I missed EVERYTHING

MJ fans aren't just a fan of his music, they are a fan of the man & I think that is what makes us so passionate about him, and makes us miss him so much. We have some kind of special connection.

Very true. In fact, though I've always liked the few songs I knew he sang since I was little - when I really started researching him after he died, it was WHO HE WAS as a person that made me fall in love with him. It wasn't his amazing talent...that came 2nd for me. I was and still am so incredibly touched by his beautiful, loving soul. I almost don't like being called a "fan" - because I feel like it puts me in some crazed screaming fainting obsessive category...lol. When really I just have an incredibly deep respect and love for him.

When we got the internet at home youtube was heaven for me, listening to interviews, speeches [you should listen to the Oxford speech if you haven't already], watching performances etc. I never saw him live... I was born a bit too late!

Oh same here...YouTube is a HAVEN for me...it's bliss, to be able to just sit back and bring Michael into my home like that. I am always watching him. I have indeed listened to that speech as well...it was beautiful. At this point I don't think there is a speech or interview I HAVEN'T seen...I've caught up for lost time, trust me. haha.

I so wish I could have seen him live...that's my biggest "regret". Ever since I have come to known Michael I have never wanted to travel back in time so badly. I wish I was born when he was. That would make me 50 today and I wouldn't mind one bit...because I would have experienced the magic he had to offer and really, all the 70's and 80's had to offer! But that's a whole other story.

Thanks for your post. I do agree it doesn't matter WHEN you become a fan - but it sure does make you wish you were there earlier!

I'm glad you have discovered Michaels talent and music. I have been a fan since I was 6 years old so that means almost 18 years of my life have consisted of Michael Jackson, in all shapes and forms. I'm grateful for that time that I cannot even begin to describe it. But time doesn't really mean anything. Not anymore. You shouldn't feel guilty or feel like you've missed out. Because Michaels music, performances, magic and life are never gonna fade. You can still experience everything, just in a different way. Everything Michael did back in 1970 to 2009 can be experienced. And it looks like you did just that, 4000 videos! Be grateful you discovered Michael and his greatness. Better late than never.

i really understand how you are feeling. i've been an mj fan for about six years, so i got to experience the trial and the time after that. but i feel so sad about not being around for his music! i wish i was born maybe 30 years earlier so i got to experience thriller, the tours, all of that! the closest i got to music was invincible, and i was only like nine during that time! i wish i could go back in time to live through things like this, beacuse i truly feel like nothing like that could ever happen like that now. noone can ever become as big as michael, and i will never live to see something like that. but i'm so grateful i lived at the same time as michael, it is something i can tell my grandchildren and i'm so proud of being an mj fan, and i always will.
