Michael Jackson’s Medical Exam Record Missing

Thursday, 6 August, 2009 - 10:56

Insurers for the late pop icon’s ‘This Is It’ 50-date London residency were astounded when the report they received from Dr. David Slavit declared the singer to be in perfect health, joking it appeared to have been “based on the body of an astronaut”.

Officials at insurers Robertson Taylor were puzzled as to why the ear, nose and throat specialist’s report made no mention of the ‘Thriller’ star’s well-publicised health difficulties – including a severely burnt scalp, broken leg and extensive cosmetic surgery – and demanded their own tests be carried out before agreeing to insure his shows for promoters AEG Live.

An AEG spokesperson said: “AEG did not hire a doctor at any time in connection with securing insurance. Dr. David Slavit performed the medical exam which was submitted to the insurers as part of their underwriting.

“AEG has never received a copy of Dr. Slavit’s medical exam. A second medical examination was scheduled in the UK when the tour arrived. The policy was issued in a fictitious name.”

No-one has actually seen Dr. Slavit’s original records of the medical and Robertson Jackson had wanted to do a full examination on July 11, the day after seeing the ‘Bad’ hitmaker perform a planned full rehearsal at London’s O2 arena, where the shows were scheduled to take place.

However, because the star died of a suspected cardiac arrest on June 25 – after the insurance deal had been agreed but before “subject to” details had been verified – the promoters are now in dispute with the insurers over the validity of their agreement. The singer’s medical certificate had been issued in the name M. Jones but this is said to be standard practice for celebrities to prevent any embarrassing personal health details leaking out.

It was revealed last week the singer’s autopsy results have been delayed indefinitely.

It has been claimed the release has been postponed while police investigate Jackson’s death.

A law enforcement source has claimed the delay is not the result of problems with the toxicology report or questions over how the case is being handled.

Court records show police are currently investigating whether Jackson's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray - who was with the 50-year-old singer when he died of a suspected cardiac arrest last month and gave him CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) - had contact with other people in the medical field, including Dr. Slavit.

Concert promoter wants Jackson answers
Randy Phillips, CEO of AEG Live, is demanding to see the results of medical tests carried out on Michael Jackson that passed him fit and healthy to perform his 50-date London residency.

Michael Jackson's concert promoter has demanded "answers" from the late star's doctors.

Randy Phillips, CEO of AEG Live, who were staging his 'This Is It' 50-date London residency, wants to see the results of medical checks taken by the 'Thriller' star - who died of a suspected cardiac arrest last Thursday (25.06.09).

Michael was passed fit to perform and then died suddenly, amid rumours of a painkiller addiction.

Randy said: "Maybe they didn't do a good enough job. We want answers. We have poured millions of cash into Michael's comeback.

"All the tests pointed to him being in fine physical shape. It's a complete mystery. The insurance company had an independent physician fly out from New York and give him a five-hour exam.

"We were told he passed with flying colours. Now I would like to see the results. If he was taking that amount of prescription drugs, wouldn't that have been picked up in a blood test?"

It is believed that the stringent medical included over 50 different checks and tests. As a result of Michael being passed fit, AEG Live secured insurance cover for the first 22 concerts but were unable to convince insurers to cover the full 50 shows at a cost of £300 million.

The promoters now face multi-million pound payouts to ticket-holders.

Randy added: "We must know the results. I don't know what our legal rights are."

Randy also spoke about his final conversation with the singer, at rehearsals the night before he died.

He told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "He did a three-hour rehearsal and we all finished up at 12.30am on Thursday morning. He was really excited.

"He was super-charged and did a group hug with the director Kenny Ortega and his manager. He was like a kid in the candy store - he was so up for it.

"I walked him out to the car and he put his arm around me and, speaking softly like he always does, he said to me, 'Do you know what - we are here, we are going to make it. I love you for doing this and now I know I can do it.' "

Meanwhile, it has been claimed ABBA are set to perform at some of Michael's

O2 arena concert dates.

The quartet have so far resisted offers to reform following their split in 1983, but AEG Live are hoping to get them to sign up to take on several of the vacant dates.

David Campbell, chief executive of AEG Europe, said: "There's a little foursome out in Sweden we keep talking to."

A source close to the 'Super Trooper' hitmakers warned a comeback would be tricky.

The insider said: "There are millions on the table. But there are many hurdles to overcome."

Michael Jackson's tour promoters may not get insurance payout

Robertson Taylor, London based insurers of Michael Jackson's 'This is It' tour, are balking at paying the multi-million dollar insurance cover to AEG, alleging they were given a false health report.

August 05, 2009, (Sawf News) - Robertson Taylor, London based insurers of Michael Jackson's 'This is It' tour, are balking at paying the multi-million dollar insurance cover to AEG, alleging they were given a false health report.

Weeks before the scheduled start of the London concerts, Dr David Slavit examined Jackson and filed a glowing health report painting Jackson so healthy it appeared he had "the body of a Nasa astronaut," says a Robertson Taylor official

The health report did not mention any of Michael's existing health problems, like his burnt out scalp from the Pepsi commercial, reports OK! magazine.

When the insurance brokers sent their doctor to examine Jackson, the doctor was turned back and told the pop star was unable to see him.

An insurance cover policy was provisionally inked subject to a repeat test scheduled on July 11. Jackson died on June 25.

A spokesperson for AEG says, "AEG did not hire any doctor at any time in connection with securing insurance. Dr David Slavit performed the medical exam which was submitted to the insurers as part of their underwriting. AEG has never received a copy of Dr Slavit's medical exam. A second medical examination was scheduled in the U.K. when the tour arrived."

Interestingly, Slavit is one of the doctors being investigated by LA coroner officials and has been subjected to a court ordered search.

A bit more info on Slavit:
Michael Jackson Death Investigation: Who Is Doctor David Slavit?

Access Hollywood - August 25, 2009 6:16 PM PDT NEW YORK, New York -- Doctor Conrad Murray has been the center of police and media attention since the death of Michael Jackson on June 25 at the age of 50, but a number of other doctors names have been brought up recently in legal documents, including that of Dr. David Slavit.
Slavit, an ear-nose-and-throat specialist, based in New York City, administered Michael Jackson's physical in February of this year, which the pop star reportedly passed. The physical report allowed Lloyd's of London to issue the insurance policy on the pop star, under the name of "Mark Jones," according to the Los Angeles Times, to AEG Live in relation to his London concert dates.

So who is Slavit?
So far, the doctor has remained quiet in the aftermath of Jackson's death on June 25 at the age of 50, despite requests for comment from various media outlets. Access Hollywood is amongst the outlets that have requested interviews with him and have been turned down.

A receptionist for the doctor reportedly told Britain's Mirror newspaper, "He will not be speaking."
But some details have emerged despite the doctor's silence.
According to the NY Post, Slavit, 48, has previously treated singers including Margaret Lattimore, a mezzo-soprano, who has been nominated for a Grammy.

"There's nobody I would trust more with my voice," Lattimore reportedly told the paper. "He's a fabulous doctor. Very discreet, incredibly professional, and the gentlest, sweetest man you can imagine."
Slavit, 48, is married to wife Robin, 49, and the couple lives in New Jersey with three children, the Mirror previously reported.
His father, Leonard Slavit, is a lawyer and defended his son in a lawsuit in 1999 over alleged unpaid rent, which was settled out of court, according to the NY Post.
"I found him to be completely dishonest or I wouldn't have had to sue him to get the money he owed me. I eventually got it," Dr. Howard Belin reportedly told the NY Post. Dr. Belin rented space in his NYC townhouse to Slavit and claims Slavit left before paying $41,000 in unpaid rent and $12,000 in damages, he told the paper.
As for his relation to Jackson, according to AEG Live's Randy Phillips, Slavit was, "hired by the insurance carriers" for the physical.
"[He] was hired by the insurance carriers to come out here," Phillips previously told Access Hollywood. "He gave Michael a pretty grueling five-hour physical and did all the tests...we were never privy to the patient doctor information, which we wouldn't be. But our insurance broker told us that Michael passed with flying colors - those were the words -- and all he had was a little hay fever."
Phillips said AEG received the policy, which would not have been issued without the physical report.
"We got an insurance policy because of the physical," Phillips told Access. "Lloyd's of London would not have given us a policy if there was something wrong in that physical."
According to the LA Times, per a reported deal with AEG, if any of the $17.5 million policy is eventually paid, 100% will go to the Jackson estate.

Hm. Maybe someone can explain to me why the insurance company would have demanded another physical in London if the first one came back a perfect picture of health?
Did they doubt the report? Not one piece of this is adding up?

there is nothing wrong with what the articles stated . the doctor was hired by the insurance carrier , AEG had nothing to do with it, they had no right to see mj medical records , the insurance company said the doctor they hired told them mj was in great shape , AEG was told mj was in great shape by the insurance company .

nothing is lost , simply AEG had no medical records of mj , he signed under perjury that deal where he insisted he was in good shape. if any it was mj who was not trustful but the doctor for the insurance confirmed mj's statement .
