As a story, it wouldn't make sense to just end it with a random performance he did 20 years ago. It would be like, "Okay, the movie is over, now we show you a live performance, just because that's what other biopics did."
And unlike other performers, Michael's life just can't be summarized with just one great performance that embodies all others. I feel in his case a montage showcasing his whole life, both as an artist and as a person, is the only way to go, because there is so much to show. When that movie ends, I want to see some of this:
