamonds and Pearls SDE come out November last year though?

It did indeed, but this year I heard nothing. They've even been playing unreleased songs from the vault at the Celebration gatherings at Paisley. I'm like, come on! Release the goddamn stuff!!

The rockier bonus songs on D&P SDE are great, the rest you can forget... The Estate should have given Purple Rain the proper deluxe treatment this year like the other two box sets... Missed opportunity there for its 40th.

As for MJ's Estate, they should just release more stuff but labelled as 'demos' if they are not finished (with at least his scratch vocal). Like "In The Back" and "Beautiful Girl" on TUC. They are only concerned about releasing songs with finished vocals, nothing else. They are sitting on piles of gold dust and keeping them locked away - even demos of album tracks. Hence the leaks.

I'm starting to think there might be more titles out there that we don't know rather than ones we already know of. Just this year alone we learned of:

Climb The Mountain
I Love You
A Nice Day To Get Away
Hey Girl
Hich Hiker
Can't Come Back
Climb The Highest
Looking Over The Rainbow
Don't Talk Behind My Back
A Way With Words
Choir Song
Green Hornet Groove Soundtracks
She's Got It Baby
Scream-O-Blaster
Epic Song
Trash Can Song
Africa Groove
D.N.A
Circles
Tim & Bob Song #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7

And then in 2023 we got:

The Choice
Dancing For Love
Love Heals
Heaven With A Smile
Girls, Girls, Girls
Earth Love
Miami Vice

And I'm sure all of this is still just scratching the surface lol
Titles mean nothing without vocals though. Who knows how complete they are? Here’s hoping.

Well, a bunch of tracks are circulating since past few weeks.

Guess they took a look at how the MJ Estate did things and completely forgot how niche Prince actually was.
from michaeljackson.com:

Prince was a genius in his own right. He was an incredible artist. But nobody can compare Prince with Michael and nobody can compare the Prince Estate with the Michael Jackson Estate.
