Dangerous Short Films are currently being upscaled to 4K on YouTube!

to me, it looks like the videos were filmed with a newer camera than the originals ones from the 90's. so maybe that's what they were going for.?

I don't get people here saying that people won't watch something if it is not in 4K when DVD is still the largest selling home video format. Way more things are released on DVD than Blu-ray or 4K. People rent DVDs from Redbox in front of stores. Most of what Walmart has in their stores is DVD. The local public libraries have 95% DVDs and recently a few Blu-rays but no 4K discs at all. The average person doesn't care about video quality, just like they don't buy audiophile stereo equipment. Some people even buy those bootleg DVDs of newly released movies (theatrical) that people sell on the street & flea markets that they filmed in theaters or downloaded. They can't care too much about video quality if they buy those. A lot of TV channels are not even in HD and people watch them. The public at large never adopted Blu-ray/4K. They either stuck with DVD or went straight to streaming (or pirating).

As far as AI goes, some current professional music acts have released completely AI music videos or have AI album artwork including Duran Duran (the band).

Most new TVs are 4K nowdays and people stream movies and watch Youtube on them in 4K.

That AI album artwork and video thing sounds really bad. Let actual artists do the artwork.

People have no choice but to buy that if they're getting a new TV. But Walmart sells DVD only players for around $25 US, which is cheaper than the other formats. Some people don't even know the difference, they think all of the discs are DVD. Like they'll buy a Blu-ray that doesn't work on their DVD player and they return it to the store. Also, if a TV channel broadcasts in SD, the TV doesn't matter. Some older people still have their tube TV with a converter box hooked up to it. A lot of people don't throw stuff away if it still works. I have relatives that still have VCRs that work and they use them. Some local thrift stores & used book stores sell videotapes too. There are a lot of things on VHS that never made it to DVD and are not on streaming, unless somebody uploaded their copy on Youtube. Ot the later DVD/blu-ray was edited in some way and the videotape has the original version.

Again most of the videos (no matter what it is) on Youtube are not 4K. especially the earlier uploaded ones. Most of Princes (official) videos were uploaded as 480 or 360, and that was after he passed, since Prince didn't allow his stuff on Youtube. That also has nothing to do with the popularity of DVDs.
