The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I'm not surprised that those titles in the movie seem to have just been made up. Just there for something to look at, really
I think it's unnecessary for them to do that when they could've just used outtakes that are already known of and some really having made it to the album's tracklist ("Nite Line", "Behind The Mask", "Carousel", "She's Trouble", etc.) that could easily fill in those notes, especially when they already included one real outtake.

Given that, and admittetly being on psychedelic levels of copium at this rate, but what if they're real songs that the Estate changed the titles (something they've already done with songs they released) and that's why Matt Forger isn't able to recognize them? It's so weird that they'd make up random titles and then happen to randomly include one song that's real.

I think they just included Hot Street in the list as an easter egg for fans. Don't think it's that deep, honestly.

especially when they already included one real outtake.
There could be a reason why Hot Street made it into the biopic. We'll see next year if HS gets released in some way or not.

Not everything has to be accurate - especially irrelevant things.

Besides, unreleased tracks in the biopic (even if its just the names written on somewhere) could require some licensing.

On the teaser there's been plenty of instances where they've put great attention to detail even in the smallest things. Yes, there are a few things they've taken liberties with, but there's also a decent possibility here that they were being accurate to a certain degree.

Would licensing be an issue when the Estate is producing the movie? Most of the songs I mentioned were songs the Estate has full rights to and were songs they put out themselves.

regarding Paradise, Midas, Obsession and Out of the Dark:

Matt Forger: „This is a movie and there may have been some liberties taken and I can not tell you where these titles came from. Those were not titles or songs that were in fact considered for the Thriller album.“

Is it also possible they’re authentic song titles Forger simply doesn’t know because they came from the pre-Westlake sessions, and they stretched the timeline? It just seems so weird they would include one authentic outtake and then make up the rest.
But we have never heard of these titles at all. I know, sometimes there are some songs we never hear of and they suddenly appear (Dreams Away, Lovin' You, etc.). There's nothing registered with these titles.

The only correlation I can make is "Paradise" is a lyric in both Baby Be Mine and The Lady In My Life.

And keep in mind that Quincy was known for hoarding tapes to himself, to the point of denying MJ's team access when it came time to edit the title track for the Thriller video. Add to the fact that Matt Forger's getting old, meaning his memory isn't as sharp as it should be, and tapes have proven to be missing from the vault before (e.g. "Groove Of Midnight"), and this whole situation becomes very muddled.

I'm not saying these titles are real or fake - some sound very fake (like "Midas" and "Obsession") and some sound somewhat real ("Backbeat," "Paradise," and "Out Of The Dark") - but I'm keeping the benefit of the doubt in case something comes up later down the line.

Actually, I think Forger has a very sharp memory. Maybe he wasn't around and has no knowledge of certain tracks, which is definitely possible.

I know 100's of songs were considered for Thriller, but we don't know how many were actually recorded by Michael.

Yes! I do like a lot of modern artists as well as MJ. For instance, one of my fondest "musical memories" surrounds the release of Kanye's "The Life of Pablo", which came out when I was 12. Very into Chappell Roan at the moment, too.

I also like a lot of rock/metal which came out during my teen years as well. I'm into music from all eras.
You gotta check out old metal

What would even be the point in coming up with random song titles, especially ones that don’t really make sense when there’s plenty of real titles they could’ve used

Yeah, it's dumb. But I wouldn't expect anything particularly smart from them anyway. Their thought process was probably something like:

"Whatever, let's throw in Hot Street since it's the only track that actually made it to the final tracklist. We can just make up the rest!"

Could also be titles of real song grooves that never were developed. They may be relevant as MJ lore

Could be working titles to songs we know well

Could be pre Thriller unreleased stuff

Or just things to generate trailer views and discussions like this…

The titles Hot Street and Billie Jean do pop in the teaser.

Bro is seriously gatekeeping a writer's demo that he basically already leaked himself on top of that. I hope this is a tease to the eventual leak of the full song or else this is just ****** stupid in all levels lol

Considering that its just a writers demo, I don't stress that it isn't gonna leak at some point
