Update on Biopic and Michael

Jackson projects

Thank you for your continued support of Michael Jackson's legacy.

We continue to hear from many of you about your disappointment with not having any official updates on the Michael biopic. So, we wanted to just let you all know that, just like you, the Online Team continues to ask for information on the film.

Rest assured that once the movie studio, who ultimately controls the release of the information, does provide information and/or assets, we will be sharing that information and/or assets with you!! And, like you, we hope that more details are released very soon.

As hard as it is to remain patient, we try to remind ourselves how Michael could not be rushed when it came to his art and how amazing the results were when he finally released each album, short film, etc. We are hopeful that the additional time and work on the film will serve to make it an even better movie experience for all of us and that our patience will be rewarded in the end with a film that we can all cheer for and celebrate as being Michael-worthy.

We also appreciate that the delays in the release of the biopic have the added impact of delaying the projects the Estate has planned, including well-deserved documentaries for

both Dangerous and HIStory and other projects as well. And while we appreciate and understand the additional disappointment that this causes for us all, we have confirmed that the Estate looks forward to being in a position to restart its efforts with respect to all of the projects that are planned to follow the release of the biopic.

We appreciate your outreach and excitement.

As soon as we have news to share, we will send another email out.

Well, this is one of the updates ever; at least it's an acknowledgement, I guess. I don't like the injection of "Michael could not be rushed when it came to his art"; going by internal sources, the time is being spent altering the original vision of the film, which I don't think Michael would quite be on board with.
The sentiment is understandable, but if they know as little as we do, let's not bring Michael into this until we see the product.

The fact that the Chandler case, and thus the truth, is concealed, while at the same time attempting to stay as close to reality as possible in the depiction of the death, strikes me as inconsistent and downright grotesque.

I'll reserve judgement for now, but I'm not overly keen on the idea of them recreating Michael's death at the residence he actually passed away in.

They did something similar in the film Blonde (Marilyn Monroe biopic) and it was extremely distasteful
Am I missing something, where's this rumor coming from

You mean about them filming at Carolwood Dr? Someone posted something about this recently, can't remember who, it'll be a few pages back. There was a film crew outside the property in recent weeks. It hasn't been confirmed afaik, so I'm not convinced it's connected to the biopic - although I can't see what else it could be. There's been some chat online that it might be for a documentary but, then, there's been nothing about that either. I'm reserving judgement on the whole thing until more info emerges. It's all too nebulous atm, imo.

Even if it IS connected to the Biopic it doesn't have to mean anything negative. It could also be just a scene where the camera shows the house and there will be a voiceover.
Agreed. For me it only adds authenticity to a film project that seems to be genuinely putting in the work to make this feel real and weighty.

And, if they do include MJ’s death -which I feel they won’t- maybe it has to impact the audience like a thunderbolt, as the journey towards his untimely passing was in large part due to the absolute inhuman way that he was abused and mistreated, and it has to be a cautionary tale, a lesson to be learned for the world to wake up.

I understand your concern, but at the same time, let the world see the car crash they created and/or were complicit in. Let them see the raw, human damage of their whims and mistreatment. People need to walk away from this film with a different perspective, and if people find that uncomfortable well then I’m sorry, but ya know, it was a pretty uncomfortable journey for MJ throughout most of his life.

As a fan, I watched the Conrad Murray trial when it streamed live and I read the transcripts from the AEG trial, and at this point, I really don't feel like reliving Michael's death again. But if I look at it from the perspective of someone from the general public, given that Michael died in such an unusual manner, if I went to see the movie and they just skipped that, I would feel like I was not told the full story, especially if I was too young at the time of his death to have seen that moment in real time. And when you consider that in 20 years from now, people who were not born during his lifetime will most likely still be watching that movie to learn about his life, then you can see it's important to tell the whole story, because they will want to know how he died.

Fair answer

If they decide to show his death, I hope they'll have him say the exact words that he said to Conrad Murray on that recording he made while he was drugging him. Not the first part, that the media loves to play just because he sounds drugged up, but the second part, the one that the media never plays because it actually shows what was truly in his heart, even when he was drugged up.

Remember when Michael said this in the Shmuley tapes:

"Even when married to those women that I was married to, I’d go to bed hurting. I was hurting. I was crying last night as I went to sleep and I didn’t sleep good last night. And I cry, Shmuley, because I feel this… and I’m not trying, I’m telling you the honest truth and if you don't believe me you can ask Frank. Frank knew how I was hurting. I just was feeling all the pain of the children who suffer and I was hurting so much."

You would think he was exagerating and that it was just a way of speaking. It's hard to imagine that he actually cried himself to sleep at night thinking about the children who suffer. But then you hear the Conrad Murray recording and you realize that it was really, literally how he fell asleep at night. Can you imagine how powerful and meaningful it would be if they have this be his final words in the movie before he falls asleep for the last time:

Michael : I’m taking that money, I’m building a children… children’s hospital. The biggest in the world. Michael Jackson’s Children Hospital. Gonna have a movie theatre, game room. Children are depressed. They’re in those hospitals, no game room, no movie theatre. They’re sick because they’re depressed. Their mind is depressing them. I want to give them that. I care about them, them angels. God wants me to do it. God wants me to do it. I’m gonna do it, Conrad.
Conrad Murray: I know you would.
Michael: All we have is this hope, no more hope. That’s the next generation that’s gonna save our planet. I’m starting with… We’ll talk about it. In the United States, Europe, Prague… My babies…. They walk around with no mother. They dropped them off, they leave – a psychological degradation of that. And they reach out to me – please take me with you. I want to do that for them. I’m gonna do that for them. That will be remembered more than my performances. My performances will be up there helping my children, it’ll always be my dream. I love them. I love them because I didn’t have a childhood. I had no childhood. I feel their pain. I feel their hurt. I can deal with it. Heal The World, We Are The World, Will You Be There, The Lost Children. These are the songs I’ve written because I hurt, you know, I hurt.
Conrad Murray: You okay?
Michael: I am asleep.

They wouldn't actually have to show Michael dead, they could just quickly show Conrad Murray panicking as he is hiding away evidence and frantically calling Michael's bodyguard to come back because something went wrong. Then they could show the news announcing Michael's death with Jermaine saying in that press conference, "My brother, the legendary king of pop, Michael Jackson passed away on Thursday June 25th 2009 at 2.26pm." And the movie would end as we see thousands of fans going to the hospital, crying. Then they could show a montage of real footage of Michael's life to comfort us as we sob like babies in the movie theater... no wait, that will actually make us cry even more, but that's okay...

But Michael's final words was "More milk". Conrad Murray recording is fake, no? Why would he started to record him just before his death? It's too suspicious

But staying on topic, I agree that if they were to do his death, I think it'd be subtle instead of literally showing him drop dead, I feel like that would be a little distasteful.

That recording is real, but it's not the final words, it's from weeks prior. It was later used in court iirc?
It was not his final words in real life, but it could be Jaafar's in the movie. It would be really fitting as an ending, since Michael is talking about how he wants to be remembered and all that. And then that "I am asleep..."

Absolutely @etoile 37
It should finally reach thousands of hearts...

I'm all for including those exact words... even if drugged up, it would be very real and it would have an impact.
That and the Chandler phone call should both be included in real version. No actors are needed. Real words.

As for his passing, this video still haunts me and the same dramatic moment would do the moment justice:

Lionsgate will make the announcement the week of the first original release date in a couple weeks. They will announce that they want to get this movie right, honor Michael how he deserves to be, and have all agreed to split it into two parts. The first of which will be coming out in April 2026, the second part in October 2026.

After this you won't be hearing anything about the biopic until October 2025 when promotion will begin.

It sucks it has to go this way , but they can't release a 4 hour movie in theatres. And no matter how much they try to shave it down, it doesn't work. With two movies, they figure it will gross more than one meaning more profits for everyone involved.

2025 will not be the year of Michael, it will be 2026.
NOTHING happened and we have May
