Hey everbody lets all join in and help The CA Anti-Defamation Legacy Law Group reach their goal of passing a Califorina that's against defaming the Dead's reputation because their families can be greatly affected by this. there are some states who have anti Defamation laws such as Nevada and my home state Lousiana. It would great if we get as many fans to sign petition and make donations. This will help get unbiased report on those who are not here to defend themselves against false rumors. I been hearing lots of fans on another forum say that Mj's daughter been getting attacks by haters against her father who most likely believe tabloids and its unfair for child young as her to deal with that. http://www.cadeflaw.com/

Thank you for posting this..Those who have and are still trying to defame Michael even after he's passed are cowards.

I agree, they're frickin' retards. I never really believe in laws, but I wanna support Anti-Defamation Legacy Law.

i agree also with getting this law passed , and speaking of defamation has anyone figured out how to stop that " DESIREE SPEAKS so ppl listen" chick because she is so ridiculous and offensive she puts me in a rage. she seems to think noone can stop her and her offensive notion to "expose' michael jackson for who she thinks he was. and i wont bother to mention on this site what that is . by the way dont even bother to go there and give here a click i just want to know that if this law just so happens, thru the grace of god, to get passed that she is the first to be up on charges.

I hate to be cynical people, but I don't believe this law will pass for one major reason: The lawmakers, police, etc. are getting under the table kick-backs from the likes of Radaronline, tmz, etc. They will NOT do anything to disrupt the shady, money passing hands between all...How do you think these tabloids get a hold of confidential files, police info, medical records, etc. They're ALL working in cahoots with each other, right up to the top of the ladder out there in California. I wish MJ had stayed in Ireland with his children, at least there, he had his privacy and solitude!

I understand your sentiment Billy, I was just looking at the way California and Politics have been operating when it comes to this topic, and imo, they have done, and do not want to do anything, for all the reasons I mentioned. But, I'm still prayerful and hopeful that this may happen sometime.

Signed. A petition for "Caylee's Law" (Caylee Anthony) worked so I'm going to have faith that this one will too. I'm hoping it does, for Michael's sake, the sake of his children, and anybody else, dead or alive, who may be affected by this. It couldn't hurt to sign it. It might be taken into consideration, I won't shoot it down.

As of May 11, 2012 the CA Anti-Defamation Legacy Law Initiative has taken another leap toward actuality.

Our draft of the law prepared by a CadeFlaw member was accepted by The California Legislative Counsel. The initiative has a number and has been assigned a legislative counsel who will be drafting the language initiative."

After the draft is ready it will be reviewed by three other counsels in the office; they will sign off on it and it will then go to the CA Attorney General's office. A copy will be sent the Mary Brookins, Administrative Director of CadeFlaw.

THIS IS THE CADEFLAW INITIATIVE PLAIN AND SIMPLE:
"Requesting a change to California Civil Code §§ 44-48, by changing the definition of who can be defamed to include “a natural person whether living or.... dead.

http://www.cadeflaw.org/advocacymedia.htm

This Law will become a reality even if it means resubmitting it every Legislative session with whatever reasonable rewrites until it exhaust the official body from looking at it and they pass it. The only thing which could kill this, but won't is if the members of the MJ Community do not believe.

Attempting to draft a law has been a long process. While most of us are professionals in some area few are knowledgeable about what it really takes to get started and the laws concerning proposing a law. Much had to be learned.

Earlier this year CadeFlaw had begun a Petition Campaign drive which we suspended upon learning of a new 2011 law for the State of California. We will be commencing again (hopefully) this summer. (This does not affect the online Petition ONLY paper)

I saw this before on the other forum last year, but I thought they said that you have to be a resident of California.

@ Petrarose,

Thank you for your comment. You are correct the residents of California must be willing to see this Initiative become law, however, as we have seen in the past year the voices of people from different States and Countries do have a significant affect. We are looking to both groups. Asking for support from both groups.

Thank you I signed already. If this works, it will certainly muzzle all those who like to make up stories to sell to tabloids after someone dies.

It would be great if all fans support this, I think it's really important :)

I would love for this to pass. This is what Michael needs. There is no sense in allowing the defamation and victimisation of a dead person who was never convicted of a crime, and now cannot defend themselves. This shoud absolutely see the light of day.

I read a post Defaming The Dead: Congressman Peter King's Michael Jackson Media Rant from the link posted earlier, and I had to sign this petition. I hope this law gets the green light, it is really needed in order to stop people like P King and others for vilifying dead.
In case some of you want to read it or missed, here is the link to the article http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20090710.html
If P King's rants doesn't make you want to sign, I don't know what does?
