2025 new album/compilation/OST

[...] They expect Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Bad, Smooth Criminal, Black or White, etc.
But they will get all of those.

The public in 2025 doesn't think of "One Day in Your Life" and "Ben" as Michael Jackson's hits. [...]
It would be weird if the film showed the J5 era - which we know they are going to - and did not refer to this period also being the start of Michael's solo career. It doesn't need to take up much time but I would expect it to be in there. And 'Ben' is a really well-known song.

Both Off The Wall and Thriller have the same running time, 42 mins 20 seconds.

Vinyl limits how much music will fit on an album. Once CD became the standard, you could fit a lot more. That's why Dangerous and every album after that was more like 75 minutes.

I hope they will just release Invincible 2025 aniversary album to promote both movie and album. And it will include 4K updated definitive cut of You Rock My World Video + unreleased material like Rampage, GYWOOM + new remixes of songs. I want to listen Heartbreaker remix with Taylor Swift collaboration! THAT WOULD BE A BANGER

We'll be lucky if the Estate even writes a post acknowledging that the album exists lmao. It was total radio silence from them when Invincible turned 20.

That's so bad. Album needs more recognition! At least on tiktok or youtube shorts

Heaven Can Wait has been going viral on TikTok for the last 2 years, it's just that all MJ's team has done about it was adding an official audio for it on there with a strangely long title "Heaven Can Wait (If the angels came for me, I'd tell them no)". I mean I kinda get it because what else can you do with it, but it's just kinda...lame.
As for the album itself, (as I mentioned in another thread) they just added the canvas on Spotify, and that's about the first time they have aknowledged Invincible since quite a while lmao. Chances for them taking advantage of it somewhat rising in popularity (e.g. a 25th re-release) are maybe a little bigger right now, especially with the biopic coming out, but them just not doing anything for that album at all is also very likely seeing how they treat other anniversaries outside of Thriller.

Still, they never did any anniversary events since 2001! Only Invincible album missed all anniversaries. That's not right. I hope they are planning to make something big in 2026. At least 4K remaster of YRMW with a few remixes would be great. I wonder, can they release some of original songs from Invincible as a single? They released LNFSG and APWNN as signles recently, so maybe they still can release single songs nowadays.

LNFSG and APWNN were both released in 2014 though.
Also worth mentioning, in 2018 Rob Stringer (Sony Music CEO) did say they wanted to stop doing posthumous albums and focus one-off singles instead but like...that was 7 years ago and nothing came of that except for the Mark Ronson remix / medley.

It's obvious they are embarrassed by the album and want to sweep it under the carpet.

Um, what? The industry doesn't release singles any more, they haven't for more than 10 years. Singles simply don't exist.

The Elvis soundtrack was released on the same day as the film, the first single over a month earlier. So we can expect the first single from the Michael film to be released at the beginning of March.
What else we know is:
It was first confirmed by Michael's son, Prince, at the MJ LIVE tribute concert at Harrah's Showroom in Las Vegas on October 12, 2023, that the production team was looking over his father's unreleased music to use in the film.[1]

On January 28, 2025, Joseph David Jones, who portrays Jermaine, revealed that the film's soundtrack features a blend of original songs by Michael, alongside re-recordings by Jaafar and the rest of the cast.[2]

On April 20, 2025, Mirror reported that the Michael Jackson Estate has been "exploring songs in his archives, which could feature in the blockbuster." It was revealed that producers have been reviewing outtakes from the Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous recording sessions to modernize them for the film's soundtrack eventually. It is claimed this wouldn't only raise the chances of the film receiving an Oscar nomination, but it'd mark Jackson's return on the charts.[3]

I'll buy that they have issues with Invincible but what about Dangerous and HIStory? It's like the estate thinks MJ fell off the face of the Earth after Bad 🤦‍♀️
This isn’t exclusive to MJ’s estate. Every artist’s estate only focuses on their artist’s most commercially and/or culturally successful eras. This isn’t an excuse because MJ’s later works are getting a resurgence via social media, but it’s not at all surprising that the Quincy albums are at the forefront of their attention (especially because his ‘90s works are intrinsically connected to the allegations, which they don’t seem keen to acknowledge).

He sadly doesn’t. I believe someone asked him, and he only has cassette mixes for most of the unreleased songs in his possession.
We heard the song during his seminar in August ‘25.. when asked why this version sounded different, he said: ‘because it’s my own mix, you see..’. I know this, because I was there..

Also the thing sounded wayyyy more hq than a mere cassette rip. A lot better than the recent leaks too. If it was purely from a tape, a high end studio speaker setup will make sure you hear that!

Because the versions that are on streaming services right now sound like shit. The 1988 mix also isn’t available, only the shitty remasters.
You are right in saying that the versions of the Bad album on streaming services right now sound horrible, specifically, only the 2012 remaster is available, however, MIXING and MASTERING aren't the same thing, yes the true 1988 mix isn't available... but the 2012 remaster is the exact same mix by Chris Currell (or at least it contains all the re-recorded elements from his remix.) just mastered like shit, like you said.

Still, what you're asking for simply isn't possible, because if they included the "original versions", let's say of Smooth Criminal... they would just compress it and brickwall it just as much as the rest of their releases in the past.

Regardless of the content they're releasing with the Biopic soundtrack, whether it includes Hot Street or older mixes like Smooth Criminal's 1st version, there's only one thing that is for certain: the soundtrack will be mastered like shit.

So yeah... I'm sorry brother but your request is fantasy at this point lol, I get you though

Paradoxically, the more MJ remains a mainstream figure with wide popularity — which is the point of product like the biopic — the LESS likely we are to get the kind of releases that we as hardcore fans want, because those releases would telegraph that MJ is now a « niche product ».

We can’t both have a biopic that grosses a Billion dollars and Invincible 25. One cancels out the other.

the soundtrack is more likely to have either the 2012 remasters or completely new versions than bring back the original mixes michael himself ditched after a while lmao
