Sigh.
According to MSNBC, "In the 12 months that followed his death Jackson sold 35 million albums worldwide".
If we assume half was in 2009 and half in 2010, that's about 18 million in each calendar year.
Is this claim of "100 million" Sony's typical approach of think of a random number and then quadruple it, then put a zero on the end?
"Jackson has sold 9 million albums in the U.S. and 24 million around the globe since his death, along with around 800,000 copies of albums by the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons. Assuming a worldwide retail sales price of $11.62 per unit... the Jackson catalog brought in about $383 million in sales. Add in 12.9 million track downloads in the U.S. over the past year, along with 26.5 million in international downloads, and you have another $34 million."
