Celebrities Supporting Michael

Nicolas Jackson a Chelsea forward just scored a goal against West Ham and celebrated that event with doing part of the thriller dance routine. The commentator had no clue what he was doing but they whispered in his ear piece that Nicolas was in fact dancing the Thriller choreography. The commentator then commented that the Jackson 5 could be rebranded the Jackson 6.

If someone has a video of it, feel free to post.
Does he always do this? Bc I thought I'd seen something about this on X just recently. Did I imagine it? I will go and have a look around later.

No idea. I’ve seen this celebration before but I’m not sure it is the same player.

METAIRIE, La. -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has been fined for his Week 2 touchdown celebration that imitated Michael Jackson, a source told ESPN.

Carr snuck the ball in from the 1-yard line for a touchdown in the third quarter of the Saints' 44-19 win against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. He then did a dance move made famous by Jackson that involved grabbing at his crotch.

While the NFL relaxed some touchdown celebration rules in 2017, the current rulebook states a player can be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for "an act that is sexually suggestive or offensive."
Carr said that he chose the celebration because he promised his family that he would do a dance by Jackson if he scored a touchdown this season.

"People don't know a lot of stuff about me. ... Weddings or birthdays, I'm always dancing," Carr said after the game. "One time I hit the Michael Jackson and [my brothers] were like, 'Bro, you have to do that if you score.'"

I can see their point but... Funny how nobody had a problem with Michael grabbing his crotch at the Superbowl halftime show when they needed him to make their ratings go up.

oh, I see. He's doing Thriller hands! :)

“It was to remember the legend, Michael Jackson. I was dreaming about this, so I just did it. I dreamt it two days ago, so I just did it.”

Chris Wilding, Elizabeth Taylor's son, interviewed in The Guardian briefly mentions Michael and says he thinks she would still be supporting Michael post LN if she was still alive.

"When Wilding was being interviewed for the documentary, he was asked to describe her in one word. He eventually came up with “heart”. She was a loyal friend to so many, he says. He talks about how close she was to Michael Jackson, and how much they had in common. “They both worked from an early age. They were both the principal family support. My mom had great sympathy for Michael. He had led such a sheltered life, but not in a natural way. He, like her in a way, was ill equipped to be out in the real world.”

Did she stand by him after the allegations of child sexual abuse? (Jackson was acquitted of all criminal charges in 2005.) “Yes. She was a staunch friend to everyone she loved.” Damning evidence about Jackson emerged in the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland, long after he and Taylor had died. Does Wilding think if she were around today, she would she still be fighting his corner? “I think so, yes.”

In an article published in January 2024, Tarja Turunen (original lead singer of the band Nightwish) had to pick 10 songs from her discography. One of the songs she picked was "Until My Last Breath", a song she wrote in 2010 about Michael's death. This is what she had to say about it:

"This is an important song, it’s in almost all of my live setlists. At the time, I was writing about the passing of Michael Jackson. We humans tend to forget things very easily, we don’t have a long memory. We think of somebody as amazing and then after that person is gone, we dig up all the dirt and want to only see the bad things.
That’s how it was with Michael Jackson’s passing. An incredible artist, the King of Pop, with insanely beautiful songs that are still fresh today – everything got trashed and his talent wasn’t the focus anymore. I became very sad about that and said 'okay, I need to believe in myself and what I do, no matter what the public pressure is. This song made me understand that."

She also talked about the song on X in April 2024:

"“Until My Last Breath” was initially inspired by the aftermath of Michael Jackson’s death and how he only got the deserved appreciation from the public and media after his passing. A reminder to cherish what is present while we are still here."

I also found this video of her covering the song Ben back in 1994 when she was 17 years old:

Someone recently sent me this picture, and just looking at it brought back so many amazing memories! This was a day when Michael and I were at an amusement park, super excited to ride the bumper cars. I was about to get my own car when he looked at me and said, 'Hey, LaVelle, ride with me!' How could I say no, right?
I ended up sitting in the back while he drove. I have to admit, I really wanted to drive and bump into other cars too, but it was so much fun that I’ll never forget it. Michael knew how to make the most of every moment and, of course, how to hit the other cars pretty hard!
😂

Looking back at this makes me smile. Moments like this stay with you forever.
