2026 new album/compilation/OST

So when Andrew Garfield said he wasn‘t in Spider-Man, did you believe that as well?

Seriously, what other answer would you expect from the Estate?
Mmhh, but I wouldn’t compare the two.
Garfield was asked in person and decided to lie in order to keep the secret.
The situation and the wording of that statement is something different.
It’s typical estate speech: condescending & out of touch sounding.

I’m pretty sure that it is Sony who is handling the soundtrack/companion album, not the Estate
I don’t understand that some are always trying to separate the two.
Sony can’t do anything regarding MJ’s music without the estates blessing.
The Estate can’t release MJ music with another label, it has to be Sony, only if it’s explicitly stated in the contract they have or if it is such an obscure re-release as the mofi thing.

Sony is in the MJ estate business.
MJ estate is in the Sony Music business.
There is no other way around it!

Is this the official soundtrack? I've heard that it's only featuring 13 iconic songs from the movie and surely it has to have more than that, right? Someone pls tell me ty

They're reissuing a bunch of albums on SHM-CD in Japan + a J5/MJ GH album.
Yeah, it's just a Japan only release of catalogue material.

Releases of "new" material from the vaults is handled by US hq.

I'm surprised Motown hasn't promoted a compilation of unreleased music to coincide with the movie release.

If the companion album follows the formula of sequence each song is played in the movie, then we're definitely ending in the Bad era

Well, they're including 8 songs from a previously unheard live recording of their 1973 Japan tour stop in Osaka.

I ain't one who likes to feed trolls, but you're missing the whole point. The Boh Rhap soundtrack is a whole ass GH album with a little twist to match the biopic
And it was a very poor introduction to the band. Very poor. There are at least 10 albums that a newb could buy instead of that one.

And for any fan, they don't want "Keep Yourself Alive (Live at the Rainbow Theatre)". They want the full Rainbow concert. And they don't want "Now I'm Here (Live at Hammersmith Odeon". They want the full Hammersmith concert.

Fans don't want 3 minutes of live songs, they want 73 minutes.

Live Aid is legit one of the staples of the band and amongst the first things you ever see or hear about them
Yes. It's possibly the greatest live performance of all time. It's why I've got the Blu-ray of the concert.

But the fact remains, if you're not immersed in the full show, then listening to "Ay-Oh" on its own is completely pointless.

Unheard??
You've just reminded me that a quadrophonic mix of that live album was released. Too bad they didn't put it out on a SACD with 4.0 surround.

Also, „…the only album release connected to the film“ has nothing to do with for example remix, album/single and video releases.

Means that all Mj albums appear again as vinyl?

SHM-CD is simply supposed to be more resistant that standard CD. My statistics are that over something like 13 SHM-CD I own, at least 6 have read errors. Snake oil I would say.
(Regarding sound quality, I have no hope that it won't be brickwalled remasters.)

EDIT: Well, I read that some of the released will include the quadraphonic mixes, and if I remember well they were prevciously only available on vinyl, it's likely the Greatest Hits though info isnt totally clear.

I'm beginning to think this "Chuck" message is fake... Where is the reminder that we can pop to Vegas to see ONE???!!!! 🫠

I have read that all albums will be re-released as vinyl in April also history invincible would be cool

I had read (here and elsewhere) that the remaining albums including BOTDF will be getting the MOFI treatment, so I'm surprised and disappointed that BOTDF has been excluded.

Do compilations really work these days as cd sales? Anyone could have that as a playlist now?
You're entirely right. It's strange the way people are making a big fuss about this when it's just a CD that won't affect anything. The whole concept of an album no longer exists, lol.

Very true. Each Sony release sounds worse than the previous one. At this point MoFi SACDs are the only thing worth getting.
