This is a thread, supporting a future release of Michael's final & most theatrical world tour. Post your requirements and what you are hoping to be featured, how you would like the color graded and the sound mixing. Here are my desires:

* Wide shot camera angle, showing the full stage + keeping crowd in view when possible.
* Crowd noise is essential.
* 5.1 DTS audio mix.
* Additional live vocal segments from soundboard.
* Lighting should be dark, with some lighter scenes whilst Michael is connecting with the crowd.
* Ideal show would be from 1996 w/ Blood On The Dancefloor as a bonus.
* Rehearsals are essential.

List your wishes below, i look forward to reading them.

It should only be a concert that is in HD. If Munich is the only choice then that but not the same edit we already have. They could edit it again. No cinema release for HIStory Tour only Blu-Ray/DVD.

No negativity please, and i'm confident that Munich is not the only choice.

HIStory Tour should be the last of the estates priorities. First they should focus on realising BAD Tour 1988 and Dangerous Tour (any show with Bad and The Way You Make Me Feel) on Blu Ray

"Live vocal segments from soundboard" is an awful idea. Considering the audience can't hear Michael's vocals for most of the show, there's the huge chance that (a) he wasn't singing at all, or (b) he's singing breathy and out of key.

There was one HIStory Tour concert (can't recall which right now) where his mic was left on for one second too long after the spoken word interlude of In the Closet, and Michael was completely off key. Not slightly, like a note or two down - it was majorly noticeable.

If the HIStory Tour absolutely must be released (that's a discussion for another time), stick with the dubbed vocals.

I agree with this, Dangerous Tour Blu-Ray in 2016 with a BAD Tour Blu-Ray after a new contract is signed. But this isn't the place to discuss that. Thank you.

I just gave my opinion

I know, and i agree! but no need to go off topic

But I never went off topic. I was still talking about the HIStory Tour being released on Blu ray. All I said was that the estate should focus on MJ's others tours first

This. In Munich (I Think) during the "Every day create your History" part of TDCAU, you can clearly see that Michael is inhaling while "singing".

I hate watching a live show with no bloody crowd noise. It's so weird watching MJ moonwalk and hearing nothing because you know just as well as I that people were going wild. It also ruins the mood imho and makes everything feel more empty. I want to hear the audience go crazy over Michael's performance dammit!! :p

Agree with others though, in regards to the release of the HIStory tour blu-ray, focus on the other tours first.

For shots where mishaps like this occur, they should cut away to a wider angle.

True, but my point was about the possibility of using the soundboard vocals- clearly not possible here because the only sound coming from his mouth would be his inhaling.

If using pre-recorded, then its easy to hide the blatant instances of lip syncery

Yeah I know and I agree 110%, just focusing on the visual aspect as well :)

I was referring to the chorus' when i said ''live vocal segments'' as you heard in the BOTDF snippet from the alternate Munich audio.. if the vocals in Prague are of a decent standard then they could use them a little more! for example the vocal bridge during 'Dangerous' and the live vocal snippets during TDCAU in the amateur audio

I had quoted what I was referring to in Historics post originally, I wasn't replying to anything you had said

I think it might be Auckland, i believe playback failed during the start of 'Thriller' and his microphone volume was too low..

Interesting. I wonder if this is the performance AlwaysThere was referring to??

Rehearsal footage would be great!!

There HAS to be a lot of Extra Materiale!!

Rehearsals, behind-the-scenes, building the stage, etc. etc. - Rehearsals being the most important !!

I really hope for a Blu-Ray release - 2 disc - concert and hours of extra materiale and rehearsals.

Dangerous Bucharest was released with no extra material... WTF !!!??? - So stupid and very disapointing. They better to it better this time around !!

Also - the "extra materiale" on BAD25 was a stupid Yokohama clip we've all seen millions of times before - and TWYMMF... - Sad and stupid. Estate should do better than that !!

You have some fantastic ideas, let's hope the estate take some of these ideas on board when they come to releasing this tour! the best experience possible is needed. Rehearsals are a part of the magic, and some backstage in between song's would be so cool.. perhaps footage of Michael off stage before he comes on to perform 'You Are Not Alone'

ALSO - They could include the Copenhagen birthday footage from 29th august 1997 ! (I was in the audience!!! - I saw it live !! :))

Lots of pro cameras was on stage to capture the moment - so sure The Estate has it in HD quality ! - Would be nice to see the entire celebration in good quality !!

That has to happen, it would be so cool :) they certainly shouldn't try and fit everything on one disc, i want A LOT of Michael to be exposed! the more the better :D

But there wasn't any tho...
wow.

IKR but tbh who cares. Just because someone doesn't like your idea doesn't mean it's 'negative'. Sometimes you need negativity to improve products and ideas.

If this was going to be released, I've already seen some of the better suggestions come out of focusing on the more negative aspects of the tour.

I suppose the main requirement for me is the audio. I hope that the actual live recording is used as opposed to edited sounds like Munich. The audior is always most important for me. I don;t have much time to be sitting down and enjoying concerts that often, but I always rip the audio and get to listen to them driving, or running, at the gym or sometimes at work. Audio will always be a preference over visual for me.

That makes it even more sad that 95 % of HIStory Tour was play-back...

I am in the same situation as you are by the way - I listen to concerts a lot more than I see them. - so I love BAD tour Live CD. - Live vocals, great energy - perfect really. History - playback, not that intresting really.

Also if they make a release of a concert that does not have Come Together/D.S, BOTDF, TWYMMF og OTW medley - they might include that as bonus material - like TWYMMF was on BAD25.

It is SO sad - and strange - to see 39-year old MJ "singing" with his 20 year old vocals in the OTW medley. - terrible !! - How come Kenny Ortega - or just someone - did not say to MJ that he at the very least had to record new "live" vocals for the songs that had playback. - Just to use album vocals seems stupid, lazy, false, cheating - simply just terrible... - He could have spend just one day in the recording studio and made "live" vocals for all the songs he wished to lipsynch. - that would still be cheating and playback of course - but then at least he did something to cover it up.

my requirements/suggestions (for blu-ray):

-keep as much of the original aspect ratio as possible, it's probably not a good idea to crop it to 16:9
-color: keep the "blue space tint", best seen in TDCAU
-use footage where the stage lights are visible, not just a dark stage
-include bonus songs/special moments not played at this particular concert (bug scene, his birthday,...)
-lossless audio
-audio with live atmosphere and instruments, no "dangerous tour bucharest noise overdubs"
-use every live vocal snippet which sound good from the tour/rehearsals and mix/alternate them with the playback stuff.
-Rehearsals and Making of of every aspect of the show, then and also now (newly produced)
-separate gates of Kiev intro movie, maybe newly rendered in HD (not integrated into the concert, but separate, including making of). As an easter egg, you could select every city of this tour, and the voice in the movie would then say: "Your destination is (city)"
-all the movies that were played inbetween the songs as separate extras.
-instrumental track without vocals
-optional subtitles including the correct song lyrics.
-MJ on the road, arriving in the different countries the history tour played, local impressions, fan scenes,...
-gallery with tons of still photos from the tour.
-making of the blu-ray: What had to be done to get this release done, finding the reels, restoration work, etc.
-a fitting and colorful cover which can represent History tour as a whole.
-a separate gift set which consists of a box which is a detailed replica of the stage, including the bluray +concert ticket, program, backstage passport, statue replica/MJ replica in Scream outfit and an anniversary edition of the history album (which should also be available separately)

If the audience didn't hear his live vocals, they aren't going to use any of those spotty vocals on a dvd.
