They have to be praying to find something like the "disparagement clause" in the HBO agreement. There simply cant be a worthwhile sequel if the allegations cant be addressed. But I dont know whats stopping them from changing names and creating a mix of the accusers from 93 and 2003
I think they will unfortunately have to just go much less factual with it. A shame as they clearly tried to show a more realistic take in the original version.

🧐 I wonder if there is ANY PHOTOS of Michael's wardrobe from Gaga's 400 piece collection being handed over to the production company itself or to Jaffar directy!
How freaking cool is it honestly to have Lady Gaga on set watching everything and loving every single
take of this MICHAEL movie MAGIC with the entire Michael Cast!

I love her for doing this for FREE for Michael's Legacy and his Loyal Fans!!!!

Do we have a legit source for the Gaga involvement though?

Am I the only one who, based on Ben's performance, thought it was a biopic about Jermaine? He looked so much like his father

I wonder what the chances are of an expanded soundtrack? I was just thinking - they release a bare-bones CD containing the BIG hits and narrow down the streams to a select few songs to really drive the sales/streams up for the big songs (which has obviously worked).

When the dust begins to settle down the line after what will hopefully be a very successful theatrical run, release an expanded version of the soundtrack including the songs that didn't make the album - Doggin' Around, Stand!, Dreamer etc along with the live songs that use the Wembley '88 performance (I'm pretty certain new instrumentation was used to make it sound more like '84 than '88.)

The CD release really is a puzzler if not, because there's still over 15 mins wasted on there (even if it's likely that they wanted to keep it to a single LP).

I'm surprised at how much I've been listening to the Michael OST the past few days if I'm honest. It helps with forgetting about the distraction as a fan of what they didn't cover, and more about the film as presented to us.

I've got to say the more I think about it, the less optimistic I am about a second part. I just don't see how they cover that topic. It's going to be a very very uncomfortable film.

It would literally need to be as different as Aliens is to Alien

you know - I visited the forum a year back and this is what everyone was saying then - but looks like all of you went and watched the film, so....
Everyone was saying that a second film needs to address the allegations because the first one didn't a year back? Don't really understand what you're trying to say here in relation to what I said.

The biopic was great, I mean, I do have very small issues with how they changed facts and the pacing issues. But it doesn't deserve the hell bombing that was given by those critics.
It's a 9.5/10 biopic for me. It's amazing, I love how Colman Domingo and Jaafar act so well! They're so amazing, I hope both of them get an Oscar nomination!
Hopefully we get Part 2 soon enough.

Sorry, let me explain. Forget the timeline but at some point, news broke that they couldn't include the allegations in the film anymore. They decided to still release the movie and I remember reading in this thread over and over, people saying they won't watch it if allegations are not addressed.

It would be very surprising if a film portraying Michael Jackson’s life realistically were comfortable. There’s nothing really comfortable about his life, especially after 1993.

It definitely doesn't carry the same weight it used to but statistically being nominated for a major award boosts box office by 10%-30%, and winning by 20%-60%.

Take Parasite as a random example. Before award season, it played in 1,060 theaters. After it won best picture, that number increased to 2,001. -- Pre Oscars in earned 1.64 million, post Oscars, 5.86 million..
That's still nowhere near what a MCU movie makes at the box office, even the ones considered to be a flop like The Marvels.

I wonder what the Michael movie would have been like if Ryan Coogler directed it.

Someone theorized they might have released the barebones CDs as a way to not pay royalties to the music producers and musicians that worked on the film and that makes a lot of sense lol. So I'm not expecting anything

Lady GaGa Lends Michael Jackson's Wardrobe to the MICHAEL Biopic for FREE!

There’s something truly special about an artist recognizing the legacy of another, and this moment captures that perfectly. When the producers of the Michael biopic needed authentic pieces from his wardrobe, they turned to Lady Gaga, who owns part of his iconic collection. Instead of treating it as a business deal, she chose to offer those priceless pieces for free, asking for only one thing in return, the chance to be present during filming.
It says a lot about how deeply Michael Jackson’s influence runs, even among the biggest stars in the world. Gaga didn’t just admire him from afar, she preserved a piece of his history. The Thriller jacket, one of the most recognizable costumes ever worn, isn’t just clothing, it represents a moment that changed music and visual storytelling forever.
Being on set while that jacket was brought back to life must have felt surreal. Imagine watching something so legendary, once worn by Michael himself, now becoming part of a new story. For Gaga, it wasn’t about ownership in that moment, it was about witnessing history being honored in real time.
Behind the scenes, moments like these add a layer of authenticity that audiences can feel, even if they don’t know the full story. It’s not just about recreating a look, it’s about carrying the weight and emotion tied to it. That jacket isn’t just fabric, it holds memories, energy, and a legacy that continues to inspire.
In the end, this gesture wasn’t just generous, it was deeply respectful. It showed how one artist can honor another, not through words, but through action. And in doing so, Lady Gaga became a quiet part of the story, helping keep Michael Jackson’s magic alive for a new generation.

Uh, not wanting to spoil the party, but this is kind of creepy. How is it generous for a person to lend stuff that belonged to his dead uncle and she bought it at an auction after unrelated people to his uncle took hold of it and sold it? Lol
