The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Here's where the snippet comes from:

Is there anyone here who speaks German and is able to give a recap of the video and tell if there's any new info? The auto-generated subtitles isn't enabled in this video.

I just added subtitles. Sorry, I thought they would be generated automatically.

Michael obviously saw great potential in Bryan Loren and apparently continued to work with him on the sidelines later on.

As for the Dangerous outtakes, strangely enough, they're really nothing special, whereas Teddy Riley and Michael somehow surpassed themselves and their collaborations are truly top-notch and still sound timeless today.

For example, I think the song “Gigolo” by Randy with Bryan Loren is great. (It can be heard as the second song in the video.) Or Got To Be Right by Bryan Loren. Aren't these tracks even better than anything he did with Michael?

Seven Digits rounds things off nicely, of course. Even though what we hear there is only the earliest, raw version, it seems clear to me why, according to Bryan Loren's Black + White interview, it was Michael's first choice for BOTDF. In my opinion, Man In Black is also better than She Got It and Work That Body in terms of melody. (Although I love the songs, as they are unusual for Michael.)

Only Serious Effect has the potential to have made it onto an album too. But it might have needed a co-producer to lend a hand.

I don't know how the final version of 7 Digits sounds like but I think it has something special in it. The LQ snippet of the "chorus" sounds phenomenal. And I think "Don't Believe It" also has a nice melody. Hope to listen to them both soon.

I highly doubt the current estate is interested in releasing any Loren tracks. They've made this clear by rejecting Loren's offer to help to fix his songs.

And I see no reason to go crazy over 7 Digits. It’s cool but it’s basically a demo for other songs. It does sound good tho.

7 Digits on Blood would sound absolutely been there done that. Superfly Sister is incredibly unique actually.

Would you mind telling me in a PM who wants to sell these recordings? I won't post any names online or pass them on, but since I already saw the recent wave of leaks coming and I love nothing more than researching and discussing unreleased music with insiders, I'd love to get in touch.

I added the snippet to my Bryan Loren tribute at the last minute - I was told it was already out there, just not on YouTube yet. Apparently, this isn't the case, as I've read here and as some people have pointed out to me.
I wish I had the details still. It was on a forum that doesn't exist anymore/got merged into a new one.

I agree with that. Superfly Sister is really unique and i LOVE it. Seven Digits would have fit in with Ghosts and Is It Scary, since the latter two are obviously similar, at least in part of their lyrics.

Seven Digits doesn’t seem Like a scary song though. All 5 of the songs have an anxious, scary tone to them. That’s just how I see it.

What's scary about Superfly?
I wouldn't have thought to describe it as scary. But there is something about it. The lyrics could be understood as being about a mentally unhealthy lifestyle. But didn't someone once say that the final Seven Digits lyrics and title are a reference to war dead in morgues? That would definitely be scary.

@ueli84 have you heard the other Bryan Loren tracks which have been circulating like "Call It Off", "All The Truth", "Pressure", etc.? Are you able to describe those tracks?

And also, do you know the title of the snippets Korgnex shared recently, or at least know the era they're from? I suspect that the first track is the song "Don't Make Me Stay"
Thanks in advance 🙏

I think the issue is that “Seven Digits” sounds derivative of a handful of tracks on Dangerous, while “Superfly Sister” is unique enough to stand on its own and work within the confines of the BOTDF track listing. I like what we’ve heard, but I don’t think it would’ve worked alongside “Ghosts” and “Morphine” personally—but who knows what a finished version would’ve sounded like.

Unfortunately not, and I've never heard them either. I mean the other Loren tracks and the beats shared by Korgnex. (Which I actually really like because of their hip hop vibe.)

I’ve just asked Damien on twitter, so I will add it here if/when he answers

There's this snippet from the first DAT auction, that has a "give you seven digits when you die" line.

So there is a :
- In The Back more complete version than TUC?
- Seven Digit completrd version?
for In The Back, iirc it is just very slightly different. It’s been like 4-5 years since I was told about it so take this with a grain of salt I suppose since I could be misremembering details. From what I remember the later version is just a slightly different mix/production and that’s the main difference, no new vocals, basically like Gloucestershire’s “more completed version”.

As for 7 Digits I’ve never heard any version in its 100% entirety but I don’t think I’ve ever heard about a “completed version”. As @michaeljackson.nl said though you could probably comp together every legible line to make a “complete vocal version”, instrumental is very clearly demo stage.

Well that’s the “anxious” I mentioned.

“Love ain’t what it used to be” dun dun dun dunnnn

“Holy Mary Mercy Me, Can’t believe the Things I seen”

Honestly that’s the scariest song of the collection these days cause it’s so true.

we love Tree Of Life.

In the Back is killer. It sounds like that one Rebbie song Bryan did on her last album. In the Back has that late 90s, foggy afternoon city feel to it. It's moody, but calming. I would have preferred that finished as opposed to Superfly, and I really like Superfly Sister.

Also, does anyone know if the recent 7 Digits leak is the result of the Shana DAT selling or...?

ITB has a more complete version in terms of the production. Buxer said there were a lot of parts that were cut from the version we know and mentioned an organ piece played by Billy Preston being removed.
not cut, they just released an earlier version. The electric organ is on the mix done in 1999. Released on The Ultimate Collection was the mix done for Blood On The Dance Floor: HIStory In The Mix in 1997

I dont believe she sold a DAT but rather a cassette tape which I'm assuming is going to sound pretty not good. Based on the snippet quality, I would say probably unrelated to the sale, multiple fans have had that track for many years.

superfly sister is the much freakier track albeit less overt since he’s not moaning🔥🔥
Proves my point: Superfly Sister is also a meaningful critique on sex:

Love ain't what it used to be (hee)
That is what they're tellin' me
Push it in, stick it out
That ain't what it's all about (oh)

Dude give it up. He made In The Closet. He smacked Siedah’s ASSH on stage.
In The Closet is a meaningful song too ofc: 'keep it in the closet'

Siedah's slapping' is innocent slapstick, probably her idea or for the fans

If Prince is 'Sex', Michael Jackson is 'Anti-Sex' and pro LOVE

I would love to hear MJ on 'FutureSexLoveSounds' or whatever but most of their music is about getting girls in clubs and Mike didn't like that.. He just returned to dramatic, meaningful songs like 'Hollywood', about underaged girls, lost kids and lullabies to soothe the planet and never worked with The Neptunes or Timbo again

Considering Michael was a virgin at the time (he admits as much in the Glenda Tapes dated just before the Dangerous World Tour), I'm not sure his opinion on sex is all that meaningful.
