"Girlfriend" is the worst song in MJ's entire adult discography.

I must whole-heartedly disagree, I am sorry but you are incorrect that is just my opinion and I can tell you with 100% certainty that this song was made for teen girls just like me that never had a boyfriend and when I heard this song it made me smile to even think NO imagine that Michael was my "Secret Boyfriend" I was walking on cloud 9 I never had to share him with anyone else.. and the song says he wanted me to tell my other boyfriends about US or he would tell them.. ooooOOOOH man did I care it was a lie no did I care that it was not the truth nope but what really mattered to lonely single teen me was that GRIN that SMILE that covered my entire FACE, now that was REAL!!
Whenever I hear it that smile comes accross my face so easily.. lol

Michael was not just a musician he was the ultimate STORYTELLER and FANTASY MAKER!!
He takes you away within your own unlimited IMAGINATION and inspires the most grandest of DREAMS!!
It is more than just a mere SONG you got that only part RIGHT! !lol!! ❤️ 💫

Completely disagree. It’s definitely corny, but over the years I’ve grown to appreciate the charm. It’s exactly what you’d expect from McCartney.
 
It’s one of those songs that you wouldn’t be caught dead listening to whilst hanging out with your mates or a group of people.

I still enjoy it though as a guilty pleasure and the vocals are sweet.

It’s still much better than Privacy
 
I am not a teenage girl, I have never been a teenage girl and I will never be a teenage girl, but uhm ... I do like the song. It's just sweet. Also, Michael was 20 when he recorded that. It was fitting for him at the time. It would have been slightly uncomfortable had it been on Invincible.

Paul McCartney was around 35 or 36 on the original version by Wings. So I doubt it was a song targeted to teenagers, unlike "She was just 17 and you know what I mean". 😂

Technically, Girlfriend could be used to describe the George Harrison, Pattie Boyd, & Eric Clapton situation 😁
 
Absolutely agree. One of the worst songs Paul McCartney ever wrote. It's up there with his Christmas nightmare "Simply Having A Wonderfull Christmas Time"

This song is a steaming pile of dog poo. Off The Wall would have been so much better with a track like Sunset Driver in it's place.
 
I like Wonderful Christmastime (and John & Yoko's Christmas song too). I heard Paul makes a lot of money from it every year too.
