If “One More Chance” was properly released and promoted, would it have been Michael’s 2000s success?

The video makes me very sad. He's hiding his face, it's painful to see. So I can't imagine it would have helped the song a lot. But that is my personal view.

He wasn’t hiding his face actually. They meant to do close-up shots of him, but then the Neverland raid happened and the shoot shut down. The video that released was all they were able to film.
 
In contrast to some of the others here, I really do like the lyrics, they're relateable. As for the song itself: I like hearing MJ on early 2000s production and his vocals near the end are great, but I still don't see the song as a 10/10 masterpiece.

Edit: What I don't like about the song are his shaky vocals throughout the song.

Yeah I couldn't stand his vibrato in his later years

Teaming up with R. Kelly right after the "Ignition" remix suggests MJ wanted a smash hit. Supposedly he liked the "Ignition" remix so much that he wanted a song similar to it, and this was the result. It was meant to be a comeback single as part of the plan to repair MJ's image in 2003.

That's actually why the song is called "One More Chance". He's asking the public for another chance after the Bashir doc.

It's interesting - on the Steve Hoffman forum recently someone said that the line "Tell her this for me" is actually sung by R. Kelly - I've never thought this, it always just sounded like a rough odd MJ delivery.
 
There’s defo an R Kelly vocal in the song , towards the end ….one more chance in life babe

Tell her this for me always sounded like Michael.
 
Horrible engineer because you can hear Robert all on that song very high. He's clearly on you are not alone especially on the "looooone" part after the 1st verse. Then you can hear him on cry after mj says "& when that flag blows----show now, show me now----there be no more wars" you hear him. But for "omc"...-"if ya see her", "MEEEEE", "That is all i neeeed", "one more chance at love yeah"
 
I feel like most don't appreciate this song... I love OMC, it was always one of my fav songs and I listen to it frequently. Can't relate with the negative views.
 
I think it is sad that Michael released a song titled "One More Chance" and a day later, the allegations stuff happened.

It was as if Michael was asking for forgiveness and "One More Chance" from the public, following the allegations. Michael was honestly so unlucky.

Michael loved the 'Ignition remix' but never in a hundred years would he record a song like that

The name of the song had zero relevance to living with MJ documentary or the upcoming allegations.

It was just a coincidence it came out just before the raid, let’s not start making stuff up now
 
I really don't like the song. It just seems a bit generic and it's pretty forgettable. And I also don't enjoy the vocal performance at all. The mixed in R. Kelly vocals and the heavy vocal tuning/processing just ruin it for me. And I also don't think the song could have been a success with proper marketing.

Yeah, the original clip shown by news stations shortly after his death showed he was ever so slightly off tune for the first chorus. This was nipped for the release.

To be honest, every time Michael sings "why o why' in Human Nature, it's out of tune. He wasn't some kind of superhuman. Some things were hard for him too.

In the Bucharest concert for the Dangerous tour there’s a particular why oh why that is extremely out of tune.
