Bubbles was born in 1983 and Michael had him from as early as 1984. It was said that Michael had to give him up as a pet once Bubbles entered puberty and developed like a wild animal. Male chimpanzees typically start puberty around 8-9 years old, so Bubbles must have reached “teenagehood” in 1991-1992. He is still alive now, living in a sanctury.

I brought this subject up because I think there were very few pictures of Bubbles from 1989 onwards. Also that Michael didn’t publicly announce he was giving Bubbles to a sanctuary (maybe because he was heartbroken and didn’t want to talk about it).

I love that bubbles is still living to this day. It will be sad when he passes 😢. He’s obv pretty old for a chimp, sure he’s like 42/43?

I was always under the impression that bubbles was still staying at Neverland up until about 2000?

I note his current sanctuary mention he’s been there since 2005 but was most likely away from Michael much earlier!

In one of the outtakes with Bashir he’s asked where bubbles is and he replied he’s now at a sanctuary,

La Toya visited Bubbles at the Sanctuary in a documentary about 15 yr ago. It's probably online.

Just after watching the previous video, YouTube recommended this one, which I haven't fully watched, just check bits here and there.
It doesn't give precise dates but it says that MJ had to "separate from Bubble for the safety of his own children".

This matches various things I heard, like chimps becoming a problem, more threatening when they get older.
Then I also heard something about monkey wars and/or monkeys attacking human villages, they would typically target reproduction or whoever they would consider as a threat/enemi, which would mean attack children and also genitals.
Beware of monkeys!

Michael said Bubbles was at the age where he began to challenge him and became more difficult to handle. Smart move for Michael to let him go as it could’ve turned dangerous

Well...they're not pets, but wild animals.

I know Michael loved animals, and I am sure they were well taken care of and it was a different time. But we have to keep in mind that many animals he had, are animals that aren't domesticated or really suitable to be kept in cages.

So, yes, this can be dangerous, monkey is not to blame 🙂

With all the controversy of Mike's plastic surgery always there just imagine the issue being a needed surgery because of his face being chewed up by an enraged ape.

To be honest, that is what people told Michael before he even got Bubbles.

Bubbles right after his birth (in 1983) was taken as an infant from his mother and he was given to a Hollywood trainer.

He was trained for few years in order to become suitable for domestic use in Neverland.

Bubbles was then given to Michael Jackson in 1986.

Bubbles (as an infant) should not have been taken from his mother in order to be trained for domestic use because this separation leads to emotional trauma that remains throughout the rest of the life of both the chimpanzees (mother and child).

he was at neverland until about 2000-2001. bryan loren said the little shit punched him in the chest at the dining room table, prompting him to run outside and confront michael. michael just laughed and said thats how he shows affection

Is there a video of Bryan Loren telling that story?

He said it at the Paris seminar if I recall correctly.
I have an old quote of him talking about Bubbles after Michael died, but in this one it was a slap in the chest that happened in the studio: "I still have the Fedora I took off his head while he was annoyingly poking at a plate of food I was eating at the studio one day, making him recoil because he had 'hat-hair'(lol). I remember clearly the day he brought Bubbles(the chimp) to the studio, and Bubbles hit me(open-hand) in my chest(that s$%t hurt!). I wanted nothing to do with the chimp after that. Michael said it meant he liked me. He could not have been more amused."

Did Bryan say the punch in the chest happened in 2000-2001 or just that Bubbles was in Neverland until 2000-2001, unrelated to the punch in the chest story?

Do you know where that quote originates?

Here's what he said in 2016 at the seminar (translated from a French fan's blog):

Spending Time with Michael Jackson

Bryan Loren visited Neverland several times. It was at the ranch that he last saw Michael in the early 2000s, during the Invincible era.

He recounts the time he found himself alone in a room with Michael's chimpanzee, Bubbles, who was sitting at a table. The monkey got up, walked over to Bryan Loren, and punched him hard in the chest. Loren went outside, found Michael, and told him what had just happened. Michael laughed and explained to Loren that Bubbles had simply let him know, with that gesture, that he was part of his life.

He also mentions a shopping trip to the Tower Records store in Los Angeles with Michael, who had come out in disguise with a wig, a hat, and a mask. Loren felt a little self-conscious about this getup. Some people were looking at Michael and began to recognize him, but they didn't bother him. At the checkout, Michael took out his bank card, and the name MICHAEL JACKSON was clearly printed on it. There was no riot, however.

Finally, he remembers the time he and Michael were in the car. Michael was in the passenger seat, and at a traffic light, another car pulled up next to them. The driver looked at Michael with both intensity and astonishment but shrugged, thinking it couldn't possibly be Michael Jackson in such an ordinary car. Michael, for his part, noticed nothing.
It's possible sentence one and paragraph two are unrelated, but that would be a really weird way to write. It seems to follow it was a room at Neverland, but I don't know. For what it's worth, Bryan contradicted his stories here and there, like with the origins of To Satisfy You, and the nature of the Black or White rap with Bill.
