I expect most of the other artists won't want to perform in the same lineup with them...certainly not if they are true MJ fans themselves...as they say they are

No I just wrote on another board that the promoter is probably trying to book whoever they can without looking into history. And then I saw your quote. This is a company that was formed in March 2011, they are obviously in this just for money. Of course they are unaware of the controversy, they didn't even exist when it happened! It probably never even occurred to them to check the background. I wonder if they even know MJ's songs apart from Thriller and Billie Jean.

It's the Jacksons who must pay attention, know these things, be offended, be outraged, keep a black list and give it out to the promoters first thing after signing the contract... Yes, instead of wasting your time building futile conspiracy theories against the estate and AEG, pay a little attention to who is disgracing your so beloved brother and who you are inviting to do a tribute to him! Damn it.

Fans Call For Boycott Of Tribute Concert for Michael Jackson by Global Live Events

It has been announced by a spokesman for Global Live Events, that the rock-group, KISS, including Gene Simmons, will be performing at the Tribute concert. The concert is being organized by some of the Jackson family. Simmons has made extremely negative statements about Michael in the past, and the fans of Michael Jackson are APPALLED, DISGUSTED, and OUTRAGED. Not only is KISS scheduled to perform, but it’s likely that Michael’s children will be “required” to attend this concert. This lack of respect toward Michael simply cannot be tolerated. Incredibly, Katherine Jackson said on CNN, on August 15, 2011, “I know (Michael) would be very excited about KISS.” There seems to be a major disconnect going on here, about Simmons’ previous disrespect of Michael Jackson!
Simmons has said, on his FaceBook page, on June 27, 2009, “When there are children involved…when there are allegations (many) of child molestation…when there are admissions of inviting countless young boys to spend weekends and sometimes Michael’s bed with them (Michael’s quote), clothed or unclothed…makes no difference…when there are payoffs to the children making the accusations in the $20,000,000 range ($20 Million Dollars!!! — as reported by Media) ….There’s more than doubt in my mind.
This doesn’t take into consideration Michael’s children…none of whom are biologically his. All three of whom have had a “strange” upbringing. But then, we don’t know much, except a “Father” who thought nothing of dangling his young child over the balcony (head covered in a towel), so his fans could get a thrill.”

These statements, made only two days after Michael’s death, are the ultimate in disrespect.
The concert is scheduled for October 8th, 2011. Two of the Jackson siblings — Randy, and Jermaine — have declined to participate, stating that the concert would be held during the trial of Conrad Murray, the physician who is accused of causing Michael Jackson’s death. The timing of this concert is deplorable, as is the appearance of KISS, performing Michael Jackson’s music.
Already there has been controversy over this concert regarding ticket sales. The tickets are being apportioned according to the amount of money donated to charities, and unfortunately, that will exclude many fans from being able to attend.
We are appealing to Michael Jackson’s REAL fans: DO NOT ATTEND THIS CONCERT. Do not waste your money or support on this so-called tribute. If you wish to honor Michael Jackson’s memory and legacy, please donate funds to SOMALI RELIEF, as over 29,000 Somali children have died in less than 90 days due to drought and famine. Do what Michael would do and support those that are in need. If you feel uncomfortable about this tribute concert, then DO NOT GO.

Is this a bad joke? I am watching tv and watching CNN and the bottom of the screen said KISS joins Michael Jackson tribute. The man basically said Michael was a molester and his mother says Michael would be excited about KISS? Are they that out of touch with how some people feel about Michael. Even if I wanted to go this I wouldn't after this announcement. It's ridiculous.

It would be interesting to know who approached whom. If Mrs Jackson approached KISS, it is clear her people did not any kind of basic research. And it shows an uncomfortable pattern.


And if it was Gene Simmons then he is a fake, a fraud and a hypocrite.

I have now officially moved beyond disgusted.

Yeah! I agree... this is stupid! Michael deserves a great tribute, but this unnecessary rush job without having signed artists in advance and without looking into the artists is just ridiculous.

But when you rate hotels you have a very specific criteria that can guage this. These artists like Craig, and Leona, and Christina, and Cee Lo, are very artistic and they are definitely not below some of the singers people have named like Rihanna, etc in any way but popularity. What saddens me most is that nobody of the people involved cares about Michael's legacy or even understands what "legacy" means and what RESPONSIBILITY it implies. And furthermore, they are trying to prevent people who do understand this from doing their job, and even have the audacity to accuse them of greed and crimes.

Well, they touched my heart so deeply, that I won't even consider going on that event. They simply proved they've no respect toward Michael. So sad.

I think, once the trial is over, the justice is at least at some part served, the fans would show the world how to make the tribute to the Man.
 
Mrs Jackson has a very interesting way of wanting to keep Michael's legacy alive.

This family does not have the skill set and connections necessary to successful manage and maintain Michael's legacy. They just don't.

I agree...they do however have the connections to crush it...or do it irreparable damage.
 
There is a fake now posting on the tribute Facebook page, saying over and over again how great this thing will be with Kiss and "who cares about Michael Jackson's sexual orientation". If you look at that guy's page, he must be new on Facebook, he doesn't have a picture and the only page he has on his Facebook page in the Activities and Interests is the tribute page. Now, of course, I'm wondering if he is someone from Global Live trolling the page saying very disrespectul things (or maybe it's Gene Simmons?) Wouldn't surprise me.
 
This is not only disrespectful to Michael but it's a kick in the teeth to all of Michael's fans who have defended him against these allegations, by giving Simmons a place in this 'tribute' is giving (in the eyes of the world) a certain amount of credence to his public comments about Michael.

I am offended for Michael and also for us.

I'm sorry, but MJJC needs to put out a statement with a definitive line on the BS. At this point, I could care less about maybe 2-3% member dissention...this is MJ's legacy we're talking about here. If other organized MJ fan groups can do it, MJJC can too...what the hell will we stand for? Now, I feel like I need Jesse freaking Ventura, to do the damn job. Differing opinions are fine, but where the heck do we as a community draw the line, as one poster boldly insulted MJ by saying Alient whatever was great than MJ!
