"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

There is some misinformation in this post.

Today we have no evidence that Jordan was ever granted emancipation. We know he applied for it In 1995 not 1994. But there's never been evidence that he was actually granted it. A child doesn't just get emancipation cuz they asked for it. A judge has to make a decision on it and rule on it. And based on other evidence, it's possible that Jordans request was denied.

It was not 23 million. Jordan got 15 million. June and Evan both got 1.5 million. Please stop repeating on old myths.

Not to defend Jordan, but that 1998 lawsuit was clearly Evans doing if you look at the details. It's was basically a repeat filing of Evans and it's clear it was done on behalf of Evan.

Also if you look at the timeline leading up to the second lawsuit from Jordan it's basically a repeat of 1993.

-Jordan was living with his stepmother away from Evan from age 14 to 17. Just as he was living with his mother June.
- At age 17, Evan suddenly takes off with Jordan, nobody knows where they went. Jordan cut off all communication with his step mom and younger half siblings. Same thing happened in 1993. He stopped talking to June AND his 6 year old sister. Didn't speak to them for years.

-According to other evidence it appears during this time they were in New York with one of Evans brothers. Other members of Evans family ( like his mother Beatrice) also claimed during this time they had no idea where they were. So it seems it was just Jordan, Evan, Ray and possibly Evans other brother Larry. Hiding out for months. Then that second lawsuit was filed in Jordans name. It was filed when he was 18, but he and Evan ran off when he was 17.

So we have the same pattern of Evan taking him from his mother (figure), isolating him, Jordan cutting off contact with his mom, siblings and other family members and then a lawsuit/ claim is made against Michael for money.

Again I'm not defending Jordan, but 17/18 doesn't suddenly turn someone into fully mature adult just because the law says they are technically adults. The fact is when he filed that second lawsuit he had been with Evan, isolated from other family members for almost a year. Who knows what went on during that time.

I find the isolation and the cutting off contact even with his younger siblings to be a huge red flag.

Guilters will say he stopped talking to June because she let him be abused. But that doesn't explain why he would cut off contact with Lily, and his other 2 siblings who were all small children at the time. Or his step mom or his grandmother. None of them had anything to do with his supposed "abuse"

It leads me to believe that Evan had some kinda toxic hold on him. And this hold was strong enough to make him cut off contact with his other family members ( all of whom he eventually reconnected with once he got away from Evan)

Essentially Evan had Jordan accuse Michael of what he himself did. He's the one who isolated him and took him away from his family. He just projected that only to Michael. Evan is the real abuser here.
18 is basically legally an adult so Jordan didn't have to go off with evan

100 days and no new promotional material since the teaser. Doesn't anyone else find that concerning?

It's like when Disney started promoting "Solo: A Star Wars Story" only a few months released and then it ended up bombing (although to be fair, it was also because people hated The Last Jedi, and that one only came out 6 months prior).
No it’s NOT concerning!
Case in point: Literally every other movie roll out in the history of Hollywood/cinema..

The shorter the promotion window, the less time the media has to mount an attack against it.

Why is the Michael Jackson biopic rollout taking so long? This doesn’t feel accidental..
The Super Bowl is the last true global media event. If you drop a trailer there, you’re not promoting a film — you’re creating a moment. For Michael, that scale isn’t marketing. It’s alignment with who he was. For a $155M budget, delay isn’t hesitation, it’s a power statement. It quietly says: “We don’t need to convince you months in advance. We’ll reach everyone at once. Narrative control (critical) Michael can’t be “warmed up” gradually. If the cycle opens too early, premature backlash begins, and old narratives get recycled..By delaying, they compress the media’s reaction window. Soundtrack + trailer synchronization. They don’t want the soundtrack to exist as a standalone chart product. They want image + sound + moment to land together. That’s Michael logic. When Michael returns to the public eye, it has to feel inevitable. This isn’t about building awareness. It’s about building expectations for a moment. They’re not late, they’re compressing anticipation.

unpopular opinion maybe, but assuming they know what they are doing (and that's a big guess unfortunately) i don't think it's a bad idea that they aren't hyper saturating everyone's attention with this movie.

MJ is a controversial figure for many and they can't promote him like an Avengers/Nolan film. it risks backfiring. They are being parsimonious and mindful about what spaces to give him and when it's time to let him shine. Maybe it's intentional of them to cloak this movie in so much mystery and be so much stingy with what they let you see . Again, ASSUMING they know what they are doing lol

AI slop trying to explain every movie ever LOL

Do you think we will get to see the epic moment when Michael hangs from the cherry-picker? I thought it was a sure thing until I realized that they will go with the music video for Beat It and that they will probably show the Munich incident for Earth Song (as they should, since the accident had a big impact on Michael's health), but that show had a bridge instead of a cherry-picker. So now the only way they could show Michael hanging from the cherry-picker is either by showing one of those songs twice (which would unfortunately leave less time for other songs), or by modifying the bridge so that Michael can hang from the bridge instead, before the accident happens. If they don't do that, then the only other way to include it would be during a montage for one of his tours or during a real-life montage at the end of the movie. Which option would you prefer?

Only song I can maybe imagine them showing twice is Billie Jean. Full performance at Motown 25 and then maybe a short clip in some montage when performing on tour.

Wait, what? The Superbowl? Global?!

Um... Hate to break it to you, but on the global scale the Superbowl is a tiny event. Unbelievably tiny. You've basically talking 1 or 2 countries that watch it, and 193 countries that don't/can't watch it.

Speaking as somebody who does make the considerable effort to watch it, I'd describe it as a sport nobody cares about, being shown at the worst possible timeslot. It's the definition of the graveyard shift.

I thought they might have included Jarvis at the Brit Awards instead.

Either way, maybe they'll take artistic licence and put it during a different song.

Also worth mentioning that some of those countries that do watch the Superbowl don't get the US ads. I know the trailer won't be shown in Canada unless they pay extra for it to be shown as a canadian ad, and they usually don't.

They'd better not! He doesn't deserve attention just for acting like an idiot and most people don't even know who he is. I only watch the version of the Brit Awards where Jarvis is censored and it's in my humble opinion Michael's best performance of Earth Song. Jarvis is really a non-factor in Michael's life, including him in the biopic as if he were important would make no sense. However I'm sure it was the most important moment in Jarvis's life, so they can include it in Jarvis's biopic, if he ever has one.

If they're gonna show anyone interrupting Michael's Earth Song performance, it HAS to be this guy:

Yeah, that's true. I was gonna mention that but I thought I'd already made my point.

In the UK, sometimes the match is shown by a channel that shows no adverts at all. But if the channel does have adverts, it's for Tesco talking about their latest Clubcard promotion for Cadbury Dairy Milk, in an advert that costs about £100 to produce and £500 to show.

British people find it bizarre that Americans get so caught up in discussing one-off adverts.

Well, to be honest, I think the whole thing was a non-event. It was so short, even if you're expecting it, you blink and you miss it. It was literally over in a couple of seconds. I have no idea why they made such a big deal of it on TV for the next 3 days. Nevertheless, that is what happened, and for people in the UK, it's the most notable performance of Earth Song.

Having said that, for people in Germany, Wetten Dass would be the most notable performance of it.

Aside: Jarvis Cocker really admires MJ - he's said as much, plus you can really tell the influence on his dancing.

Thanks. I'd never seen that. The guys reaction is funny.

Kids that are less that 13 years can go but only with parents. Did you expect kids born in 2010s would go to watch Michael without their parents? They probably don't know who he is.
Excuse me?

A lot of people take kids and babies into R rated movies and kids play video games like GTA. Hip hop has been mainstream music since the late 1980s, children listen to that. Also there's those series of Kidz Bop CDs where children are singing all kinds of songs.

Do you think the biopic will also show this very normal side of Michael?
Well, I think they won't put in a scene like this, little to controversial 😂. But I hope they show his goofy side...I feel like the general public is not really aware of how funny he was, that would be great.

it's the whole opposite LMAO having such a low rating makes me think they might water down more "difficult" parts. putting words in my mouth, bah
