2001 Re-Issues / Invincible

What was on the second disc?
Called The Remix Collection. 10 remixes of the songs.

I think you are severely exaggerating how much this topic matters to the average music listener in 2026, much less in 2001 when high quality audio was far less accessible.
I'd actually say it was the opposite. These days you have lower quality masters, that have been put through data compression, them played on lower quality speakers on a TV or phone, with zero stereo separation.

It's quite a lot worse in every aspect.

Is there a picture of the uncensored artwork by Uri Geller that made its way into the booklet of Invincible? Allegedly, Sony had it analyzed beforehand and then modified it.

And lets not forget that sound quality has always mattered. It's why MJ tried so hard to make sure his albums sounded as good as possible, winning awards for sound quality.

Michael's career IS these albums. Literally. These albums are sacred. Why wouldn't you want to be as close to that as possible?

When the reissues sound so bad, it's amazing anybody became a fan.

except invincible, where he agreed to let sony brick the sound through the mastering because it was trendy at the time. only like 2 invincible releases dont sound constipated

I'd much rather listen to the 2001 mixes than whatever mess the Dolby Atmos mixes have been.

Indeed. One of my responses on the previous page was half joking - "maybe that's another reason. Get people used to Thriller being brick walled, then they won't notice how bad Invincible sounds either."

What is wrong with the sound quality of the 2001 cds?
They've been compressed into oblivion. So have Thriller 25 and Thriller 40. They sound worse than the cassette version, and the worst thing is, it's entirely deliberate. Not something you would ever want to listen to.
