Formule 1

There's another article. If I understand well it's about that Kimi doesn't drink any alcohol because he's on a diet. :)

Yeah, though he's not on diet but he has lost weight because he has given up on alcohol. :)
"Kimi wants to be a world champion again and he has noticed that healthy lifestyle don't at least do harm for the try"

How do you like it? :)
Very good  it made me little sad though..

Not many weeks anymore to the season start!! Yay!!

Yeah, though he's not on diet but he has lost weight because he has given up on alcohol. :)
"Kimi wants to be a world champion again and he has noticed that healthy lifestyle don't at least do harm for the try"

ah, ok, thanks for this! :)

yeah, I'm quite sad when I watch it maybe because of the song but this song will always remind me of the 2008's tough season for Kimi. :( It's beautiful IMO.

Yesterday they couldn't do anything but some installation laps due to the sandstorm... :(

Today:
Bahrain - Finally on the track

After a long waiting period the three teams participating in the double test session at the Sakhir circuit were able to get back to work on the track and not just at the box. The weather conditions improved during the night and today the visibility was good enough for the medical helicopters to start. The green lights at the end of the pit lane went on at 8am and Kimi Raikkonen (Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro), Jarno Trulli (Toyota) and Christian Klien (BMW Sauber test driver) went out on the track.

Trying to catch up the three teams drove as many laps as possible, although they knew that at least for the first two hours the track conditions weren't perfect. At the beginning the tarmac was very slippery - due to sand and humidity after the track had been cleaned in the morning. The lap times were similar to the ones with extreme wet tyres (around 1'50").

Later on the situation improved although it's still not perfect. Before the lunch break at 12:30 the lap times were as follows: Trulli with 1:34.318 (75 laps), followed by Raikkonen (1:34.463, 63 laps) and Klien (1:35.535, 52 laps).

Bahrain - Testing could proceed as normal

Circuit: Bahrain International Circuit - 5.412 km
Driver: Kimi Raikkonen
Car: Ferrari F60
Weather: air temperature 16/21 °C, track temperature 16/29 °C. Sunny with hazy skies.

After two days affected by poor visibility, finally the weather in Bahrain improved enough so that this day of testing could proceed as normal. Therefore, Kimi Raikkonen, who was unable to do anything at all yesterday, managed to get his first run in the Ferrari F60 on a dry track, even if it was still very dirty because of a covering of sand in the first hours of the morning. Kimi concentrated mainly on finding the best set-up for the car and covered a total of 105 laps, setting a best time of 1:33.350. The only hiccough on the day was down to an hydraulic problem which occurred shortly after 15:00 and was then fixed.

The Scuderia will resume testing at this circuit on Monday 16th February, again with Kimi Raikkonen on track.

Keep flying, Kimi!!!:clapping:

Thanks for the results and pics!
I'm still not used to the new look of the cars...

Today was a good testing day according to Kimi. I'm happy that he feels good in the car and he's happy with it. Let's hope the best! As Michael would say, let's hope that "the best is yet to come"! :)

So, the rally in Mikkeli is about to start. I'm already too excited! :)

One girl from the official is happen to live in Mikkeli so she's most likely going to see Kimi! :)

Yesterday Kimi and Kaj were doing the notes at the Vaakuna track in a Ferrari red Fiat 500.

http://www.lansi-savo.fi/Uutiset/8904135.html

I just can't believe that Finnish licence plates have almost exactly the same design like the Hungarian ones. When I first saw that licence plate on that Fiat 500 I immediately thought ...ha is that from Hungary? :)

example of a Hungarian one:
180px-Hungarian_registration_2135.JPG

That's what Kaj Lindström, Kimi's co-driver had to say about Kimi:

Kaj Lindstrom, Kimi`s co-driver: Everything is OK. I was surprised how good notes Kimi did. Notes are bit simpler than world top drivers'.

Reporter: How fast Kimi drives?

Kaj: 110%... (Laugh) of course we drive fast but we need to remember our speed is 1sec/km slower than top drivers do. But I have to say, I`m so suprised how clean lines he drives, there is no panic places never. When he turns to corner, line is always just like it should be. You can see he is professional, it doesn't matter what kind of a machine he has. It is enjoyable to be his co-driver, we have lots of fun in the car. You know, boy's jokes... (laughs..)

Kaj Lindstrom have won two rally World Championships with Tommi Makinen so he really knows what he is talking about.:D:punk:

I don't know whether you know it or not but Kimi finished the Vaakuna rally at the 17th place.

He was very very good, till the 6th stage. He was 7th in overal standings but in the 6th stage he was driving to fast and went off the road. The spectators helped them to pull the car out of the snow. He lost 6 minutes there so that's why he finished at the 17th. He could've finished this rally at the 7th place. :)

He really had a great time, smiled all the time. :)

^ Aww I love the second last pic :D

I didn't know the results, thanks for telling.
BTW I was near Mikkeli that day when Kimi was there too! I didn't see him :( (we only drove through the town, we were visiting my dad's uncle :D)

Kimi Raikkonen Is a Good Friend of Axl Rose

Although some fans might consider Kimi Raikkonen a rather boring driver – you don't really see him enjoying his wins in Formula 1 that much – the truth of the matter is the Finnish driver seems to really enjoy his life outside the Great Circle. Known for his affection to drinking, the former world champ revealed, in his latest interview for Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, that he is a very good friend of Guns N'Roses' lead singer Axl Rose.

Having been included in Axl Rose's “thanking list” for his band's latest album “Chinese Democracy”, Raikkonen admitted he has been friends with the rock artist from the days he used to run for McLaren Mercedes. Asked if he knows why Rose thanked him, Kimi answered:

“I don't really know, you should ask him that! But we do know each other very well, we have met several times through the years. The first time we met was years ago, at one of the F1 races I competed in. Afterwards, he came to Finland once and we met again,” said Raikkonen.

However, the Finnish driver denied having a special thing for rock music. “I wouldn't say I have the heart of a rock fan, but I do like his music,” confirmed the Scuderia driver.

Although he is known as a driver who often avoids talking about his personal life or other interests besides F1, Raikkonen revealed that he is an outspoken fan of new United States of America president Barack Obama.

“(If I were an American) I would have voted for him. I don't watch politics that much, but he seems like a very intelligent person,” added Raikkonen.

I liked that interview with Kimi, here you can read the whole (it's google translation from Italian to English but quite understandable):

Sakhir - First impressions on the Ferrari, the new regulations, the desire to start over, thoughts on his future, but also the election of President Obama, his mother, and the music of Guns 'N' Roses. A month before the championship begins on March 29 at Australia, Kimi Raikkonen talks.

At the test in Bahrain you were able to drive for the first time the F60 with slicks in the dry. How is it going?
KR: "Very well. It was a good first step, everything worked well. As for the slicks, at the end I did not find many differences compared to when, before Christmas, we tried on the old car. "

The new Ferrari is better suited to the tyres characteristics?
KR: "It is too early to tell. Certainly the feeling was good. "

Some drivers have raised the issue of rain: is the machine really impossible to control?
KR: "When I tried at Mugello, it was very cold and the track was really slippery. It will be easier at higher temperatures.

With the new rules do you think the races will be more exciting?
KR: "It will always be difficult, but we hope there is an improvement. It may be that, since it's somewhat more difficult, it will increase the interest both of the drivers and for the public. "

T
he drivers will have more difficulty?
KR: "We can't tell yet."

Talk about the Kers (system recovery): does it make a real difference?
KR: "It helps significantly in the lap time, and of course its' influence depends on the circuit. If it works it's a good thing to have in the car. And for us, so far it has worked quite well. "

All these buttons will make Formula 1 more like a videogame?
KR: "No! Being good with video games is not the same as being in F1. "

You have understood what went wrong last year? There is something to learn?
KR: "You always learn from mistakes, but I'm not particularly interested in understanding last year: we can't change the way things went, and it doesn't help us to do things better now. I am happy to talk about what we can do about this. "

You're searching for a comeback?
KR: "No, I try only to give the maximum. Everyone knows what we can do and our goal is to win the championship. There are many things that need to go well to achieve that, and I'm not necessarily talking about luck. But I'm not thinking of that now: I think good testing and to be as strong as possible in the first few races is important. "

In Finland, the media were writing that you decided to quit drinking alcohol.
KR: "It is my private life, I don't think I need to talk about it."

Do you expect different rivals or think that the fight going to be between you, Massa and Hamilton again?
KR: "I have no idea how the other teams are working. Until now the lap times were all very close, but during the tests using different tyres, you try different things, then, it can be successful or not. But I'm neither interested nor worried about the others. Let's think about ourselves."

In 2010, your contract expires and you said that Ferrari will probably be your last team: does this mean that you'll leave F1?
KR: "We will see in two years if I'm still enjoying or if I want to do other things, but I'm confident that Ferrari will be my last team. But this does not necessarily mean that I will stop in 2010... "

What would you do next? Rally?
KR: "I have not planned anything. During the rally I enjoyed it very much, I have another course in Finland on Saturday. It is one thing that I do as a fun hobby when I have nothing else to do. "

What do you think of the controversy on the drivers' superlicense? They complain about the increase of the fee, and Mosley says that anyone who does not pay, they will not drive.
KR: "Everyone is more or less happy to pay the license, it's just that the price should be reasonable. I do not understand why it is so much more expensive than any other category. It should be equal for all and reasonable. This is the only problem, nobody wants to quarrel with anyone. "

You've said that sooner or later you will have children?
KR: "In this moment we are not in the best of possible worlds. I am a lucky man because I would be able to offer a good life for my child. "

What are your hopes for them?
KR: "That they are always healthy. Then they alone will decide their life. I will not force them to do anything, if they choose to race or do anything else. "

If your child were an American citizen, would he have voted for Obama?
KR: "Yes, I do not follow politics much but I think he's a smart guy. "

Axl Roses, the leader of Guns N'Roses, has thanked you in his last album, Chinese Democracy. Why?
"I do not know, I ask him! But we know each other quite well, we've met several times: the first time was years ago, at my invitation, then he comes to Finland and we meet again.

Do you think you have a rock soul?
KR: "I'd say no. But I like his music. "

Favorite city?
KR: "Espoo".

Colour?
KR: "Black, red and white."

Food and beverage?
KR: "Pasta and fish. I do not have a favorite drink. "

Pet?
KR: "Dog. I have three."

Your parents and wife are afraid when you're racing?
KR: "My mom yes, it is certainly the most worried of all."

It is favorable for women to be in Formula 1?
KR: "If you are brave enough, you are welcome.

What do you think of a GP in Rome?
KR: "We are an Italian team, so it would be nice. I was once in Rome before Christmas and is a wonderful city and I'd like to go back. "

After two years at Ferrari, have you understood a little 'Italy'?

KR: "It works differently than a British or Swiss team, it is a cultural thing. I like the Italians: I find they are nice people and relaxed. "

And this is another one:

Far from the spotlights Kimi Raikkonen is perhaps an interesting person, but he closes himself like an hedgehog, when a microphone appears.

Q - "What is your best quality?"
A - "Don’t ask me. You have to ask someone else!"

Q - "What was your best race last year?"
A - "I won once or twice ... I don’t even remember how many! However, it’s not important. I have to say you that last year in some of my best races I haven’t collected any results, so...

Q - "Why did you choose the name James Hunt?"
A - "I don’t know, it’s a long story, it was born to joke with my friends. It would be complicated to tell you all briefly. It's just a game.”

Q - "2008 was not however a good season ..."
A - "I've left it behind, I hope to do better this year."

Q - "Was there a worst moment?"
A – “It’s very difficult to choose one, a single moment. The whole season was not sure how I hoped it to be. "

Q - Hamilton or Massa, who is your most strong rival?"
A - "I don’t know who will be the fastest and it’s early to say which team will be stronger between Ferrari and McLaren. And maybe even there will be another team that will come out. We will see in the first race."

Q - "Do you feel more focused than past years in winning the World Championship?"
A – “It’s always difficult to win the title, but it’s my only goal."

D - "Have you got a wish?”
A – “Not at all. We only need to give it all to reach the result, and sometimes it succeeds."

That’s Kimi.

Oh, so you drove through Mikkeli on that day, wow, what a coincidence! :)

FOTA want points system changed for 2009

The Formula One Teams’ Association have said that a change to the current points-scoring system is necessary, amongst other recommendations published by the group today.
The Association met in Geneva today and were quick to agree on a range of measures designed to make the sport sustainable in light of the current problems it faces.
One of the most significant revisions to the sport would be a points system change proposed by the group for the upcoming season. The new system would see points scored 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1, and is designed to reward a grand prix winner more.
Other important proposals included reducing costs considerably by 2010, and to enhance the media and fans’ access to the sport. However, the statement issued by the group made it clear that changes would only reflect those demanded by its core audience, and would not change the DNA of the sport irretrievably.
Ferrari and FOTA President Luca di Montezemolo hailed the changes.
“This is an unprecedented moment in Formula One history. Above all else, for the first time the teams are unified and steadfast – with a clear, collective vision. Thanks to this unity, all the teams have already managed to make a significant reduction to their costs for 2009,” the Italian is quoted as saying by autosport.com.
“And, while we will continue to compete vigorously on track, we all share one common goal: to work together to improve Formula One by ensuring its stability, sustainability, substance and show for the benefit of our most important stakeholder, namely the consumer. It is with this mindset that we now intend to work hard, with our partners at the FIA and FOM, our shared goal being to optimise the future of Formula One.”
The changes need clearance by the FIA and by commerical rights holder FOM before they can take effect.

I would like that new point system... We'll see what happends.

Hopefully the Ferrari's will make a good start of the new season :D

GO Kimi, GO Massa!!! :)
Yeah I really hope that too!!

Welcome to the forum btw, I haven't seen you before :) Hope you join us in our F1 talk, here ain't too much formula fans.. ;)

Thanks! Indeed, I'm new here on the forum :)

Yeah I'm going to try everything to be there :)

How many people here are Ferrari fans? And other teams? :)

^^^Hey, nice to see you here!:D

Me and Hanna (The One) are Ferrari fans, well, I would say Kimi fans. Mechi used to come here, she's also a big Ferrari fan.

So, welcome to the "family". I hope you'll come often! Most of the time we post here every day, even during the off season. There's not much time left till Australia. Only 3 weeks!!! I just can't wait.

Yep that's about it. Not very much fans of other teams :D

OMG 3 weeks!! I can't wait either! :timer:

It's funny that on such a large forum, only 2 people are F1 fans AND Ferrari fans :D

Were you also fans of Schumi (like me)? :)

I'm also really curious of the next season.. Especially how all the teams managed to implement the new rules (KERS, new rules about the wings etc). Here is a comparation of the cars of this season with the previous season: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2009/01/23/2009-f1-cars-and-2008-cars-compared/ Impressive huh? :)
My guess is that the first races, alot of accidents will happen due to the front wing that has become much wider. ;)

^ Thanks for the link! I still think that the cars were more beautiful last season..
Yeah, it's going to be so interesting to see how all teams get along with the new rules... I hope there's also more teams compiting of winning the races and championship.

I wasn't that much Schumi fan, I'm more into Kimi :D And before him I cheered for Mika Häkkinen.. :) It was annoying back then because Schumi won all the races lol.

Yes, it's really funny that there are not many F1 fans here. It can be that there are many MJ fans who only visit the Michael related topics/sections here so they don't even know that this thread is exists. :)

I was not a fan of Schumi, to say the least. I was not a Ferrari fan at all. I have been a McLaren fan for about 20 years. I was a big Prost fan, later Häkkinen fan. In the early 2000s I didn't watch F1 races at all because it was boring that Schumi won everything. I didn't even know who Kimi was until 2005. Haha I blame myself that I missed so many years. I'm more of a Kimi fan, I just like the Ferrari team that finally helped Kimi reach his dream. Though I have to say that last year I was angry at them that they didn't give him a car to his liking. I really hope that this year would be different. If the car is fast and reliable enough then no one could stop Kimi. He says he liked the slick tyres, he had a good feeling on those tyres, and the aerodynamical changes are also in his favour. Let's hope that this year would be better for him. I'm tired of the haters saying he's not motivated enough. Kimi, you show 'em!!!!:D

I also like Kubica, Kovalainen and Vettel, they are quite good and I like their personalities as well.

woops so I am the only Shumi fan around here ;)

I can imagine people saying F1 was boring because he won all the time, but in my opinion, this was the responsability of the other teams/drivers...

Yeah I also hate those remarks about Raikkonen not being motivated enough... Maybe people think this because he rarely shows his emotions?

Let's hope that the 'automated pitstop' system Ferrari will use again in the next season now works as expected! :) Damn that was embarrasing in the GP of Singapore!

My friend and colleague is a Schumi fan, he's made this video about Schumi:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmpUPRhoI_E&feature=channel_page

Have you attended a GP or GPs before? Spa maybe? OMG, Kimi's playground, I wanna go there once in my life!!!!:punk:

I'll go to Monza this year with my husband. The Mekka of the tifosis!!!!! I just can't wait!:timer::wild::clapping:

Here is my YouTube channel, if you are interested. My videos are fan-girl videos about Kimi but maybe you'll like some of them:

http://www.youtube.com/user/kimismely

That's a really nice Schumi movie!! :clapping:
And your youtube channel contains some cool movies as well :)

Unfortunately I didn't attend a GP yet. I only attended the Friday practices a few times @ Spa :) The sad thing is that the prices for a ticket are really crazy. You pay alot of money to be seated on a 'bad place' where you can see them only a few seconds every round. On TV you can see alot more about the race, but then of course you miss all the ambiance of the GP and the fans..
A little tip for when you visit a GP: carry ear plugs with you, especially if you bring kids to a GP. :)
Yeah Monza sounds really nice.. I hope you'll have a nice trip and make alot of pictures! ;)

Thanks for the comments about the Schumi video and about my channel. :D

Well, we visited Hungaroring last year, only the Friday's practice. It was quite cheap so we had seats at the best place, opposite the pit lane. It was great! We brought ear plugs but no way I was using them. I wanted to hear everything and it was just great!!!!!!!!!!!:wild::clapping::punk: Was music to my ears!!! Like a Michael song... LOOL To be honest, Honda's engine was the loudest and the best.

I know that when you are at a GP you can't see everything but you have to experience the atmosphere. That's why we chose to go there only on Friday. So we saw all the cars, we heard the sounds, it was great. This time we are going to Monza because there the atmosphere must be amazing (plus it'll be our holiday trip, after the weekend at Monza we'll go to the seaside for a week). We have seats at the Parabolica, it was not that expensive. 2nd pre-sale till 31, May. One ticket was 132 EUR for the whole weekend. For Hungarian GP, a General Admission ticket for the weekend is 110 EUR...
