*IMPORTANT MOONWALK/GLIDING INFORMATION AT THE BOTTOM*
*ALSO if it says (# photo) disregard it because this is me copying and pasting from another post I made on Reddit*
*PHOTOS I AM REFERRING TO WILL BE ON THIS GOOGLE SHEETS I MADE*

Victory Tour 1984
Florsheim Como Imperial (3rd and 4th photo) He also wore a Florsheim Imperial Tassel Loafers (1st and 2nd photo) (same as ones worn in Motown 25)

Bad Tour 1987-1989
Florsheim Como, this was an old model of the Como, that is very hard to find on the internet (I labeled some pictures of it from a few eBay listings l've found over the past like 5 months)

Bad Cont.
Florsheim Como Imperial, it's very hard to find any pictures of his feet on tour, and the ones l've found are of the Como, BUT I've seen old auctions that state some pairs were given to a fan in 1987 (I think at an Australia show) and it was a Como imperial. So maybe that loafer as well but 100% he wore the Como.

Dangerous Tour 1992-1993
(100% sure) He wore Florsheim penny loafers And/Or Maybe Sebago and/or GH Bass weejun penny loaters

Both of these are penny loafers (so same looks wise), so it's hard to actually tell which pair he is wearing on any given picture. I know the picture I show is the Florsheim Penny because of the build of the lining on the back matches perfectly with pairs l've seen online.

1995 performances, and 1999 MJ & Friends Florsheim Como imperial, with the front replaced with some type of white elastic. This pair was the same for all of these shows, even with the 4 year stretch between its uses.

HIStory Tour 1996-1997
Michael wore the Florsheim Como Imperial, which was the loafer he wore for like 90% of the tour (can't for the life of me find a clear picture of just his shoes but it's obvious in like any foot shot in Munich

HIStory cont.
He also wore the basic Como for some shows like Gothenburg and Copenhagen 1997

HIStory cont.
In early shows like Sydney and Auckland 1996, he had a metallic either adhesive or full metal around the heels of the loafers. If you want that look literally look up metallic/or silver adhesive vinyl.
This is probably wrong but a thought for why he did this is maybe because the drums had a like a metal sound to them for these shows (you'd know what I mean when you listen to the shows).

MSG 2001
Both shows he wore the Florsheim Como a newer version (compared to the Como model worn in bad tour)

2001 cont.
Idk why, but when you look up MJ msg 2001 loafer, it shows an auction in 2009 saying QUOTE "The Sebago Cayman flat strap penny loafers and signature Fedora worn by pop icon, Michael Jackson at his ground breaking Madison Square Garden concert in September 2001", but one look at any picture of his feet from both days CLEARLY shows he's wearing a Florsheim Como.

2001 cont.
Also the sebago they have at the auction has a half and half leather heel, which is not what Michael would wear on stage (it'd be full leather heel).

This is It 2009
He wore the Florsheim Como for the few days he came in

This is it cont.
Nothing really special he did for this is it. I know we saw some red loafers he might have used for thriller, but what we see him dancing in is the Florsheim's.

MUST NEED ADD ON IF YOU WANT TO MOONWALK!!!
Michael's loafers ALWAYS had leather attached to the heel, which helped him glide and slide. By default, loafers have a rubber heel (it is black) which gives you no glide, so If you want to emulate Michael's style, you'll need a professional to add the leather heel in replacement of the rubber. This isn't expensive either, as heel replacement will cost between $20 and $50, depending on your local shoe cobbler shop.

I have these ones and nearly fell trying to walk in them because they are so slippery 🤣 . But in general they are very comfy.

Interesting thread, will read through it when I have the time, thanks!
You’ve got the newer version of the Como imperial. The quality of Florsheim loafers now have dropped considerably especially since they aren’t owned by the same people as when MJ was alive.

And It’s too late to recommend it now, but when I buy loafers I go on auction sites like eBay and find the older versions of the Florsheim Como/imperial because they have better leather, better cushions and sole.

When you do read my post and go into the google sheets, you’ll see that to be able to moonwalk you’ll need to replace that heel with leather.

I bought them from eBay, they are just sitting in my MJ shelf and have to look good 😁

I don't know how anyone can tell the difference between all the loafers, they all look the same to me.

But I love how fans have different MJ related interests and I love to read about it all!❤️
Thank you! I’ve really kind of made loafers my little niche in the community after trying sooo long to figure out how he moonwalked in them lol

🧚‍♀️ ✌️ 🧚‍♀️ Thanks for posting great work here!! Very Interesting indeed, now I have to have a MJ like pair
for my collection after reading this post teehee eeeheee owwww !
(y)🙌
I hope I inspired you to do so with my research! If you ever forget just come back to the google sheets I made, and it will have all the information you need in it 👍

Would love to know about two things if you're interested in sharing.

I've never heard of leather heels, do you mean that the whole of the heel is made of leather? I think of leather as a soft material so can't imagine them being used as heels or being easier to dance in. Would be interesting to see pics of this.

The other thing I find myself wondering is how he came across those shoes to begin with. I don't think they are made by an American company, unless they are widely available in the US, how did he find them? He must've loved them to wear them for the rest of his life.

He actually wore Florsheim for all his life, I forgot which book this was said in (might have been king of style), but that book said MJ wore Florsheims ever since he was a child.

In terms of the leather heel, yeah it’s literally just all leather. If you go to the google sheets I made (linked it in the OG post), then go to tab 2 and I show images of MJs loafers and even a picture of a pair I own. The full sole is already leather (which is why it’s slick) but companies knew that if the sole was slick, then the heel had to be grippy with rubber so regular common day people wouldn’t be slipping and sliding lol.

Yes, it was in "King of Style". And they are still slippery af, even with the normal heel 😂.

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't even realise the Google sheet had two pages, I love how you laid it out with photos and arrow markings. Well done👏

ill have better wording on the sheet soon when I get a chance to write it on a full sit down, but right now I think it still works for most people
