"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

That's because of organizations like ASPCA, Humane Society, PETA, Greenpeace, etc. They monitor movies/TV, circuses, SeaWorld, zoos, rodeos, farm animals, research animals, and so on. If you buy some shampoo, it might have something like "free from animal testing" on it.

I guess it is easier to use CGI too, although it's more expensive. Like those 2 recent "live action" Lion King movies, they couldn't train a group of real animals to do any of that stuff.
A real amimals would too difficult to train remember they are animals not humans
Both good points... it would make sense to use CG in such cases. I just wish it looked more natural. Maybe my eyes are too good, lol.

CGI bubbles is the least of our worries 😂 did you see how bad (no pun intended) the crowd shots were of the Wembley show? Legit looked like something you would find in a computer game.

It looked even worse when I watched it on a bigger screen 🥴

I wanted something raw and gritty , I want to see Michael get the shit beat out of him by Joe. I want to see the trauma he had to endure.

We’re basically getting a watered down lifetime movie.

I’m not the biggest fan of Paris but now I understand why she wasn’t happy with this.
I dont think you realize how disturbing it is for you to say this. 🤨😳

Yeah and why don't we add some Trial examinations to it? Let's make it like "Serbian Film". Lol
It's a Biopic that needs people of all age to go and see it. If you want raw and gritty just go and watch an experimental European film.
While we watch Michael at his best. With Lights, Sparkles and lots of colours. We need a feel good movie. We don't need more trauma and pain.

Are people still believing this? How is it not obvious that the studio is simply saying "**** you, we don't want to talk about anything negative"? Basically they're putting their fingers in their ears and singing lalala, hoping everything they don't like will go away.
They literally filmed the 1993 raid at Neverland Ranch, and there are leaked photos from the set. There was also an article recently that came out about how stressful it was for Jaafar.

This is incorrect as a part 2 has not been confirmed in any way.
I think they mean they can't confirm the exact releasing date of part 2, rather than not confirming the shooting of part 2, as they've already filmed the whole story 🤔

Twice in the trailer, we see Michael standing behind a glass pane, looking out. These scenes encapsulate the entire drama of his life, which was a prison, from childhood onward when he had to go to the recording studio instead of being able to play outside. And later, he became a prisoner of his own fame.

Well, it shouldn't be too dramatic, but also not too vanilla imo...I hope they bring across how much Michael had to deal with. I think it's an important part of his life, formed his character and made him who he was. People need to understand that about him, that's why it is nonsense to only show "Michael at his best". He was that great because of his background, it made him a fighter throughout his whole life.

Ok so you want a cookie cutter type movie where it’s all fluff and rainbows , got it 🙌

The harsh reality is that MJ’s life was far from fluff and rainbows. To this day, the man is being called a child predator by many.

This films needs to expose the truth and finally hit back at the hate on a global scale.

You are defo one of those fans that Paris said this film will cater to, those still living in fantasy land .

I don't think they have filmed much from late 90s and 2000s. If there was a sequel they would have to do more filming. I think the cut material of this first movie is mostly set in 1990-93.

Edit: This probably tells the intended timeline:
Tried to AI-enhance a chart from one of Colman Domingo's instagram stories:

Not confirmed but this is something. From the late last year:

"He continued, “While we’re not yet ready to confirm plans for a second film, I can tell you that the creative team is hard at work making sure that we’re in a position to deliver more Michael soon after we release the first film.”"

Yeah, I don't really see why he would give this answer if they weren't thinking about doing a second film.

For all we know there's another 'character breakdown' chart right next to it that goes from 1994-2009. I believe Fuqua reiterated 'life to death' even after principal photography had wrapped.

Also, someone in attendance at CinemaCon '24 thought they saw the baby dangling scene and the aftermath of the '99 Munich concert accident.

Even the extras are under strict NDAs and all recording devices were confiscated for each and every shoot. And it appears all of the "leaks" were intentional. My point is that it's been a highly secretive project; don't assume material doesn't exist just because we aren't privy to it. Lots of security and highly-guarded sound stages were employed during the production.

I mean, even when they transformed that public building into a vintage Toys 'R Us, nobody was able to catch a glimpse of anything or anyone during shooting.

The original script ended in 1994. Nothing beyond that was shot. Very little of the unused footage can ever be used.

Wouldn't we know if someone was cast as Lisa Marie? You couldn't really skip over his marriage. I feel like the casting would be annonced and be very hard to keep secret.

Perhaps, but if we still don't know who has been cast as Janet or even if Janet has been cast at all...
Siedah Garrett claimed she wasn't being depicted, and then we saw a photo of her and the actress portraying her.
And DiLeo's own daughter was under the firm impression that her father was omitted from the biopic. And then the trailer...
If Lisa Marie herself were still alive, she'd probably be just as much in the dark as we are.
My point is, we know exactly what they want us to know. Nothing more, nothing less.
Don't underestimate the power of NDAs, especially in a business where you can be utterly destroyed for stepping even one millimeter out of line.

I love when my words are misconstrued, feels great as someone with a communication disability and not traumatising in the slightest :censored:
🎯

[...] But...I always have the problem that I can't take it when someone else plays Michael. And that's nothing against Jaafar, I am sure he did an incredible job and really put his heart and soul into the movie. I just look at it and think "aaah, nah...no, that's not...naaah" 😂. Can't explain...can someone understand me? [...]
Yes. 100%

And I was kinda more impressed by the teaser 🤷.
Same. For me it was the stupendously brilliant editing that did it. Mind you, I watched it just once and haven't revisited it but, still, that was an awesome job they did. As for the actual trailer ... I'd honestly rather watch that video that @michaeljackson.nl already posted ...

(Just to be clear, I'm happy the promotion has finally started, hoping that the film will be good, relieved that the dreadful promo poster has been dumped and replaced with something that looks pretty good, wishing the film all possible success at the box office)
