thank you for the report of your trip! wow i am happy that you had a great time here, and you liked the city:)
No it was not me with Bad t-shirt ( i have not been wearing MJ shirts for years.loool) but maybe i know that fan...i heard of a few who live around Szentendre.
Haha cool pic of the Marzipan...it is too funny. :D
Hm the long street at the Heroes square is just at the right side...it is very long probably now it is parking place and stuff, in every June they organize there a free concert with big stars (like previous years with George M. Bryan Adams, Sting, Pink etc) and usually about 150.000 ppl attend..so it is really huge.
It is great that you also came ot the Gellért hill (i live on it) from the Ciitadelle there is such a beautiful view on the city, right? :p i am just few minutes from there and go often up for a walk:)
So at the Kempinski hotel you also saw Michaels window?haha it is on the right side at the top....(we poor fans could hardly see his face when he looked out, it was so far).
unfortunatelly now due to the consttruction of the 4th metro line the city is crazy...so big traffic everywhere, and takes ages to go anywhere:(

(

I can prove that!!! All I could see was a waving hand. Was it Michael's or not, I don't know. I just hope it was his. :)

ah right. i only really looked on the side where the city park finishes.my parents were having a drink in that cafe just on the edge of the park so i walked down to heros square but only stayed on the left side where that bridge is as i said in my post. i cant really think of where that road is. i guess on the right side u mean down the right from where the museum is which is on the same side as the park. if so i didnt really go down that way just across to the tube station and down to the square from the city park end.

yeah we stayed on rakoczi well a flat on the corner of it and puskin (think it was) so it was pretty noisey.maybe the drivers are crazy lol one of the days we wanted to get the bus from fovram ter across the bridge and onto gellert but because the bridge was closed we just walked across. is that because of the new metro.? i guess with the bridge being closed it causes alot more traffic

really i guess u live in the houses that the bus goes past as you drive upto the hill. theres some real nice big houses there. its a real quiet area even though you are so near the city.

i saw that girl with the tshirt at i think it was batthany ter the spellings wrong but i guess u know where i mean

so which was mjs window. i didnt know which one it was didnt even realise which hotel he stayed in until u told me.top right window do u mean top right at the very far right.the tower bit or the main bit of the hotel that curves round

Yeah that long square is behind the Museum that is at the right side. It is before the bridge.
I think that bridge is closed coz it is also going through construction...but also because of the 4th metro. The city is totally crazy of it.
Michaels window was at the other side of the hotel, i was there yesterday and took a photo and i made a sign where his windows were...where he spent his honeymoon with Lisa in 1994 :p (which i missed coz was not a fan yet...was in the hotel the same time though for a dinner...looool) and also those round windows on the right were his..i think the bedroom was there (i visited this suite several times before)
here is the pic:

yeah it is nice hotel:) it opened in 1992 and was the first 5 star hotel in Budapest...since there are many nicer 5 stars one here, but this still has its name, though less superstars stay here that are visiting Budapest.
Some hotel staff are nice there and they let us fans visite his suite several times...like when it is his Birthday etc :D

hm i think no that his suite windows are not on your picture, because it was at the other side of the hotel which looks on a park (where fans camped.lool)

yeah so behind the pic i took. thats another thing with that park i was looking in my travel book. i must have missed that park altogether although i walked right up that street to the square at the top and back down. really strange. is it a big park. i think i might have walked through it after going to st stephens church as we we were walking back to karoly via ferenc underground station and onto rakiozi (sp). i remember seeing a park abit like that think it had water etc. is there another park like that near by or is that elizabeth square? gonna bug me forever now lol

yeah that park is the Elizabeth Square, and i think so you walked through it when going to he Basilica.
That pic you took is also that park but that building is not the hotel..it is at the other side of the park where already the Basilica is.
Kempinski is next to Le Meridien hotel.
It is quite a big park...fans meeting point.lol and we organized also our first vigil here in 2003.
i made a google photo.
red is from where you took your photo of Kempinski
green is from where Michaels window is to see
and blue of the other building you took from the park.lol

few other pictures of the hotel:
the entrance (when Michael was here for a short visite in July 1996 there was no barrier at the hotel...he just walked in and out and fans could stand right next to the rug (of course there were few bodyguards) but it was easy to get close to him, that was also when i first saw/"met" him. (later in September they barried the whole steet...like at the Hempel so it was not that good:( )

thanks for that. i think i know where that park is now i dont think its the one i walked through that i mentioned above. i remember looking for a restaurant called cafe kor (dont know if u know it) is on sas and i remeber crossing the main road joseph... and next to that was a big open space square i was coming from mjs hotel end so i think that was it. the other park i mentioned above was very near to dek ferenc metro station on the map uve posted the small little park with the bit of water. i think thats the park i originally thought was elizabeth square

is there more than one main entrance to the hotel? the pic i posted and an entrance o nthe other side?

oh yeah the little park at the Deák square...you mean the water what you can drink? I know it, that "saved fans life" all the time when Michael was here and it was almost 40 C

the hotel has 1 main entrance...the one that is on your photo is just an entrance for the restaurant, but probably guests staying at the hotel also use it as back entrance, but it is mainly for the restaurant. (and for fans trying to sneak in when Michael was here.....:cheeky:)
Michael never used that entrance though i think....just the main one and the one from the garage (he always used the garage when he was here with Lisa...) later in 1996 he used only the main entrance :)

here is a video of him coming out of the hotel in September 1996 ;)

oh then maybe you mean this lake? It is also the Elizabeth square...just the other side, and the white buliding you can see here is the hotel Le Meridien (and next to it right is the Kempinski). This lake was not here yet when Michael was here....it was made just few years ago, before this place was our international bus station, but it moved to an other place, not in the city center.

the CD shop was at the Vörösmarty square..but they closed it few years ago (actually they pulled down the whole buliding where it was in....and now there is a totally new one with shops etc, you probably saw it too (it has H&M, New Yorker shop etc)
When Michael was here he just walked from the hotel to the CD shop, and also walked/ran through the whole Váci street...fans told me it was so much fun, they just walked 1 meter from him etc. :) (of course i missed this event too....damn why was i in the "kindergarten"  )

yeah i think thats the lake i ment. i think we walked through there on the wayback from st stephens. we were walking towards ferenc station and then on to karoly and cutting through the back street next to the synogouge and onto rackozi (sp) i didnt take to much notice cause thats the day i hurt my neck so was in alot of pain.so to the right on that picture is the main big elizabeth square then

yeah i was in that square a few times took some nice pictures had a look in the new yorker shop. i was actually looking for a restuarant down the side street on the left hand side of the new yorker shop but it wasnt there i guess it closed when they built the shops cause there was just new offices there.but it was in my tour book but i couldnt see it at all. the new building does look abit out of place though. im surprised they were allowed to build it

cool then you walked through Elizabeth square.

hm..maybe the restaurant you were looking for was in the old building..i remember a restaurant in it.
Actually i am also surprised why they allowed such buliding there...coz it kinda ruins the square..it would be a nice building in a modern area of the city..but not there :(
Here i found pictures of the old building....it was also not better.lol (the CD shop was in the right corner of it...oh and there next to this building is the street where the Casino Vigado is where Michael had dinner with 100 fans/kids :) )

yeah the old building isnt that much better lol very 60/70s style looking. the square is lovely they should have gone for a more old fashioned look as the new building looks totally out of place.the restaurant was down the left hand side street as you are looking at the building. on the same street where the back of mjs hotel is but lower down nearer to the river. i found the address but it was just new offices so i guess it closed when they knocked the building down.
