"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

"That’s the largest 24-hour trailer launch ever in Lionsgate‘s history and the most viewed trailer for any music biopic or concert movie in motion picture history.
Moviegoers can see the Michael teaser trailer next weekend attached to the release of Lionsgate’s Now You See: Now You Don’t"

So we can assume that the first full length trailer we will see during Superbowl (Feb 8) as it would be the best moment and the largest audience.

It actually feels like the right time for a biopic now. I always thought 15 years after his passing was too soon, but somehow it feels like the perfect time for this. Let’s do it.
I think it's easier to do a proper biopic when you still have witnesses from when the person was alive. And many have passed on who had been part of his life. I hope they will be honored in the movie too (Taylor, Dileo, Sammy Davis J., James Brown, Fred Astaire would be cool too, even if only by mentioning him).

There won't be a full trailer anytime soon.
The impact of the teaser would be greatly diminished if they'd put one out so soon.

The teaser will simmer for a while. It will collect viewings in tens or hundreds of millions for the rest of the year.

Attached to 'Wicked For Good' will be the teaser we now know. Mark my words.

I'm hoping that in between this teaser and possibly the full trailer (maybe it will debut at the Super Bowl?), we get some other promotional material

IF Hot Street is used as a vehicle for this film on radio/online etc. and is released a single, it has the potential to reach the top 10 in some charts - which would extend his streak of having top 10 hits in every decade since the 70s, the last being Love Never Felt So Good in 2014.

Hot Street is everything the general public would want from a Michael Jackson song in 2026 - catchy, danceable and immaculate vocals.

Thriller will go top 10 this week for the first time since 1984 on billboard hot 100.

Either way, hot street is the perfect song to release with this movie!

I just realised that Thriller got to #9 in the UK last week (it's highest UK position) so this feat is already accomplished!

100%. I've always said Hot Street needs to come out in some form. It's total Thriller era vibes, classic MJ vocals the public can identify right away. It's upbeat, catchy, commercial, and I think has a good shot at charting all around the world. If they were smart they would use this song.

Agreed. It's one of the strongest fully completed unreleased songs there is, but my absolute fear was that it was held off Thriller 40 to be "contemporised" down the line. I think it's absolutely strong enough to be a promotional single for the film.
