The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

are we gonna get this never heard song or not? i think TYLA is a very good song, we've never heard it before

All this petty little drama for a song that has been leaked online like 4 times now rofl

It's seriously beyond me how this song still retains so much hype when not only is the song not that good to begin with but everyone and their dog already knows how the song goes, it doesn't have anything new to offer by this point. And that's not even bringing up how half the song has already been leaked in HQ, it has practically long been heard and dissected. It baffles me beyond belief that there are people who are still willing to throw hundreds of euros at it given all that I mentioned.

I'll repeat to what AlwaysThere has said, can we for the love of everything move on to "Dark Lady" or something that's actually new? Please

I agree. Waste of time and money. Can someone already make us an offer for Rocker or Dark Lady?

Ok, now this I actually don't like. Switching up on songs once we actually have them is not fair. This happened to Chicago 1945 too. Like if you're not gonna actually appreciate the hype then it's not fair. Dark Lady is just gonna be next to be called "mid".

It's more so that we have multiple leaks of the song in varying sound qualities that's more than enough to give us an idea of how the song sounds even in CDQ, rather than the quality of the song itself. If this was for a song like GOAL which the only thing we have is one recording in dogwater quality then it's totally comprehensible for people to still want more from it. But with TYLA on the other hand it just feels like we're beating a dead horse at this point.

Part of it is because “Throwin’ Your Life Away” is, in my opinion, a very mediocre song. I hope it leaks for the community’s sake, but I’m more interested in the others.

I'd love to hear "Dark Lady". That snippet sounds really promising.

I think TYLA is a great song, and an official release would be fantastic. But to be honest I agree with ChanceToDance's assesment. We've practically 'heard' that song already, and the dramas initiated by childish "collectors" who can't stop tampering with MJ's original vision is tiring already.

That is true, but that's what happened with CGYWOOM as well. It's pretty much the lead up to it.

You do make a good point about how quickly fans move on from songs and it's a bit sad when you think about it - we spend years, decades being excited for them but a lot of the time when they finally leak everyone just goes "meh, mid." and they're rarely brought up again. C1945 and GYWOOM are really the 2 biggest examples of this.

Part of the reason I feel is because of how they tend to get hyped up too much by "insiders" or people who were somehow able to hear them firsthand, saying things like "MJ like you've never heard before", "chart hit on the potential", and them being sold for gazillions of thousands of dollars definitely doesn't help, but once they leak we see they were never that great to begin with, forgetting that said demos/outtakes tend to be shelved for a reason. And it's because they were always subpar or because Michael ended up focusing on better material.

And I'm realizing also that "Water" is the next song to fall victim to this kind of thing, I remember when the first snippet leaked it was described as being the most unique, and complex song of MJ's career but now a lot of it has leaked I'm seeing a lot of people call it mid and that it's just the same thing over and over again. Already being dismissed before it even leaks entirely.

That's exactly what I was gonna say. Water's depreciation has already begun.

That's the downside of these leaks. No sustainable hype.

I'm very much guilty of falling for that hype myself I cannot lie lol. But now that a lot of the songs that I was so interested in hearing have leaked I'm realizing those discarded demos are really nothing too crazy or special (I was pleasantly surprised by Just Remember but that's a rare exception). I'm trying my best to keep my expectations low so I don't end up feeling disappointed but I always fail at that lmao

I'm beginning to realize that a huge part of the fun is predicting and imagining what these tracks could sound like.

Take "Water," described by insiders (Trevis) as a masterpiece and one of the most unique pieces MJ ever made. It makes you wonder: What could it possibly sound like? What kind of stuff was MJ experimenting with at that time? Could he have revolutionized pop music again if the sounds he was creating were released to the world instead of hidden in the vault?

So many titles we consider holy grails just sound cool af. A name like "Crack Kills" makes you assume it's a dark track, perhaps with a mid 80s rap feel. Then a snippet leaked, and if it's authentic, it sounds nothing like what I thought, lol.

I remember thinking "Deep In The Night" would have a cinematic, "Smooth Criminal"-esque vibe, smooth atmosphere, but it turned out what it is. The same goes for "Chicago 1945", everyone and their moms expected a moody piece, but it ended up being a lost sister to "Billie Jean".

In a way, perhaps some of these tracks are better off staying unleaked. Once you hear them you can only say, "Oh, so that's what it sounds like", and the track you've been imagining for years is never the same again.

Could be fake, read the comments:

"Oh wow, the shelved track does sound really... not up to the standards of the released tracks huh, who would have thought"

I'm sorry if I think having a longer version of She Drives Me Wild (or any other released tracks) is more worthy than mumble demo n°234 lmaooo

Release the Future Records CDs :alien:

I knew my comment might come across as pretentious, I'm not great at expressing myself 😬, but I didn't mean to compare them to full album tracks.

For me, if the melody is strong and the vocals are interesting, that's enough for a song to have a lot of potential and be genuinely enjoyable to listen to. I mean, Jane Is A Groupie is one of my favorites for exactly that reason. I'd pick this one over Chicago 1945 any day.
