John Branca - There will be no History 30th, we have Broadway show right now and a major movie coming.

I didn't know he was answering emails. He's probably not going to answer questions about when the trailer will be released, but can someone ask him how much screen time his character will have in the biopic? People want to know.

Ahh I was holding out hope after that HD Munich 1997 Billie Jean leak few years ago... I thought that was a project for HIStory 30

On the one hand, I expected as much.

On the other, I’m disappointed because HIStory deserves its moment in the spotlight, especially since a few of its songs (YANA, TDCAU) have been going viral.

On an inexplicable third hand, this means that they won’t release the HIStory Tour, which is a win.

I assume Branca means "it will have it's time" he means it will just be re-released after the biopic comes out instead of getting a anniversary edition

I thought this year would be a special year for MJ fans

With HIStory turning 30, there was hope for a reissue with Munich97 with a completely different look and sound along with demos, one or two unheard songs, etc

And most of all, the MJ biopic, which was due for release on October 3rd this year

But now look, the biopic  which possibility is gonna be delayed again to next year and the 30th anniversary of History is not happening

Really don't know what to say about the estate, especially J.Branca

There's no evidence or reliable report from Lionsgate stating the biopic will be delayed at all, but it certainly seems it might be at this point due to the complete lack of anything

the estate (and mj himself) dating the anniversary releases was a mistake
they locked themselves into possibly doing them every five years now
Metallica have stuck to anniversary years for all of their re-releases for their albums released from 83-96 so far. The only difference is the amount of content they put in their box sets is absolutely insane - and there is a market for it as all their sets require re-presses. I think the Bad 25 project really damaged the Estate's desire to put out any significant re-releases unfortunately. I still believe that Thriller 40 was so barebones because they wanted to test the waters with a physical release post LN. It sold quote well with no promo, so I think we could expect a significant Thriller 50 release.

I am not expecting any big release until a possible OTW 50 in 2009 which would line up with his 20th anniversary - we know that they like to celebrate his death given that they released a box set for TII!

They really fucked up by not releasing a History Greatest hits Volume 2 featuring all of the songs from Book II during the period they released the special editions
