2026 new album/compilation/OST

I thought the reason we didn't get HOT STREET and NIGHTLINE on Thriller 40 was because they were holding them back for the Michael movie. It would make sense for them to be on the soundtrack as part of MJ's recording sessions for Thriller. HOT STREET was even shown written on the board in the first trailer
this is still not the soundtrack, and no, I wouldn‘t expect it on the actual soundtrack as well, more announcements are being prepared

It seems to me that amateurs were at work on the album and/or biopic, because Dancing Machine and Rock With You are relevant songs that are missing. Dancing Machine's disco sound gave the Jackson 5 a boost and RWY was at No. 1 much longer than DSTYGE.
Not alone that, but the entire Destiny album? Their first album they wrote and produced! Shake Your Body Down To The Ground would be another big one IMO. It was their set closer for 3 tours for a reason (4 if you include the Bad 87 Tour before encores).

My dude, no. It's a pretty solid OST album.
And yet nobody who wants to listen to Queen's music would ever put it on. Non-fans don't want live recordings or "rare" stuff.

Imagine if they were holding them back for a full new album.

Imagine wanting 1 or 2 new songs instead of 10.

Complaining isn't going to change the tracklist 😹😹😹
Obviously, but the tracklist is so bad that it has to be said.
I haven't read a single positive comment about it, and it's a
shame if a new fan, after watching Michael, ends up buying
this poor compilation when there are so many better ones
out there….and most likeky cheaper too."

I'll Be There, Never Can Say Goodbye and Who’s Lovin’ You are not included on any of the recent Michael Jackson compilations from Sony. That's at least one positive aspect. This brings many people into contact with the talent of young Michael.
I hope Who’s Lovin’ You is the version from the 2002 compilation Love Songs, which is very impressive.

I wish the movie huge success, but I hope the pitiful soundtrack completely bombs and no one buys it. As for new fans they would be much better off buying Essential instead. Estate needs to learn we are happy to buy new content, previously released but currently unavailable, especially on streaming, such as 80s extended versions and 90s remixes etc. We're not going to keep buying Billie Jean, Thriller etc over and over if nothing else is offered to go with it. We'll stick with our albums.

Problem is, people (idiots) DO keep buying the same thing over and over. The estate don't give a **** once they see the green. I hope Paris takes Branca to the cleaners

I ain't one who likes to feed trolls, but you're missing the whole point. The Boh Rhap soundtrack is a whole ass GH album with a little twist to match the biopic. The unreleased live performances are of famous songs and Live Aid is legit one of the staples of the band and amongst the first things you ever see or hear about them. I know a lot of now-fans that had the OST as their gateway into their discography.

You could really use some good sense sometimes.

It's the first time since the announcement really that the comments have been for the large part disappointed and/or annoyed. I've enjoyed the lead up because it was creating a buzz but they need to pick it back up now. This will be the first MJ related physical release I won't be buying, myself (outside of variants etc).

Seriously, I would be their target customer:
I am somewhat of a new fan. I liked mj a lot in my youth and just "returned" less than two years ago. I listen to mj via streaming and have no physical album apart from dangerous. I would be willing to buy a decent best of album ---- but not this one for sure!

A positive I’ve taken is the response from the estate who says the album reflects songs that appear in the movie but not necessarily the same versions.

I hope that means a few of the remixed stuff we’ve heard in the trailer and also live concert audio!

Ps, I’m looking forward to hearing adult MJ sing Ben from the 81 live album on the big screen! Always enjoyed that performance

It just means: the album does not represent what you hear in the movie, read: they just recompiled all studio album versions, the credits for "Ben" and the J5 medley gave that part away, they are straight from the (studio) live album by The Jacksons.

The MJ Estate Online team further made that clear by referencing the "This Is It" companion album - which is just studio album versions, too.

Tbh I’m not bothered about this companion album , I just hope we hear what I mentioned in the movie itself!

Who is going to buy a MJ Greatest Hits album with Jafar on the front cover? It seems like the Estate hasn't thought this through.
woke up to the vinyl being sold out on Amazon, do whatever yall want with that info
