Some of my first memories of Michael are listening to Dangerous and History on cd along with Bad. We’ve already gotten an anniversary for Bad but nothing for Dangerous or History. This year marks History’s 30th anniversary and I’ve not heard any discussion of it. This album is a piece of literal history because it pushed the norm and showed problems that some people disregard but are still relevant to this day, I.e bigotry and the destruction of the world, while also thoughtfully telling stories. I understand that there isn’t much that can be used from History but I’m sure many of us fans would still love to hear it. Dangerous’ 35th anniversary is next year. Dangerous has enough created to be a deluxe set like Bad25. The History set could include the greatest hits, History continued, and a third disc (second disc depending on if the greatest hits are included) containing demos and the uncensored TDCAU. It could also have On the Line. As for Dangerous, that set should include the original album and another disc with Someone Put Your Hand Out and should be full of unreleased material (leaked or not). The only thing I’m concerned about is the likelihood of all this happening. It’s a lot to ask considering the lazy actions of the estate, but I still think that there is a chance. They did say in news post on the official MJ website a while back that they are planning on celebrating the anniversaries of these albums. Just want to hear all your thoughts on this subject.

The changes of D35 and H30 are low, but never zero..
sorry that meme came in mind. I mean, it's right tho. the changes are low but never zero

Technically we have already had them so it won't happen. History i actually like more than i used to but they both have some real crap songs in them DS , Money , Cant let her get away She Drives me Wild etc that is what can happen if you make an album overflowing with songs . Hence why Bad and Thriller are most memorable . Sometimes less is more, and it also shows when these un released songs appear they really are not very good hence why MJ did not put them out.

We already have a million threads like this, why didn't you just post in those? Making a new thread was completely unnecessary

Calling those songs crap is INSANE. All of these songs fall within the same genres. I think you just are a fan of a specific genre, so that doesn’t mean that these songs are crap. I used to listen to the albums for these songs. They were are great new thing when compared to the rest of his catalog. I’m ok with them not being very good. They are demos and demos aren’t supposed to be the next hit, they’re supposed to be a layout of what to expect when the final song is being produced. I’d like to hear at least somewhat of something we could’ve had.

I think it's highly unlikely but... well.... you never know. 🤷‍♀️ I think it should be celebrated ...would love a box set.
Welcome to mjjc @OuttaTheRain45 I see you are from M's home town !
It has been a very warm welcome. I actually take pride in being born in the same state as him. lol It’s really the only thing we have going for us.

It's a pleasure to meet you too! I've always said that the only place in Gary that the sun shines bright on is 2300 Jackson St. We really need something for Dangerous. There is enough material to use to really make something good. Whether it be songs that have already been released via the Ultimate Collection or songs that have been leaked, we truly have enough stuff, that IS GOOD, to create a box set in the likes of BAD25.

Agreed. Imo MJ doesn't have any bad songs. He just has stronger ones. Different styles, different vibes. I have actually started to appreciate tracks that I kind of overlooked in the past (This time around, keep the faith, history, Cant let her get away, she drives me wild). Both albums deserve recognition. Dangerous is a fantastic, dynamic album. History was his most personal. (We need a documentary!) His career didn't end after BAD...

Well said! I believe that Dangerous has something for everyone (even though most of his albums do). History has so much passion in it that not getting anything is absolute garbage. It's like the estate focuses on the stuff that only happened in the 80s. It's always 80s 80s 80s to everyone except the fandom. Except sometimes, Dangerous is recognized by some, but it's only Black or White and Remember the Time and never something like Keep the Faith or Gone Too Soon. I haven't heard anything about History and so on from anyone but this community. He's treated as if his career did end in the 80s but there is so much good stuff that came from his other albums. Take Invincible for example, people seem to overlook everything in that album except You Rock My World, which is a true shame because there are wonderful songs on Invincible like Butterflies and You Are My Life.

You make so much hope in the end nothing happens again dangerous 25 and 30 we had empty hands

Keep the faith. I still have it even though I’ve been let down by the estate many times. There’s always a chance. Anything could happen.

I don't want anything like that.

Mainly because, importantly, I ALREADY HAVE THE ALBUMS, and because Sony albums always sound so bad, I will never buy them again, so what's the point?

If they have unreleased songs they wanna sell, just release fifteen new songs and call it Xscape 2. But don't try to use them as "bonus tracks" as a reason to sell Dangerous again.

Considering how original tracks were treated on Xscape, I'd prefer "bonus tracks" on future album re-releases.

But why does it have to piggyback on Dangerous? Don't you have it already??

Just have an all-new album and call it "The Teddy Riley Sessions" or something. That way you're not disrespecting anybody.

Me too, but I want these albums so I can buy the bonus tracks.

Because those that do not have the album will once again get the chance to purchase a new copy with songs they've probably never heard. If bonus tracks come bundled with the original album it gives potential fans a chance to dive more into his work than just studio albums. I'm sure many other fans than just me would prefer to have a box set in the likes of BAD25 or THRILLER40. It must piggyback on Dangerous because of how Xscape turned out. I'd much rather hear what was completed when Michael was here than to hear the all new "finished" tracks after his death with the original versions being mere bonuses.

The original versions were available on the deluxe edition. But I know what you mean.

His career didn't end after BAD...
Nobody is saying it did. Dangerous and HIStory are great albums. But trying to make everybody buy them again is an insult to fans.

It really only seems to be MJ fans that are desperate for this. Other fans don't put up with it.

Me too, but I want these albums so I can buy the bonus tracks.
Or, Sony could treat you with respect, and you could just buy the unreleased tracks on their own?

Think about it. Just for a second.

Because those that do not have the album will once again get the chance to purchase a new copy
But... you know the album is on sale as we speak, right? If people want it they can go right ahead and get it right now. You can even find a copy for $1.

That's an incredibly bad idea. Box sets are always worse, because:
  1. They cost $250
  2. There is often way too much filler, so the quality suffers
  3. They're very cumbersome and impractical (ie you can't take them in your car, they don't fit on your CD shelf, etc)
  4. They're often released in very small quantities so you can't actually buy a copy
So they won't win over new fans, and they are very poor value for existing fans (because they are overpriced, and because fans already have most of the songs).

Ultimately, you've gotta decide who the audience is. EITHER it's existing fans OR it's new fans. That's two separate products. New fans can buy the original album at a great price. But existing fans shouldn't want an album they already own, they should be requesting NEW material on a NEW album.

Look at what Motown did with "Farewell My Summer Love". They didn't treat them as bonus tracks for "Forever, Michael 10", lol.

It must piggyback on Dangerous because of how Xscape turned out.
Huh? That's got nothing to do with anything.

define "filler"

I mean in stores. An 8 year old who has no idea who Michael Jackson is isn’t going to go online and search so it’d make much more sense for someone to stumble upon it in stores like Walmart or Target. As for boxsets, did you read the rest of the sentence? I clearly stated like BAD25 AND THRILLER40, you can infer what I mean by boxset. A set that comes in a case like BAD25 and THRILLER40 but has more than one disc.
