Dangerous Short Films are currently being upscaled to 4K on YouTube!

It pains me to see that another short film of his has been upscaled. Some scenes look absolutely horrible in the new version. It's not like this video even used any CGI, where they would probably have to upscale it. Just seems like the typical laziness the estate is known for. I wouldn't be expecting much from them anyway, considering the only true 4K videos we have ever gotten were Beat It and Thriller — both coming from the only album the estate seems to care about, which is Thriller.

I can easily see them rationalize true scans in 4K of the Bad Music Videos with the next anniversary. Bad does have the "prestige", 5 number 1 Singles,a Legendary World Tour, and Quincy Jones association. It's reputation has basically been solidified.

Dangerous for the acclaim the fans give it, still barely registers with the general public for some reason. Not how it should be in my opinion but unfortunately the way it is regardless. At least in America.
 
There's just one thing in relation to this topic in general people seem to ignore: Branca is careless about us, but not about the material. It's absurd to believe whatever tapes and film reels they have as of now haven't been scanned upon being located. Just remember that not seeing it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Branca refusing to release any piece of footage shows his lack of interest in all 5 of us who'd buy that.

It's basically a case of patience cause it will come out, just not during this current regime.

I doubt they would upscale the music videos from Bad since all the short films were edited on film except for the credits of Liberian Girl and some sequences in Dirty Diana, which were both done on tape (correct me if I'm wrong!).

quite a lot if not all of the archives actually have been digitized in some form or another, listening to the Behind The Mask demo and the Logic error sound at the beginning it either seems like a rushed older transfer or a rushed new transfer since they didn't even want to do the release in the first place.

True.. but still no real HD so the FY stays valid 🤣 but we do not know if the aspect is the original or if it’s still a cut. So they could create a decent widescreen.

I'm not sure if that is completely accurate. The X-Files was released in HD with more image on the sides. Some was lost from top and bottom. If they should have done it is another topic but it can be done.

I didn't say it can't be done, mate. I just mentioned the fact that the original frame is "square".

Remember that the Estate promised to correct Black or White due to the different angles that were not present in the final version. Who knows if they aren't preparing a new 4K scan? I doubt it, but it's a possibility.
 
I mean eventually they will actually remaster them into true 4K. It’s silly not to, we know the difference. They’re doing this right now, just because, idk, it’s on YouTube anyway. Cheap and easy intern work. They started with Off The Wall and they had legitimate grounds there, this is somewhere between not doing anything and a full fledged project.

The HIStory short films were supposed to be in 4K and complete. TDCAU is incomplete on YouTube, it's only 4 minutes long when the original is 7 minutes.
