"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Not really sure how that link is confirmation of a delay?

anyway, can't wait for the most annoying people on the internet to start saying they were right and this movie is never coming out etc etc etc

Pulled from 2025 calendar!
??? I still see an Oct 3, 2025 listing as the new date.

It's weird they've shifted the date back and forth (removed, replaced, removed again). Only.hope would be for them to do a limited release before the wide release but there is a very minor chance of that being the case. Mostly likely it will get further delayed. Ugh.

Now that I've checked the site again. It was removed as "limited" release and added as a "wide" release. This ***could*** mean a limited release around TIFF (film festival) for critics and reviewers, which would be late september. Followed by the wide release early October. This change could also have been done today in advance of a possible Superbowl teaser (yes I'm still hoping for that) which would come with a firm date advertised.

They're having issues already but I hope they get everything situated for release or we'll be waiting longer than Taj's documentary

Lol that never happened either. It's was made up by Aarons mother and sister way back in the early 2000s at a time when Aaron was estranged from both. So There's no way that they got that story from him. They made it up, sold it to the media and Aaron denied it at the time.

Fast forward years later when he's in the throes of a drug addiction and needed money he decided to claim the old tabloid story it for himself.

Same s***, different liar.
I don't know about that story. Just for the record though. In one of his last interviews, he defended MJ during LN and wanted to punch Wade lol. Rip Aaron.

Hopefully these rumors aren't the reason for re-shoots. '93 has to be mentioned in the film. It changed almost everything.

No idea if this is legit info, updated from yesterday ...

"UPDATE: A rep for Lionsgate tells me nothing has changed. The film still has that October 3, 2025 slot on the release calendar."

also are we gonna get a two part film??

And remember that the "biopic top brass" has told Taj he cant release his project until after the biopic and aftermath is over with. So it means that project will be delayed even further. It already was pushed back at least 6 months by the biopic moving dates. Like I said before, its a nightmare for Taj to plan around the biopic, Leaving Neverland 2 and the upcoming trial!

Nobody knows. LOL.

Personally, I doubt it. It would be very late in the day (after years of all that pre-production work) to decide to do it as a two-parter. Trying to split it into two at this late stage would really mess up the script and the story arc, I would think.

So which on is it? Because they other blog says lionsgate denied this.
I would love a proper, official statement from Lionsgate. I posted the WorldofReel article bc it seemed to be a bit more up-to-date (imo) than the filmstories one - which just repeated stuff from the original boxofficemojo article - but who knows how accurate any of this really is? The worldofreel writer claims to have emailed someone at Lionsgate and had the response that the film is still scheduled for October 2025 but until Lionsgate speak out officially there's no way to know.

It's frustrating, for sure!

Lionsgate in their official earnings call today said the movie's production is finishing
Interesting!

The report goes on to mention that this came to light after the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland, specifically after a September story in the Financial Times revealed that John Branca, one of Jackson’s executors, paid out $16.5 million to the accusers in the Leaving Neverland documentary, with one deciding to seek an additional $213 million, leading to litigation from Jackson’s estate.

Wait, what? Branca paid out money to the accussers in Leaving Neverland? Robson and that other bugger were paid by the Estate???

Except if it's all a marketing strategy and it was always planned to make a two-parter, but present it as a late decision.

No, it's terrible journalism.
