They changed the lyrics of the bridge, which completely changed the meaning of the song. That song was about underaged girls being taken advantage of by older Hollywood men who make them do sexual things with false promises of fame and glory that never come true. And Michael wrote that it was based on a true story.
Michael's lyrics were trying to warn young girls about what would happen if they went to Hollywood:
She doesn’t even have a ticket
She doesn’t even have a way back home
She’s lost and she’s alone
There’s no place for her to go
She is young and she is cold
Just like her father told her so
She's too young to understand
She a streetwalker at her age
She's young and she's afraid
She sells her body to get paid
It's too much for a girl her age
Police is stalking her today
They now know she ran away
She is running cause she's scarred
But they changed the lyrics for this instead, now suddenly the girl did make it big in Hollywood and her problem is just paparazzi, totally different story:
She gave up her life to follow her dreams
Left behind everything for the movie scene
Nothing more she could want, she was determined to follow her plan
She wanted Hollywood, she wanted it bad
Now that she got her dream, she became a star
It all looked so good, but only good from afar
Imprisoned in every paparazzi's camera, every guy wished they could
Now it's back to reality for Ms. Hollywood
